Five starts for the service, four for the food, and three for the drinks. Stopped by after a broadway show starving. The food came out super quick, the server was great. The side car cocktail was probably the worst I’ve had, very sour. The atmosphere is cool, old-timey New York.
While we had to eat and run because we were catching a show, my salad with chicken was generously proportioned, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is dark, old school and lively. The din of conversation throughout the restaurant adds a NYC Theater District kind of energy that you can't replicate easily. We will definitely be back for a more fulsome and relaxed meal in the near future!
Joe Allen's has been one of my favorite spots in New York City for decades. The food is consistently good, the staff is very attentive and fun. And the atmosphere is fantastic. The place really caters to the theater crowd.
Always one of my favorite spots pre theater if I can find a seat at the bar.
The bartenders are always friendly, even when busy, the food is always well prepared and the people watching is spectacular. Plus, I often end up in very interesting conversations with others at the bar.
This evening I left a show early so there was no problem finding a seat at the bar, but still great service and a very yummy burger.
Love the food and atmosphere! Recommended from an older diner of a local restaurant, Juniors, once he showed me a pic of the Banana Cream pie I was interested, stopped by for lunch, had the burger that he recommended, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, the beef was the best quality, fries were good , banana cream pie was worth waiting for , service was ok, although I could have used another drink during the meal , I really wanted to come back for dinner but didn’t have time , hope to in the future, thank you !
This iconic restaurant is around for a reason. The food was very good but the service was phenomenal. Both Lily and Aycan were great. They took care of us every step of the way. We never felt rushed and we always felt like part of the family. The Manager, Kevin, really knows how to train the staff. We will be back again.
We had a wonderful pre-theater dinner here, sitting at the bar which was the best seat in the house! The food was delicious. Ordered the roasted stuffed quail as well as the burger. Great flavor and presentation; friendly staff. Very strong drinks too!
Will definitely come back here again.
Lovely place, service was fantastic (our server was amazing!) and the atmosphere post show was great. They checked before our reservation whether we were coming after a show, which I thought was a nice touch. My only niggle was lack of choice for myself on the menu. OH chose steak but I just wanted something light as it was nearly 10pm so ended up with a salad...which was OK but pricy for what it was. Small bites would have been appreciated.
Favorite restaurant of the weekend! Great atmosphere with a Broadway feel. Fantastic food and excellent service. Highly recommend the guacamole appetizer. Recommend reservations. This dining experience may change the way I review food. 6 stars out of 5!
We stopped in here after a show because everything else was closed on a Sunday night. This has a casual pub feeling with a cool broadway vibe. The service was friendly and very helpful with good recommendations. The drinks were well done and the presentation was thoughtful. The guacamole has a different spin on it but still had a good flavor. The steak and fries were good too. Over all it was a nice experience and had an affordable price point too.
We stopped by before a Broadway show and I everything was so good and perfect, the food, the service and the place! Five starts for everything!
Research led us to make this our first night late stop for Dinner on a 3 night visit to NYC
It for things off to a brilliant start
A Warm welcome, a friendly crowd inside created a buzzing atmosphere and the food was top notch - served quickly and quality was very good.
Look forward to visiting again next year with more of the family.- thanks
Bob was our server and not only is he knowledgeable but he's hilarious! He kept us laughing and was incredibly efficient-but also so warm & friendly! This place is "the place" for industry talent but it's also just a cozy and cool place! Definitely make reservations!
My friends recommended me Joe Allen that it is a place I must visit. I had the pan roasted sole with mashed potato and cesar salad. It was amazing! I highly recommend Joe Allen. It is a perfect place to have a dinner before or after a broadway show. Oh and the service is great too!
Fun to visit an iconic spot for a post-theater supper. Warm and inviting, superb service. Pappardelle with bolognese and monk fish with a caper& white wine sauce were perfectly prepared. Joe Allen’s is like a warm blanket on a cold, rainy night.
Classic Broadway spot. We enjoyed lunch here. The steak frites was fantastic. Had a nice glass of wine and then sat outside for a bit after dinner to enjoy an a coffee and watch the people stroll by on their way to Times Square.
