The best service and the best owners. Everyone is well trained and attentive from the Hostess to the Waiters to the Bus boys. The service was fast and so was the delivery. Our water was always full and they made sure to check on dessert in a timely fashion without interrupting our dinner. We could have easily left without dessert, but the selections were too tempting. Gulf fish, Porter house steak, white chocolate bread pudding and I could go on and on!
Always a great experience there. I'm more of a dine at the bar kind of consumer and I always love the service and wine selection that I get back there.

We didnt have a reservation, which was not an issue, got seated right away. The food was delicious and service was great. A little pricy but well worth it. We were very happy that we tried The Steak Knife.

The filets were cooked perfectly. Very, very good. Could have had a little less butter but otherwise great! Much better than Ruth's. The side dishes were also amazing. Will definitly be back.
The three of us sat at the bar for dinner.. SSCrab..mmmmmm and I had my Filet with a few sides..perfect..frozen brandy freeze for dessert! Thanks

After surviving hurricanes and a fire, this family-owned restaurant has thrived in the Lakeview neighborhood. It hasn't caved to the increased prices of other steak restaurants but instead continues to provide a quality dining experience for families, business dinners and other clientele. The service is impeccable, the wine and drink prices are reasonable and competitive, the food is rich and savory. Our only critique is that they are not open for longer hours. The Steak Knife is a real treat!

This place is a gem! Everything from the time you walk in. My husband and I sat at the bar which is a beautiful set up where you can eat and enjoy your meal. There's also a full service dining room completely separate from the bar. This place is such a treat, our favorite so we have basically tried everything on the menu. The apps are so fresh the smoked salmon served w cream cheese and toast points topped w capers, Yumm! The crab claws are meaty w tons of flavor and the onion rings, thin and crispy just so good. If you like escargot you will love the way this one is prepared! I could go on but let me tell y'all about the steaks. I love the filet MR it comes on a sizzling plate drizzled w fresh butter. My husband went for the ribeye R, also on a bubbling buttery plate, talk about cleaning his plate! Everything is made to order so it's nice to try a Caesar salad while you wait for the main course. Another win! The complementary bread and butter is even that good. Try the cream spinach, we went for the augratin potatoes as well! It's so hard to chose a side, there's plenty to choose from all delicious! Don't forget to inquire about their specialty chocolate Martini for dessert! If you have never been you truly are missing out! Chef's Kiss!
Our party of two was shown promptly to a nice table in the main dining room. We gave our server, the five-star Jonathan, our drink orders and while we were waiting, we saw the hostess fall (quite gracefully, honestly) out of her shoe. A table near us managed to catch a napkin on fire and did not realize it for entirely too long. Jonathan made sure we knew more bread was available, if we wanted it, twice. When my husband asked for his steak as rare as possible, Jonathan asked us "Pittsburgh?" We replied "What?" and that was the end of that line of questioning. Our meals came in a very timely fashion and our steaks were cooked perfectly. When it came time for dessert, we were told creme brulee was an option; then, apologetically, Jonathan informed us they did not have any because the old lady who used to make them had died and the new ones were just okay. Steak Knife provided us with dinner and a show and we highly recommend.

Service was fantastic. Everyone was very welcoming, attentive, and very accommodating. Atmosphere was great. Food was fresh and good. Wine list was a little limited but quite adequate. Overall a great place.
I know the Roth family, and they do an excellent job. Being a pianist, I have also played music at the Steak Knife. Enjoyable everytime, includes eating, entertaining, and socializing. Great experience every time!
Their steaks are excellent, cooked to perfection. Also delicious is their paneed chicken (one if Wednesday's specials), fresh grilled vegetables and baked potatoes. There is a full bar with seating available or have your party at one of many private tables. The wait staff is very attentive and genuinely concerned about your dining experience. I've never had to complain about my order which was always as perfect as it was delicious every time. This is truly a very special place.
This place was a standby for us pre Katrina when we lived closer. I was concerned with the negative reviews. BUT, our experience lived up to our previous expectations. Service was great. Steaks cooked perfectly. Sides more than enough—the cheese sauce on the broccoli could be a meal in itself. Wine was perfect match. Topped off by desserts and a bill that didn’t make your heart stop. We’ll be back.
Food and service was exceptional. Our party of 5 very different eaters all found menu items that were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. No one in our party was disappointed. Alvin, our Server, was spot on. Definitely on our we are going back list
On a recommendation, we changed our reservations to The Steak Knife to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were greeted promptly by the person at the reservation desk and shown to our table. The cocktails were perfect, the appetizer of Escargot in mushroom caps were great. We had the special soup of the day, a corn and crab bisque which was delicious and split a steak which was cooked to order as requested. The waiter was very personable, attentive and had good suggestions. The only complaint is that the restaurant did not comp the birthday dessert which is a poor management decision.
The best crab meat salad I have ever eaten. Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere.
