We went for a quick dinner down the road by our apartment this evening, and The Mermaid Inn delivered an amazing experience for us! The atmosphere was great with nice music. They were busy but not noisy. The candles on the table created a warm and calm feeling. The oyster and clams were great! My husband loved the salmon and hush puppies. He said the salmon entree was unbelievably delicious with the salmon resting on top of a bed of vegetables: sweet potatoes, mushroom, greens, and so on. The service was great! We will be back to try more dishes!

Impeccable service and the food was great! Happy hour menu was pretty good - we tried the mini fish tacos, mini clam chowder and calamari. Would definitely recommend the fish tacos and clam chowder. Calamari was alright, nothing to shout about. We also got the brussel sprouts which was seasoned perfectly, not too sweet. Only found a small sprinkling of lobster in our lobster Mac & cheese. That said, it tasted pretty good, not too cheesy nor heavy. Complementary mini chocolate pudding to end the meal. Overall, really good ambiance and value. Highly recommended to reserve. If there’s no available spots online, you could still head down to try to get a table because the place is pretty huge.

Loved the Mermaid Inn. They have such a great menu- so much to choose from and their prices are pretty reasonable. We couldn’t even decide what to get so we got a lot of small things. The service and staff were incredible as well! The best was the free mini chocolate pudding dessert at the end. I could’ve eaten 100 of them. Will definitely be back.

A nice day for brunch at the Mermaid Inn. When in New York City I prefer to eat inside rather than on the street. Place was clean and not to crowded. We had our cocktails and started with a fresh oysters, clams and tuna. Moved to a lobster roll, shrimp po' boy and burger for all to share. Waitress was attentive and friendly.

Had dinner during weekday at The Mermaid Inn. We tried lobster mac and cheese, fish tacos, crab cake and old bay fries. Everything was delicious and we got complimentary chocolate pudding from the Chef which was the cherry on the cake. We had a table outdoors in June and the service was very good. Will be back again!

We came on Sunday with a large group for happy hour which was a great experience. Make sure to get there early as there will be a line before they open at 5. Got there around 4:45 and we were fine to get a table for 7 + a stroller. They are very kid friendly. The food happy hour is great. $1 oysters were tasty and a steal. The shrimp and avocado sliders are delicious. The tacos were fun. My friends enjoyed the drinks. Definitely a fun Sunday spot. Dinner comes with a little cup of chocolate pudding for a taste of something sweet after.

always a good spot for happy hour oysters and drinks. indoor seating is always packed even prepandemic. service is good despite how busy they are with indoor and outdoor seating. wait staff are super nice. even got complimentary dessert before we left to another place for dinner. will definitely return when in the area.

Got the "Nearly Famous" Lobster Roll and the Brioche Caramel French Toast. The Lobster Roll is one of the best I've had in NYC. Not too much Mayo, seasoning was perfect and fries were delicious and hot. The French toast was meh, but was my fault to order French toast. Will be back for the lobster roll!

Canceled dinner reservation at my favorite oyster bar when my coworker suggested this gem. BEST DECISION EVER. One of the best oyster happy hours I have been to. First the atmosphere is very romantic, dimly lit and cute decor. Perfect for date night! Great service by all patrons. $1 oysters and clams for happy hour (5-7pm) . There’s only one type of oyster on happy hour but they were great so no complaints! The happy hour menu also included choices of fried oysters, calamari, seafood sliders, and a wide selection of drinks (cocktails, beers, wines) among other things. The quality of all the food was superb from the seafood to the steak. Presentation was great and EVERYTHING was delectable. I went yesterday and am already planning to go back this coming week. Keep it up!

A friend recommended this place and I was skeptical because it was in the upper west side. Very glad I was adventurous because the happy hour drinks and food were delicious! From the fresh raw oysters , salmon tatare to the lobster roll and gouda mac and cheese. Service was great too.

I had heard so much about this place from almost everyone I encounter on the UWS. I finally made the time today and it was worth it. One of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. Def recommend the mac and cheese and the pork chop also.

Our dining experience at The Mermaid Inn was amazing. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and it had a really lovely vibe. The service was very welcoming and our waiter, Michael, was very friendly and attentive. The seafood was AMAZING! Fantastic selection of oysters and super delicious, perfectly seasoned entrees. There is not a single thing we would have changed about our experience here and we highly recommend it. The Mermaid Inn is now our favourite restaurant in New York, simply superb! 💕

Charming place, the food and drinks are tasty, great service. Happy Hour 4.30-6.30pm has some great offerings: oysters and salmon tartare we're fresh and delicious. Fish tacos were tiny but done well. However, fried calamari were quite a disappointment - there was so much breaded-fried texture around them that you didn't taste the calamari at all.

We came here for brunch. The blueberry maze was really good. I ordered the Shakshuka which was also very good. Overall the service was great. They had lamp heaters at every table, but it was pretty chilly (the weather was freezing tho).

Great service, despite the AC not working. Everything was delicious. Oysters, ceviche, salmon entrée, hush puppies, all great. Nice plating. Cool decor/vibe. A bit understaffed but didn't affect our table service.

Got their “almost famous” lobster roll, and it definitely came looking like it deserved to be famous. It was bursting with lobster and was accompanied by a mountain of old bay fries. It was delicious. Only “complaint” would be that the bun could be cut a bit more (the pocket was shallow, which made it a bit more difficult to eat).

A must go happy hour place if you love oysters, clams, and raw bar in general. Also the glass wine portions are great.

My husband and I both work in hospitality and have appreciated Mermaid's quality and consistency for over 10 years now. Our visit on a weekday in pandemic-February was no different! Our server Nicole was attentive and knowledgable and all of the support staff were friendly and observant. We especially enjoyed the Blood Orange Hospitality and Mr. Percy cocktails, as well as the Yellowtail Ceviche. We look forward to returning soon!
