I had high expectations here and they were all met. The presentation was impressive. The service was also really good. I definitely did not need a drink before my wine tasting. They pushed that a little too much. Our whole table was already doing a pairing. But it was fine. I would recommend champagne before the wine tasting or something light. The wines were all delicious and paired nicely with each plate. The ambiance was perfect. Expect to spend 500 min a person. Overall, I would definitely recommend this experience.
I had high expectations for this restaurant.
Pros:
The appetizers were very tasty, my favourite was the complimentary soup. The portions were just right.
I liked that you have different options for your dinner. It was kinda like a set menu but you have the freedom to choose different dishes for your meal.
The flavours were good for some of the dishes, I felt like they were trying to play with different cuisines. It was not only French but a little bit of Asian, for example the shrimps with coconut sauce. A bit of Caribbean with the fruits added to the dessert.
Cons:
Although the service was good I felt rushed because you have to decide all your options at the beginning of your meal with the little time provided.
They served bread but it’s cold.
Some of the dishes tasted good but it wasn’t like wow either.
Some of the desserts were an interesting take on Asian styled desserts. But the balance of sweet and sour was off as the dessert was sour.
The linen on the table is old and worn out. It was not comfortable to touch nor look at as there were lint all over the middle of the table. Being a high end restaurant, we were expecting a lot more for attention to details.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Le Bernardin, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. The innovative use of a beef bourguignon sauce on a seafood dish showcased the chef's creativity and culinary expertise. The flavors were a harmonious dance on my palate, creating a memorable and delightful dining experience. The attention to detail and the perfect execution of this unexpected pairing truly set Le Bernardin apart. Highly recommend for those seeking a gastronomic adventure!
Wow - everything was exceptional!
We went here for our anniversary. Everything from the food to the service was top notch.
The service was polished, attentive, knowledgeable, and professional.
We highly highly recommend getting the wine pairing with the chef’s 8 course tasting menu. The wine paired perfectly with every dish we had and it really enhanced the flavor of every bite we had.
Pro tip - do not eat or drink anything prior. Don’t let those small plates fool you. We were really full from all the courses, that I had to ask for my dessert to go! The plates look small, but trust me you’ll be full by the end of it. This is in the best way possible! You’ll get your moneys worth.
And as for the wine pairing, they will pour solid glasses, so do not and I repeat do not go to a happy hour prior. Don’t even have one drink prior. Towards the end of the meal I had to ask my husband to help me finish my wine because their pours were generous. (As it should be, you’ll get your moneys worth!).
I can go on and on about the caviar, perfectly cooked and seasoned fish, the jus, etc. every bite is intentional and I am just so happy I got to experience their art and passion.
Le Bernardin is a seafood paradise at its finest. I was lucky to come here for lunch and dinner to assess consistency in service, taste and cooking. I am a seafood aficionado, the flavors here were spectacular. Sauces were savory and complex, complimented fish very well. My favorite and most memorable dish was the Seared Langoustine; Swest Corn Mousseline with Spiced Coconut-Lime Emulsion. Wine pairings and choices were above average, there’s a mistake in one of the pairings at dinner. Ambience is luxurious, buzzing and relatively loud. Service was good but lacked consistency between lunch and dinner. I felt some staff and sommelier seemed a bit busy, rushed or overwhelmed. Desserts were good but nothing was unique or distinguishable for a three starred restaurant. Overall, I was satisfied with the seafood courses but experience was slightly subpar when compared to other three Michelin stars restaurants I have been to, they just didn’t push their gastronomical boundaries. The “wow” or “truly exceptional” factor was missing especially in wine, service and desserts.
This classic flagship from Eric Ripert offers stunning seafood in a beautiful setting. The menu doesn’t quite have the wow factor of the three-star Michelin newcomers, but classically-prepared seafood is expertly prepared and beautifully plated. Service is formal and attentive, although some improvement could be made to better anticipate guest needs and create memorable experiences. The space is timeless, minimal and beautiful, anchored by amazing floral displays. It’s a great option for a special occasion for seafood lovers.
Lucky to revisit. Before coming here, I rarely appreciate western seafood cooking as I was spoiled by ample choices of raw and steamed seafood from the East. This recent meal was again of the highest standard with perfect delectable dishes and top attentive service. This is what a Michelin Three star experience should be, perfect from start to finish!
I had the pleasure of experiencing Le Bernardin’s chef’s tasting menu in New York, and it was truly a culinary masterpiece. From the moment the first course arrived, it was evident that this dining experience was going to be exceptional. The presentation of each dish was a work of art, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and creativity.
The complexity of flavors in every bite was a revelation. Each course showcased a harmonious blend of ingredients, skillfully combined to create a symphony of tastes that danced on the palate. The way they balanced delicate textures with bold flavors was nothing short of remarkable.
The service at Le Bernardin was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that guided me through the menu with grace and enthusiasm. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience, providing an elegant and comfortable setting that allowed the food to take center stage.
In conclusion, my experience at Le Bernardin was a culinary adventure that left a lasting impression. The chef’s tasting menu showcased incredible food that was not only presented beautifully but also exuded a depth of flavors that delighted and surprised my taste buds. It’s a dining experience that I will cherish and remember for years to come.
Four of us had their lunch tasting menu and tried everyone's dishes so we got to check ~10 each.
Service was what you'd expect from a 3-star Michelin place. So was the ambience.
Food was a bit more hit or miss. Some dishes were truly original or provoking. Others were more familiar of a "Bib Gourmand" restaurant that is an order of magnitude less expensive.
Even among the highly regarded restaurant list in NYC, I found the food less enticing than places like Gabriel Kreuther.
I loved Le Bernadin. I'm a vegetarian and tried the 4 course prix fixed. The artichoke appetizer was refreshing and had so much flavor. The mushroom pasta dish was so delicious. And the hazelnut dessert and corn ice cream was also just wonderful wonderful
Had the three course lunch. Great experience with very exceptional dishes. Seafood at the highest standard. Attentiveness and care from the staff is beyond outstanding. Would love to return again.
Outstanding service and outstanding food. Sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and helped us pick the perfect bottle that went with everything we chose for our four course prix fixe menu.
The three amuse bouche were so tasty and an excellent way to start the meal. The langoustine was by far my favorite course.
My boyfriend loved the fresh baked breads so much, they snuck some into our coat check for us and surprised us on the way out. We even got a personal tour of the kitchen, which was impeccable and so well ordered - it was a surreal experience.
This was my first time at Le Berdanin. I did not have a reservation so walked into the lounge and got a place immediately. I had the 4 course menu. Service was impeccable. Food was good too. The tuna appetizer was the most innovative item for me. The lobster appetizer that was recommended was good but not outstanding. Loved the toasted almonds on the dole and yet the sauce kept me asking for more. There was a flat singular taste to the dish. The pistachio dessert was good and while the gelato was great, the praline did not do much for me. Overall good. As a seafood enthusiast, I was expecting something more. Some of the dishes felt like I could have eaten them at other good seafood restaurants too.
They offered a surprise starter which was a sea bass and a squash soup. Those were excellent! They also gave a complimentary dessert tray at the end. Overall, felt full at the end.
Just being picky, Good food though. Nothing that came was bad.
The food at Le Bernardin is ok but I’m not sure is my favorite fine dining experience in NYC. The service is great and space is nice but I prefer a more relaxed energy. The food was presented beautifully but the flavors were just ok for my palate and the portions very small. The desserts were very nice and the plates used to serve the food beautiful.
Must go place for seafood in NYC. If i had to pick just one restaurant in NYC for recommendations, le bernardin would be.
Food , service , atmosphere are marvelous every time i go. Best dover sole ever. If course all other dishes are excellent.
So, I’m not even sure where to start. We had the standard 4 course dinner. The tuna with foie gras and the shellfish medley were by far some of the best things I’ve ever eaten and definitely some of the most memorable of my life. For a French restaurant it felt like there was a significant amount Japanese influence in some of the dishes and it was greatly welcomed. The tuna and foie was reminiscent of eating toro and the shrimp custard in the medley was heavenly. In addition to the 4 course meal (three savory, one dessert) we were served an amuse-bouche and a small 4 piece dessert sampler. The service was flawless, and all of the courses were served consecutively without delay.
