Went to buy some brownies as a gift - and gifted myself a congo bar. Wow - this was fabulous. It was kind of a take on a magic cookie bar. Coconut prevails. I loved it. And the brownies I delivered to the doctor's office staff were a hit. Lots of flavors to choose from. And you can get full size or bites.
These witches are totally bewitching! The brownies are moist and dense, but not doughy. So many different variants to choose from. I had the original Fat Witch and the Walnut Witch, both were nice, not too sweet. Got some of the smaller baby witches to share with friends, perfect gift idea!

Who doesn’t love a good Brownie?
In New York City’s Chelsea market, the Fat Witch Bakery has built an entire business on selling just brownies. Their brownies area called “witches” and you can get them in all kinds of bewitching flavors and sizes. What a marvelous concept!
They have a witch for any time of day and mood – Fat Witch, Blonde Witch, Java Witch, Breakfast Witch and so on. They even have bewitching hours every day from 5-8 Pm where you can buy a “Witch” for $1.50.
Each brownie comes individually wrapped with a cute Fat Witch logo on it. Their brownies are made with all natural ingredients, no preservatives or additives and are yummy! They have lots of samples available on site and their store and website is chock-full of combinations of goodies you can buy.
We stopped in while walking around Chelsea Markets (store is close to the 9th Ave entrance), lured by the interesting name and creative decor. Brownie ends were absolutely, incredibly delicious. We also had to pick up one of their mugs (who can resist drinking morning cup of coffee from the cup which says "Fat Witch" :) ). The only regret was that we didn't get brownie baking mix - I'm sure those would come out delicious.
Highly recommended.
Everyone's fave brownie in more than a few kinds.
Hardly Could Contain Her Joy. Purchased an original Fat Witch Brownie for my dining partner and let me just say she could hardly contain herself with joy. I ate a bit and I have to admit that it was good but wow it had an effect on her. If you want a chocolate fix and you are close, this is a must.
THE BEST BROWNIES EVER. These are the best brownies I've had in my entire life. They are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! `Nuff said.
Brownie-licious!. Best little brownies I've ever tasted. Great gift for the chocoholic or brownie addict in your life. I got my dad a box for his birthday once, and he hoarded them like crazy, refusing to share with anyone, although the cat did manage to get a few licks in...
Different varieties, including walnut, blondies (aka "blonde witches"), and even a mint-flavored one. Fast, efficient online ordering and reliable delivery. Cute shop that's fun to visit too.
Tip: Stick your little witches in the freezer. No need to eat 'em all at once!
Starting with the blondie brownie-I really liked this one the best of the two. It had a strong vanilla taste that I liked, was chewy and it had large chocolate chips mixed throughout. On the other hand, the breakfast witch, which is an oatmeal-based brownie was just average
However I was swept away by the Fat Witch Bakery the first time I tried their sample. It is perfectly fudgey without being oversweet.
Fat Witch bakes all of its goodies on the premises, so you can rest assured that they're fresh. None of that Entenmann's stuff that could be a week old by the time you pick it up at the supermarket. Fat Witch's specialty brownies aside, they have about ten standards. I bought six to try. Some were good, but others were less than impressive.

One Fat Witch scratches the itch Two Fat Witches are bad for the britches... Chelsea Market was one of the very first places* I decided had to be visited in New York when pootling online for interesting distractions before the travels. That it was indoors in an old industrial building, open every day and had such a wide range of eating and ogling options sounded very promising indeed. And they have a place called the Fat Witch Bakery . Witch Which only sells brownies. Squee! When I made it over to the mark

We got three small brownies: citrus had a great flavour, and Macha one had a full matcha flavour which I loved (considering some bakeries have just a hint of macha flavour). Unfortunately, their texture was not fudge or brownie-ish. It is more like a dense cakey texture. I wasn't much fan of a ginger one even though I usually love ginger flavour. Great place to visit and explore, but don't hold your expectations high up there.
I ordered a tin of assorted brownies from Fat Witch Bakery for my sister’s birthday, who is a self-proclaimed brownie connoisseur, and it was perfect!
The ordering process was a piece of cake. I placed my order online, and it was processed the same day. The brownies were shipped the next day and arrived via USPS Priority Mail within the same week. Super impressive!
The packaging was simply adorable! Fat Witch Bakery really knows how to charm with their branding. It's everywhere – from the shipping box to the tin, and even on each individually wrapped brownie. And the gift card? Just the cherry on top!
Each brownie was individually wrapped and labeled with its flavor, making it an exciting treasure hunt for the tastebuds. My sister couldn't stop raving about how fresh and fudgy each brownie was. Plus, the option to freeze them or pop them in the fridge for later was a big hit.
And the fun doesn't stop there. The tin, proudly boasting 'FAT WITCH' on the outside, is set to make a comeback as a quirky gift box for one of her friends.
While I've never set foot in the store, this online experience has made me a fan. I'm definitely coming back for more, and I'd recommend Fat Witch Bakery in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a delightful and unique gift for their brownie-loving friends.
Not super welcoming or friendly. The caramel witch brownie was pretty good, though.
Simple and to the point, they even had samples. They are smooth but with a nice thickness in the bite and the edges have crunch, perfect texture. Sweeter than their competitor for the best brownie in town (mah ze dahr) which is a matter of preference. The texture here wins.
There are also many kinds, I didn't notice the difference between salty and regular, but the berry one adds sourness that upgrades it even more if you like that genre.
I come here all the time! Amazing brownies with a wide selection of flavors.(matcha, vanilla, white chocolate, caramel, etc) I recommend getting the brownie mix, because you can easily make a lot at home warm and fresh. Better than most brownie mixes at grocery stores
Being from out of state, it was tricky to find. But boy the brownies were worth it! I tried the Raspberry and Turtle brownies and they we’re both equally good. The edges were the perfect amount of crisp and the inside was so moist. Freshly baked that day! Definitely worth the calories!
Great brownie. Lots of great looking baked goodies. Simple and attractive decor. Visited there recently and was surprised to see just how empty the Market was on a late Wednesday afternoon. I mean the Market was a ghost town except for a small line at Los Tacos No. 1. Spoke with the staff there who told me just how bad its been with the pandemic. I would hope as pandemic stabilizes and the warm weather emerges, business for all small business like this one will pick up.
A great snack-ish dessert as you’re exiting the Chelsea Market.
When we planned to visit the Chelsea Market, my girlfriend was recommended to check out this brownie shop and it didn’t disappoint. A lot of the shops in Chelsea Market tend to be quite pricey, but thankfully Fat Witch were on the lower side when it came to prices around $5-6 for a moderate sized brownie.
We grabbed the Blonde Witch and a regular chocolate brownie. The blonde witch was a perfect subtle flavouring that wasn’t too over-bearingly sweet which my girlfriend really liked. The chocolate was your classic chocolate brownie, not much to write home about. One thing I didn’t like, was that I was expecting…more. I really wanted this to be a gobsmackingly good brownie that would be incredibly soft but rather it was somewhat dry. Might just be the time of day we purchased ours.
Overall, if you’re looking for a nice little dessert to fill you sweet tooth or to keep the kids happy, look towards Fat Witch Bakery in the Chelsea Market.
They truly melt in your mouth!!
Super fresh, amazing rich taste, and such a lovely little place. They have a ton of selections to chose from, and honestly I’m sure they’re all great!
I chose the “Blonde Witch” and “Double Chocolate Witch” and both were fantastic! :)
This place is located inside the chelsea market on 8th st. They havw a tons of variety and brownie flavors. Even found a matcha brownie!
I have know this place since 2007 till now the best brownie i have ever had, i think they have 10 flavors, i only wish if they would deliver out of the states.
My favorite brownie in New York.
Their brownies are freshly made and delicious.
Friendly and helpful staff! Love this place.
Great brownies in town. I only come here after five so that I can get 50% off brownies for all.
Great brownies - the Fat Witch Babies are just the right size to get your brownie fix with minimal guilt. Cute packaging. Take a dozen to the next party as a host/hostess gift.
