Joe's Pizza is the absolute best pizza in New York City!! I have visited both Carmine Street and the one in the theatre district and the food quality and serving size is amazing for a good price. I had a deep dish, cheese and pepperoni slice. The lines are always a bit annoying and the service could be better but what you are paying for is the pizza and the name; and both couldn't be better!! Will absolutely return when I'm next in New York.

The pizza here was to die for. I ordered a slice of fresh mozzarella and oh god it was amazing. It was cheesy, but not too overwhelmingly so, and it went so well with the tomato sauce. The crust was crispy and chewy where the sauce were but the combination of cheese, crust and sauce was just out of this world.
If you want to eat good pizza in New York, this could be the space. Pizza is always coming out. They have the simplest, the cheese one, one with peperonni and others. The price is also pleasent.

As a tourist, this is exactly what I was looking for. It was really good pizza overall, but I have to say I liked the dough the most. I got nice and crispy without being burnt. For $1 you can't go wrong!
Ate at three different pizza places this trip and Joe's totally won the pizza battle for us this time around. It was so good. I do recommend going with the simple cheese slice. Great sauce, crust, and cheese. Was so good made a quick stop for one more slice on the way out of town.

For forty dollars you can eat up to 3 people. This place is characterized by having the best pizza dough in the area. A handmade product, with fresh ingredients allow to have a festival of flavors and move you to the beautiful Italy.
Best Sicilian I've ever had. Its not my usual go to since Joe's cheese slice is exactly what I usually want, but I decided to try it tonight and I'm hooked.
The service was friendly and the place seems pretty true to the original. But Joe's is about two things. Consistently excellent slices and late night satisfaction. At this location the pizza hits the nail on the head (at least the Sicilian and the cheese which I had so far) and they told me they'd be open late night as well, so I'm sure they'll be getting a lot of my money!
I didn't have one tonight but they have the imported Coke with the real sugar cane.
If you haven't tried it yet its definitely worth stopping in and testing it out, and if you have eaten at Joe's before you don't need me to tell you about it.
When hippoCHAN was at school, I was browsing YouTube and stumbled upon Buzzfeed’s Worth It Video featuring pizza at three drastically different price points. Starting off at $2 was Joe’s Pizza, a classic New York pizzeria. It looks absolutely delicious on camera, so hippoCHAN and I headed down to Greenwich Village to check it out for ourselves.
Right when I entered this place, I was brought to a new world. This place had the heart of a true pizza place. It reminded me of the Ninja Turtles. Th slices were so amazing. I liked how the restaurant felt like a real city pizza place. It was not flashy, but it had a really authentic feel and I felt like I was brought to a new world. The service was amazing and each member of the team had a real passion for their art. I would love to go back someday when I visit NYC again. The best part of everything was the taste of the pizza Each bite was crispy and the cheese was very juicy and delicious. The dough was made to perfection. I loved it!
I always make a point to stop at Joe's Pizza. This is THE best pizza spot that I have tried in New York and if you're looking for the classic, world famous New York Pizza, this is where to go. They have a large selection of toppings and delicious pizza, the crust is just right and the slices are big, and the price is quite good too! They also have a large selection of pastas and other italian dishes, so if you're not in the mood for pizza, they still have some great options. I recommend the chicken parm as well. The atmosphere is laid back and they're always quick to serve you. If you're ever in the are I definitely recommend stopping by Joe's!
Busy bustling place with simple and fairly yummy New York pizzas. Would have loved a bit more flavour in the sauces , but certainly not bad pizza. Enjoyed the pepperoni and mozzarella.
A friend recommended Joe's and we sure were glad we went. There was a small line up when we arrived. Their main pizzas are just cheese, pepperoni and mozzarella but simplicity is best. The crust was thin and crispy and overall just yummy. A lot of celebrity sightings there apparently as there are pictures on the walls but unfortunately didn't see anyone.
I was informed by friends, New Yorkers, and online articles that this place was a must try while I was visiting the city, and I understand why. The line is out the door, even between meal hours and in the middle of the week, however it moved quickly. The pizza was delicious and they offer glass bottled soda, which I love. A few weeks ago I went in New York for the first time. I spent 5 amazing days there and ended up walking 72km around Manhattan, Brooklyn and Williamsburg. Before my trip I made a list of some places and restaurants I wanted to try. Joe’s Pizza was one of them. Opened in 1975, Joe’s Pizza became an institution in Greenwich village by specialising in authentic New York style pizza and now has three different branches across New York. It's also featured in some movies and counts some celebrities as their loyal customers.
First time to NYC and several people told me I had to try pizza at Joe's. Ordered a couple of slices and was very happy with it. Crust has a good chew but not too much and crispy on the outside. Awesome pizza experience.
Great crust, great sauce, and decent enough pepperoni.
The prices are low and it is open till early morning.
There are high tables to stand at, and a few high stools. They only take cash, and there is an ATM outside. If not too late at night you can walk over the little park right across the road and sit with your slice.
Can't ask for anything more.

This pizza place is amazing. We went simple ordering, a cheese pizza and it was great. I liked how they were fast with service even though they have a ton of people to serve. A really peculiar aspect that stood out to me, was the fact that they gave us fresh parmigiana cheese. It was so different that the usual bottled cheese we typically put on our pizza. I would recommend standing in line on a weekday, or coming early for lunch or dinner. They don't take reservation and there is ALWAYS a line to get inside the restaurant. I just love the food though.
Joes Pizza - WOWZA! I could eat this all day every day (to be honest I kinda did at one stage). This small, unpretentious little slice of heaven in Greenwich village is exactly what pizza should be - crisp, fresh, full of flavour and simply served. I ADORE Joe's and hanging for my next slice. Highly recommend.
Joe's pizza are greate. Have a lot of types, i eat a simple pizza only for travel money. But i recomendes. Pepperoni are reale amazing. American pepperoni the real!. I love it.
If you want the best New York style pizza then Joe's is your place! This place is particularly famous because of all the celebrities that have been there and because the location was filmed in Spider-Man. We ordered 3 cheese pizza pies (big fam) and every single bite was as good as the first. I've never been so satisfied after eating that much pizza. Thanks Joe for making my stomach happy :)
Good pizza in the village. I'm a sucker for pepperoni and enjoyed the slice. Thin slices but lots of flavor so it really hits the spot. Washed it down with a soda. NY has many pizza places and this is a good one.

For an old school slice of New York pizza you can't go wrong with Joe's. The regular cheese slice is a simple, no-frills slice with a crust that strikes the right balance between crunchy and chewy, quality cheese, and a tomato base that's tangy but not artificially sweet.
You also can't go wrong with the margherita and pepperoni slices. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Tasty pizza slices. Small shop that had many people eating pizza inside and out. We walked past it and thought we would give it ago and tried their cheese slice with pepperoni. Very thin slices that had lots of flavour but my husband wasn't wowed by it. They did have lots of photos with famous celebrities so it must be popular!

Man, What a Slice!. After eating my weight in pizza during our 2 week trip to NYC I found Joe's by far delivered the best slice. Yes we visited those 'must tries', followed advice from residents, and waited in line like an idiots for over rated slices but we found the no frills, crispy yet chewy dough, tangy tomato base and mild peperoni pizza at Joe's far superior.
The best? It's a matter of personal taste.. Joe's is a great slice! It it the BEST? Very very tough call in NYC, there are so many great pizzerias.
To avoid such a volatile subject, I definitely think Joe's is among the best in the city and definitely recommend a visit.
Best Slice in the Village. This is a very simple slice, but it is representative of what a NY slice should be. The crust has the perfect texture and snap. The sauce is simply made from tomatoes without a lot of seasoning or any artificial sweetness. The cheese is quality.
The slice represents knowhow and craftsmanship that makes a well balanced crunchy slice. All those famous people on the wall can't be wrong.

Famous or Not, They Conduct Tours of This Place. John's up the street on Bleecker is a funky pizza palor, this place is a tiny hole in the wall dive that serves great pizza, and by the slice, if you please.
There are no tables, only some stools and food resting areas against the walls on two sides. You go to the front counter, call your slice, pay, and wait impatiently for the call. Often and early, there will be a small tour group inside, and you will hear the guide lecture on the simple uniqueness of this place. There may be better pizza, but few places that serve pizza with as much charm and character.
My 2nd real NY slice. On a walking tour stop we had a slice from the very efficient Famous Joe's. You got the feeling you better know what you want. Overall, a good slice, but I've had better.

I prefer the standard slice, but the fresh mozz is very good. Just not salty enough. As far as the new location isn't as good". They've had a second storefront for years, nothing else has changed. Still tiny and cramped, but just a little less so.

We ate here on our first trip to New York. We were just trying to get out of the rain and thought we would try them out. The pizza was delicious! Loved the famous people photos who had ate there on the wall. I would recommend this to anyone visiting New York. This location is close to One World Trade.
I'm not sophisticated enough to explain why it was better than similar pizzas, but it was. It just had the right amount of bite and crispness on the crust and flavors were just right. I only tried the basics, cheese and pepperoni but they were good.

Would I walk miles to have this pizza if I lived in New York? Probably not. There are pizza places everywhere and unless you are going to the dollar slice places the pizza will be decent. However, it would be my preferred slice if convenient.
Good New york pizza ! No seating area, only the standing table are available and they have only 2 tables in front of the shop and one counter inside. Fresh made pizza all the time. You can wait for the new one come out from the oven and get your pizza. Not expensive and taste good. Really enjoy to stop by for NYC pizza. They have other location you can try.

We made sure to stop by on our vacation to try Joe's Pizza. It was very busy but the service was quick and we did not have to wait long. The actual restaurant is small so it did feel a bit crowded with the amount of people inside. We got a slice of fresh mozzarella, Sicilian square cheese, and cheese pizza. They were delicious! The slices are thin crust but huge. For some reason only the Sicilian and cheese pizza were warmed up. The place was cash only so make sure you have cash if you're planning to go.

Sometimes you just have to sit down, admire and order another slice. Well, after the Cheese Slice I actually had to try a slice of everything on the menu. This is the best base on a slice you’ll find in New York City. Couple that with a sauce that matches Scarrs and you have yourself something to keep coming back for again and again!

Good ratio of cheese to sauce. Sauce has a strong tomato flavor and isn't sweet. The crust has structure. Cheese has just the right amount of brown-ness to it.

Amazing pizza place. The cheese pizza was good but the pepperoni was much better. Very local type feel. The line moves fast and you better know what you want. We were able to sit at the counter looking out at the street and fountain. Felt very much like a local eating here. The pizza was my favorite pepperoni in the city. I accidentally put more garlic on my pizza thinking it was Parmesan cheese. Make sure you know what toppings you put on the pizza.
One of the best slices I have had in a long time. Worth the wait. Cash only, they have drinks as well. Chase ATM down the street. Would highly recommend.
