Good food and service
I would recommend The Harold to anyone looking for good, US style food at a reasonable price. The servers were both efficient and friendly they always found a moment to chat.
Our Doorman recommended this Herald Square icon and he was so right! Food was prepared using organic or locally sourced products. The menu was creative and extensive yet moderately priced (entrees about $16). Located near several subway stops and the “world’s largest department store” (Macy’s), this is a true treat!

Visited The Harold for breakfast and had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Service was good and the place is a medium+ stylish - it looks in fact an american bistro. Regarding the food, two eggs poached to perfection. The salmon packed quite a smoked punch, borderline overwhelming, but did not come in a generous portion. The hollandaise was creamy but flat (no acidity); the english muffin tops were not crispy enough, so rendered the whole thing a bit textureless. It came with rosemary oven-roasted potatoes on the side, which were quite pleasant actually. Overall ok eggs Benedict but not spectacular.
Had breakfast here on one of the days we were visiting NYC. The venue is fitted out quite nicely, the service is quite good, the food is quite good but the coffee can do with some real improvement - the barista seems not to have much of a clue of what a latte or a cappuccino is meant to be. If you excuse the coffee everything else is pretty great and definitely worth revisiting.
I was skeptical about coming into this restaurant but upon entering the warm atmosphere, very homey and cozy which calmed me. Our waitress named Rossy made me and my crew feel better! She was very attentive and respectful and made sure we were taken care of. Will definitely come back again. As I was leaving I met the manager who was an enthusiastic individual. Great service!!
We were able to walk-in during their lunchtime happy hour, great value drinks and tasty small plates. Friendly service. We ordered a selection of small plates, would definitely recommend visiting here while in NYC. Great views of the City too.
Tried this place for the first time during holidays. A very nice place for breakfast. They had limited but delicious food options. The staff was friendly and the place offers some nice views.
Made a reservation for 1:00pm. My wife's cousin and her family were visiting us and we met them in the city for brunch. We googled restaurants near Penn Station. This was one of the restaurants that popped up. Liked the reviews we read and decided to try it. We were greeted by a hostess who seated us immediately. The restaurant was busy. People were eating and conversing but not too loud that we couldn't hear each other. There were 5 of us. Waiter was polite, friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 steak sandwiches, buttermilk pancakes with side of overeasy eggs and 2 fish and chips platters. My wife ordered a latte which she enjoyed. The food was delicious as well. The bill was about $27 per person before tax and tip. We decided to stay for a little while longer to catch up and we weren't rushed out. I would definitely recommend this place.
One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in NYC. You can tell the food was handled with care and love. Super delicious. French toast are a must!!! You can eat them without syrup, Yes! They are that good!!! 😋 the steak and eggs was soft garlic flavored delicious.
Great breakfast! Came 2 days in a row :) Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place and food is pretty good! I had the avocado toast which was amazing and the Eggs Benedict yummy 🤤 I highly recommend this place :)
Found this place close to my hotel. Food was good as was the coffee and tea. Did not have a reservation but we were seated quickly. Waiter upstairs was backed up so no check ins for coffee refills. Had to ask for bill as we waited a bit when we were done. Overall good spot with nice view from 2nd floor windows.
Went there with a friend for early supper. Loved the atmosphere. The restaurant was full, but we got the table very quickly. Staff is very friendly. They have seating outside as well, if you want to enjoy the view. Flight of Dip was delicious. Fish and Chips was tasty.
My go-to bar (when alone) and dinner table (with company) in Midtown Manhattan for many years now... Food, drinks, staff, ambience, location all good! And may I say that the only reason I venture deeper into Koreatown for other options is when I can't get a seat at The Harold's.
Food was very good. Staff was adequate. Not overly attentive, but we were served in an timely manner. Ate here twice for the view and great breakfast.
