We went to Pure Thai Cookhouse on a Sunday lunch time. It is on 9th Avenue between 51st and 52nd Street, a small cosy establishment. When we walked in we were greeted with a cheery ‘sawasdee’ and secured a table within 5 minutes. The menu was traditional Thai and between three of us we chose chicken satay and beef dumplings/buns to start.

On a Saturday night there was a short weight however it merited each second. The administration was stunning. The staff is so darn cordial! The nourishment was great, and that is no exaggeration. The main slight drawback is the tables are amazingly near one another, and the couple by us was making out, no joke, opposite one another so it was somewhat cumbersome. They moved us into the long table and made our supper the feature of the day

Great food and service

Just two blocks from the theater district- this tiny Thai place was great. You may walk right by but it’s worth finding. Upon being seated, they brought a small bottle of cold water - check! I ordered stir fried vegetables with tofu medium spicy. It was so tasty. The sauce was light and flavorful with a great selection of fresh veggies. I’ll be back!

We ate here on the way to the theatre. The menu looked odd compared to what we're used to, fairly limited, but the food was great, very spicy and tasty, so I'd definitely recommend the place.

This place is in high demand, but well worth the wait. The food was excellent and the staff most helpful. We were attending the theater and our extra time expired quickly. We had to wait about 40 minutes to get seater. Once seated, we ordered and the food came immediately. It was perfectly prepared and lovingly served. A great place to enjoy Thai food!

Very nice small place with good food. I liked duck soup very much. I don't like that the restaurant doesn't make tables reservations. Prices are good, location perfect.

Food and service

An innocuous-looking shop but the place was packed with Asians longing for some asian food. The dry noodle I had was very tasty and so was the service. Strongly recommended anyone to check it out...

Small, cosy and authentic Thai restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. Be prepared for a wait to be seated, but it is normally fairly quick. We chose a range of dishes and there was plenty of variety for the vegetarians in the group.  Definitely one to try!

Went there on a Saturday afternoon and I my choice was the obvious pad thai. It was the only thing I tried at Pure Thai and, to be honest, I'm too biased to share a proper opinion about it (there's no way I wouldn't like a pad thai). However, 4 shrimps only? It was also disappointing that there was no sticky rice and mango for desert.

What an amazing afternoon... The best Thai food I've ever tried! The Ratchburi Dry Noodles were such a revelation. The perfect taste, healthy as possible and balanced way to end a shopping day in the city.
The place is always packed, expect a line to get a table, the restaurant is tiny and its hipped but please go... Totally worths it! :)

Pure Thai Cookhouse is one of the few authentic Thai eateries in Manhattan (the rest of them are all in Queens). Housed amongst several noodle shops and Thai restaurants on 9th Avenue, Pure Thai’s owners are David and Vanida Bank who also own Recipe and Land Thai Kitchen.

Pure Thai is their ode to their hometown’s street style eats and homemade noodles. This tiny spot squeezes in about 35 people and always has a line waiting outside.

The menu offers an awesome array of signature small plates that are big on flavor. All the noodle recipes are from within the family and are a must try. My favorite was the Nakorn Sawan which has a spectacularly delicate five spiced broth.

I also really love their “Beef with Turmeric” and “Thai Style Omelette” which is so common in Thailand but not so much here. Don’t skip dessert – their “Mango with Sticky Rice” is just outstanding.

Pure Thai Cookhouse offers plenty of superbly spiced dishes at an awesome price point and definitely warrants a visit/revisit/ visit/revisit!

This little Thai joint serves probably one of the best Thai food in the city! Their menu differs from the ubiquitous standard Thai restaurant menu in a good way. Great place and even better food.

Food is delicious and service exceptional. We were out walking on our first evening in NY. We looked at the Thai menu and talked to several people waiting outside. Everyone said it was good. The place is tiny but pleasant. Will go again!

This place is a true authentic Thai restaurant - trust me on this one as I am born and raised in Bangkok. The food was so delicious it was exactly like the street food we would get at home. Authentic Thai flavors with generous portion. My favorite is the dry noodles, papaya salad and the beef salad. The only dish I didn't love was the Pad Thai. It tasted very westernized and did not have a lot of "Thai" flavors. Try those dishes and top your meal off with a Thai iced tea!

Not really a fan of thai food but thought I'd still give it a go ... Chicken curry puffs had a nice samoosa like filling with light puff pastry and a really lovely sweet and spicy dipping sauce, all of which went really well with each other ... The rest of the menu had a whole bunch of stuff I didn't understand ... So I ordered the dish with the soup noodles in beef broth with meatballs, which tasted extremely thai like ... The added chilli paste on the side gave the dish a really nice hit of heat which leaves you licking your lips trying to get rid of the burn ... All of which I really enjoyed

The food is delicious and the portions are very large. The atmosphere is cozy and busy and hot (in the summer). The service wasn't great but the food made up for it. Very random posters up on the walls as well, made for an interesting meal.

It took me a few minutes to find PTC because it's wedged between many other eclectic restaurants in Hell's Kitchen! It's tiny and narrow, decorated festively, blaring Thai pop music, and run by a pleasant, efficient staff. They probably can't seat more than 15-20 patrons, but they were still polite to let my friend and I enjoy our drinks during the dinner rush. And most importantly, the food is delicious. It tastes authentically like what I've eaten in Thailand, with it's subtle spices then punching chili-- you can even order Chang or Singha beer! It all costs twice as much as it should, but then again this is NYC. I highly recommend going their with a friend and enjoying their food because it's worth the whole ambiance.

Fabulous. Tried this little gem while on vacation and wanted to go back the next day but they were closed for the 4th. Highly recommend papaya salad with fresh blue crab, extra spicy of course. My husband enjoyed his Pad Thai but prefer the one back in Charlotte. End with the sticky rice sweet dessert. I also agree that the place is tiny but the food was great. Only regret is not having room for the homemade noodles. Will be recommending this place.

In the sea of mediocre Thai restaurants in Hells Kitchen, comes a new beacon of decent hope from Pure Thai Cookhouse . Pure Thai, from the same owners as my other favorite uptown Thai eatery ( Land Thai , on both the UWS and UES), is a funky little spot wedged on the sad 9th Ave strip. The vibe is cool and eclectic, with just simple dark woods and funky Asian decor, and a smattering of small tables (no reservations though! It gets busy!).  We opted for a community table in the back, which means you eat alongside strangers, which is fine if you've ever eaten in New York's Chinatown by your lonesome (who needs friends though, when you can eat a whole crispy chicken with garlic sauce by yourself?). Like Land, Pure Thai has the same amazing veggie dumplings - and I am never one to want to eat veggie anything except for these nutty, spinach wrapped little boogers. The papaya salad was fresh, perfectly dressed in a spicy, tart and tangy fish sauce. Veggie eggrolls had a crispy,

I was in NYC for work a couple weeks ago and since I was on a time crunch, I wanted to find a restaurant that was accessible, cheap, ethnic (that wasn’t well represented Calgary), and had a high Urbanspoon rating. I wasn’t asking for much was I?  Atlas, I found a place that really called out to me, Pure Thai Cookhouse Pure Thai Cookhouse is located in the Hell’s Kitchen area – the very west side of Midtown West in Manhattan on 9th Ave between W 51st Street and W 52nd Street. As the name states, it’s a Thai restaurant but rumou

I can’t speak to much else on the Pure Thai menu, except for one thing: Their Krabi seafood noodle soup. The menu notes that it’s “not recommended for novices” and they’re not lying – that bowl had a funk that even I, a usually adventurous eater, couldn’t get used to. Order with caution.

I know I will receive a lot of flak for this one, but I have to be honest. I recently enjoyed a Thai meal in Manhattan. Shocking, yes, as usually I either roll my eyes or audibly scoff any mention of Thai food outside of the few very good restaurants in Queens that exist. Sure, Pam Real Thai Food is ok, but now it has a little Hell's Kitchen competition. You walk past a cute miniature kitchen preparation area in the front when you go in, but all of our food came from the back, so I am unclear what is done

I love this place! Great atmosphere and decorations, reminded me of back home in Asia (Vietnam and Thailand). Foods are amazingly delicious. Very carefully made and tasty. Sugarcane ice-cream is a perfect way to ending the meal. Staffs are friendly and great service. I’m highly recommend Pure Thai Cookhouse.

Super reliable place for dinner! Even on a busy Friday night, just called in advance and a 30 min walk later our table was ready. Love the vibe too, super cozy and nice for a dinner with friends. The noodles are all solid, not the best Thai I've ever had but a good meal. The best thing IMO is the sticky rice for dessert! They usually have seasonal flavors like mango or pumpkin custard. Soooooo yum!

It was my first time eating Thai food. I liked some of the food but wished it was seasoned more. The fried chicken wings were great. Steamed chicken buns are good as well Wish we didn't have to sit way in the back on stools while everyone else in the restaurant had real chairs.

PureThai belongs in the all-star category for Thai / Asian Food in NYC. They have Hell's Kitchen prices, but one of the places that is really worth it if you value and can recognize incredible Thai food. Extremely authentic and incredibly nuanced flavors in the curry paste and every dish we had. Service + atmosphere definitely add to the authentic Thai experience. PS don't pass up on their starters..

Food was fantastic and the servers were top notch. They all were very friendly, kept our glasses filled, and removed trash and empty plates almost instantly. I only got pics of the Thai tea and apps because it looked so good we all starting eating immediately.

The pork and crab noodle dish was really flavorful and yummy. The special dried beef salad was tasty but smaller than expected. The pad kee mao chicken had good flavors, the rice noodles were a little different in texture than most other Thai restaurants. The atmosphere was ok. There was fun music playing but not loud enough to disrupt conversations. However, the space is just way too tight. We were seated next to a couple we don't know with our small table literally connected to theirs. When the girl turned around, she flung her hair and whipped at my arm. So the space was annoyingly tight. The service was overall good. I enjoyed the flavors in the food but I think some dishes had fair to generous portions while other dishes were very small portions like the dry beef salad. Overall I had a good experience, but I hope my honest feedback provides some areas for improvements.

Great place. For starters got the chicken satay buns and the fried chicken wings. Both taste nice. For mains got the chicken fried rice and chicken pad kee mao. Fried rice was okay, pad kee mao was good. Their most unique offering I would say is the dessert. Got the sugarcane ice cream with the pineapple jelly. It was simply amazing. The prices are reasonable. Quantity is good for 2-3 for main dishes. Nice stop.

Quick spot for Thai food, or a relaxed atmosphere for friends. I got the Pad see ew with beef. The noodles were perfect and they gave a large helping of tender beef so that every bite had beef. Good sauces on the table too to add some heat.

Love authentic thai noodle soup in different style but not included with the noodle part. (it’s very difficult to find in the US) I went there 2 times for my NY trip and buy 1 to go home. All staff are great as well. I had “Ten” taking a good care of. He is very in details of everything even to go order. Another thing i like is decoration in the restaurant that make me feel like thailand ;-) This place is best noodle soup so far.

This restaurant came recommended to us by a good friend from NY during our visit there. It was absolutely incredible. The food and experience was so authentic. I felt like it was a fairly quiet compared to other restaurants in NY. The staff were very helpful in coming up with recommendations on what to order. The chicken Satay Steam Buns were one of my favorite things we ordered. It was so fluffy and the flavors were incredible. We also had the roasted chili entree and it had the perfect amount of spice. If you are looking for a good Thai place in NY, look no further.

Cozy, delicious Thai spot offering a well curated menu of classics and daily specials. The service was friendly and fast and the ambiance was casual but comfortable. The flavors are well balanced/spiced and not overly sugary. Both the seafood and soup special and the classic dishes we ordered were fantastic, plus the amazing pumpkin custard and coconut sticky rice dessert! Overall great value for price.
