Great food. We had a very attentive server that was able to recommend very good dishes since it was our first time visiting the restaurant. We were there for my wife’s birthday and I had only requested a small desert for her, they brought out 2 glasses of champagne and a desert with candles for her, which is beyond what I expected and was completely taken aback by the amazing gesture on their behalf. It definitely made my wife feel special and for that I am infinitely grateful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits NY.

We had a wonderful lunch. The crudos are mouthwatering and refreshing with each bite. We also had the pasta dishes. The wheat fussilli with octopus and red wine bone marrow sauce was delicious. The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy, which allows you to have a great conversation. The wine list is very heavy on Italian but you can find a great bottle under $125 for your meal which can be challenging in NYC.

The culinary experience was extraordinary...The service was less than stellar. Our server never told us his name & we were given up charges on all items in our 4-course prix fix "trust the chef" dinner without notification...I would expect better than that from a server, when we spend $1k on dinner for 5. The food however, was exquisite.

The halibut was the best I’ve ever tasted. So flavorful and tender. Who knew halibut could be this good? The asparagus and lobster risotto was cooked perfectly. The food is the highest quality and artistry. The wait staff was good, but didn’t seem like professional waiters—more “good help.” Still, for food alone, it is 5 stars.

Fantastic experience! Amazing food, the yellowfin tuna was incredible! Actually everything was perfect. The staff was kind and observant, very easy to get eye contact with. We never waited for too long. It was so nice and smooth. So thank you!

Finished a great lunch at "Marea" near Central Park. Don't usually eat stuff you can't pronounce, but this is a Michelin 2 star restaurant ! Italian is still my real favorite and this oceanic paradise is great. Foccacia is best I've had. Deserves every accolade. Beautiful food that almost too good to eat. Everything is more than delicious. We had dessert that couldn't describe or pronounce. As good as Keri R Anderson might make. Wish I had better taste-o-vision pics of the dessert. OMG! BRING YOUR AWESOME!

My husband and I dined here this past Saturday evening for the first time, and we enjoyed it very much. The lobster burrata appetizer and octopus app were delicious, as were the pasta dishes we selected for our entrees. From the fresh baked bread to cappuccino and dessert... delizioso! Our server, Michael, was also outstanding. We will definitely be returning during our next trip to the city.

Went for a drink and a snack. Shared a short rib tortellini that was excellent. Reminded me of a meal I had there that was also excellent.

Everything was packed with flavor! That is all that really matters to me. The dining room is pretty loud. That seems to be by design, but I do not like having to raise my voice when speaking with others at my table. I enjoyed everything I ate, including this risotto.

Capesante was my favorite dish; it was refreshing and well-balanced. Bombalani was uniquely delicious, sugar-coated donuts with pomegranate and chocolate sauce. The risotto was too salty and plain. Beautiful interior design with top service.

Went here for a birthday meal as Marea had been a place I'd heard about and kept meaning to visit. Specializing in seafood we went heavy on the fishy side of things. Certainly the seafood we had for the first 2 courses were great tasting and had nothing to fault them on. The duck main dish we had was also lovely. I was disappointed somewhat with the desserts though. I was hoping for similar quality as Lincoln Ristorante as I'd read that the head chef had moved over from that restaurant and always loved their desserts. Sadly, the tiramisu was a strange frozen concoction, not really sure what the pastry chef was trying to achieve there. The bomboloni (AKA donuts) was better and I probably would have been happy if I hadn't had a much better iteration at Casa Limone (and a better selection of other yummy desserts). Have it at that restaurant and you'll understand why the Marea version underwhelmed. It was pretty heaving with people when we got there and the bar right next to the entrance certainly increased the hub bub. Which put me off as I prefer quieter restaurants, but unfortunately that wasn't to be as there were a lot of people there discussing business. Should have rung my alarm bells as one of the recommendations I had was from a sales person at work. The decor is nice, but the tables felt cramped together for such a high end restaurant, the crowded bar didn't help with that feeling and that meant you could overhear a lot of conversations, especially the business meals. Don't know if it's always like that but it was definitely a turn off. The other problem I had was that the dishes were just way over priced. The total bill was heading towards tasting course territory. And that was only with a few drinks, 2 of which were non-alcoholic. I suspect that was a consequence of it being a business meeting hangout and lots of expense accounts... The ambiance killed the experience for me, loved most of the food, but once was quite enough for me!

every time i’m in the city i go to this restaurant at least once. their sashimi taste better than the sushi restaurants ive been to around the city. i have not yet eaten a dish where i didn’t enjoy. the service is efficient and the waiters are friendly. though sometimes the waiters care a lot about their tips and ordering the more expensive dishes.

Overall the food here is good, but not amazing, especially for the price and the michelin star. Pólipo - one octopus tentacle cooked beautifully, soft and tender while having that slight snap, and came with a balsamic vinegar reduction and tonnato sauce, providing a balance of sweet, umami and sour. Also had some sort of bitter green, sweet red onions, and roasted potatoes for completeness. Fusilli - a tubular and relatively firm pasta, with a well balanced tomato sauce that pairs nicely with the beautifully cooked and tender octopus inside, with some breadcrumbs on the top as well. Spigola - Seared sea bass with a green lemon based puree along with some green beans and a fried celery stuffed with a sort of cheese inside. Check out @bredgyeats for food pictures!

Excellent service and the food was great too. Go to Marea for well prepared seafood and well made pasta dishes. We ordered the crudos, a few pasta dishes and a seafood Secondi - all were excellently prepared. An espresso, Parmiagana-Raggiano gelato and tiramisu ended the meal perfectly.

My brother and I came here to celebrate his admission to UT. The service was remarkable but the taste didn’t match the price. One of the oysters didn’t smell and taste well. Our server immediately changed it after he knew this. The bone marrow spaghetti is very oily and I recommend people order this after careful considerations. We didn’t order entrees after tasting the spaghetti. The breads and desserts were the best in our meals. I love gelatos and the pine nut sauce! After all, it’s a good restaurant and maybe we hold way too high expectations after seeing those good reviews.

My family had a lunch before we go to the MET. Great location, right in front of the Central park and near Columbus circle. Ordered Astice (nova scotia lobster, burrata, basil, eggplant al funghetto) and Polipo (grilled octopus, smoked potato, radish, chili, tonnato) for Antipasti. For main, we ordered Spaghetti (manila clam, calamari, baby leek, garlic, peperoncino), Fusilli (red wine braised octopus, bone marrow), Capesante (pan-seared sea scallop, pear, pine nut, endive, roasted garlic vinaigrette) and Scampi (seared new zealand langoustine served with arugula, limone) 2 pieces. Both Secondi was good, especially Fusilli. Strongly recommend Capesante. Good size of scallops with nice brown outside and juicy inside. Not much to eat on Scampi, langoustines serving portion was too small, even after we ordered 2 pieces. We also ordered bottle of FRANCIACORTA ANIMANTE BARONE PIZZINI sparkling wine and it was very good and so was service.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I’ve been a few times now and I’m somehow more impressed each time! Highly recommend the ceviche, caviar, and the truffle pasta but really you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes!

The dishes here have a wonderfully complex flavor palette! Everything tried was multidimensional and rich. The service was extraordinary and the staff very friendly and polite. I waited a bit too long for my main chicken dish but other than that, everything was exceptional. It's a good place to have a business lunch or just to relax with some delicious pasta options.

One of our favorite restaurants in NYC. Fusilli with bone marrow and grilled octopus are our go-to dishes. For dessert, be sure to get their tiramisu.

from the minute we checked in for our reservation it was nothing but exceptional service. Our server for the night was John and we all loved him and wish he could've come out with us after. There is more to making a good restaurant than just good food and Marea had it all. The food was one of the best meals we had all had. Every dish came out looking perfect and extremely fresh. The ambience was great us girls were there for hours laughing and eating and drinking. Service was great. John had us cracking up and provided great food recommendations. We also bought 2 bottles of wine which the sommelier matched perfectly to what we were eating. I cannot wait for my next visit back to Marea.
