We had Luke's trio, consisting of half rolls of prawn, lobster and crab. The seafood was so fresh and the rolls had such a generous amount of butter. The service staff were really friendly too!
I don’t think I’ve ever had something so delicious. The shrimp roll was absolutely heavenly and the service was very fast and efficient. Worth the drive there honestly
I was having a craving for lobster while in NYC, but I didn't want to go through the whole ordeal of finding a place that serves it, and paying an exorbitant amount for some upscale seafood dinner. I wanted something casual, and I found it at Luke's Lobster. I ordered the Taste of Maine for about $25 which comes with a 1/3 of a lobster, 1/3 shrimp and 1/3 of a crab roll, chips and a drink. It was nice to be able to sample each of the popular sandwiches served. They bread was light and buttery, and each of the filling were very meaty and lightly seasoned and dressed so that the taste of the seafood stood out. The portions were okay. I've had larger elsewhere, but I was pretty full by the end. The only thing is that it was hard to find a seat without feeling elbow to elbow with the other diners. I know that is common in NYC, but it was still somewhat uncomfortable. I'd go back though. It was great!
Great ambience with bit of a small-town-beach-town feel. Good menu, reasonably priced. Portion size was bit of a letdown, but ok considering it is Upper East.
Fantastic place!! We had the Taste of Maine - 1/2 Lobster Roll, 1/2 Crab Roll, 1/2 Shrimp Roll, Cole slaw, soda, pickle and 2 crab claws.
We will go back soon. Restaurant just a few blocks from apartment.
Luke's is the best. Went by and picked up a Lobster roll. Set me back $16. I had to wait for 10 minutes. They handed me a paper bag with the roll and lobster inside. It was neat but disappointing to the eye- It was a small roll with garlic and butter that had permeated the toast. The lobster pieces were large and undamaged...cool but fresh. No other seasonings. It was fabulous. First class. I'm not convinced there is better lobster ANYWHERE in New York City.
Best lobster roll in NYC. Tasted like it was off the boat from Maine perfectly prepared
Simple but tasty.... I love this place. The seafood (lobster, crab, shrimp) is fresh, nicely chilled, not drenched in mayonnaise, and perfectly seasoned (with a light pepper concoction). All served on a nicely toasted, buttered bread - light and chewy. The lobster is my favorite, but really, it's all good.
Lobster is lobster. Whats not to like about lobster? Well apart from what u pay for it! Luke's lobster roll is fantastic...clam chowder also spot on.
The roll is a little small for 15-17 bucks ....but it is packed full of lobster. Probably most grown men will want to eat a least two or three...which makes it an expensive meal! Anyways, this is definitely the place to get that lobster rush you've been craving!
Freaking Amazing. Unbelievably good. Makes me want to move to Maine (or NYC) and live off of a diet of their lobster rolls. I can't say enough good things about this place. Worth every penny.
Tried the lobster, shrimp and crab rolls. I thought they were outstanding! Simply prepared and absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back. Thinking about the lobster roll as I type and salivating. (For my two cents enjoyed this even more than Ed's downtown. Luke's is less mayo and more pure enjoyment. Also less expensive.)

We couldn’t make up our minds about whether we wanted crab, or shrimp or lobster, so we had what Luke’s Lobster called Noah’s Ark. The best of all worlds.
This was really good. The place is small and crowded, not really a spot to sit and eat, but dont’ let that stop you, this lobster roll was pretty damn good.. I loved it. I’ll definitely return…
We happily stuffed ourselves, not being able stop eating until we had finished everything and prepared to leave

Luke Holden is the grand master of the lobster roll. Luke sources his seafood from the family business and that ensures using the best quality meats for his rolls. Luke’s Lobster has several locations in the city and they do the rounds of street fair such as Hester Street on the weekends.
Came here before heading to Central Park and thought the lobster was really fresh! I got the trio option and loved each flavor. So happy I got to try this place while visiting New York!
Really great place to grab a bite before visiting the Met.
Lobster roll is absolutely freakin delicious, I recommend the lobster sampler set because the spicy honey butter roll is so freakin good!!!!🤤🤤 I wish they would have a full lobster roll with only spicy honey butter though because I can't get enough of it.
Poppyseed slaw is also a very good side as it's not too expensive, adds veggie to your meal, and it just tastes so good.
Also the staff was very friendly (not overbearing which I like too). Many people seem to get take out so there were a lot of seats Sunday lunchtime.
This place is going on my recommended visit list for when my friends ask for recs for NYC restaurants :P
Food has phenomenal flavor, the Mac and cheese was nice and hot, although I was disappointed that for an 8oz cup @$15 the cup was not full to the top as you can see in the photo. But otherwise well done. The truffle lobster roll is the best, soft and tender.
I’m all about this lobster rolls 🤩
I try these for the first time in Miami and since then, every time I go to the US I look for the nearest store!!
It’s hard to decide whether the lobster or the crab roll 😅 I just love them both.
This store at Upper East Side is so cool, they made it just as a fisherman’s tavern, the staff is great, always smiling!
What else can I say? Just go and enjoy!
Lobster education is visually all over the restaurant. And I am thinking the education made the lobster taste better really fresher.
Tried the regular lobster rolls and the hot honey and truffle rolls. The hot honey was my favorite. Would go again, but it wasn’t the best ever.
lobster can't taste bad so obviously it was delicious. the sampler was a good way to try out the shrimp, lobster, and crab (each piece was 2oz whereas the regular size was 4oz & larger size was 6oz which just has more meat). this place is if you're willing to spend a good amount of money for yummy sandwiches. understandable for fresh seafood. but hey at least they give you a free bag of chips lol
Run, don’t walk, to Luke’s. I’m a lobster roll snob and their lobster roll e lapses those that I’ve had on the coast of Maine. Seriously, just the best.
Honestly, would’ve given them a 5-Star rating if we just had the lobster roll. It was absolutely stuffed with thick CHUNKS of soft sweet sweet lobster and it was just delicious, especially if you enjoy being able to actually taste the lobster and not be overwhelmed by the butter and sauces/mayo that some places tend to stuff their rolls with to overcompensate for the lack of lobster meat. NOT here.
Yes, the portion size is slightly small for the price BUT the flavour more then compensates for it.
The lobster Mac and Cheese, on the other hand, lacked much lobster. There were only two pieces in ours, in fact. But the m&c was creamy and soft so it wasn’t bad overall, just expected more lobster.
Staff are super friendly and amazing too!
Went there for the 1st time. After eating the most delicious lobster roll, I realized that I didn't receive what I ordered. When I brought it to the staff's attention they were ready to go above and beyond to make it right. I thanked them and told them it was ok because it gives me a reason to go back and try something else that I'm sure will be just as amazing.
