It's hard to find Deep Southern Comfort Food that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg and that is actually decent enough to eat. Spoonfed NYC has some of the best comfort food I've ever tasted and they are reasonably priced relative to a lot of "comfort" places around the city. Plus they have an amazing event space and the owner is always involved with the day in and day out activities. Amazing food and ambiance and highly recommend!
I don’t know which was better...the food or the staff! Skyler, our Server/Mixologist and the Chef/Owner, Randy Witherspoon, were absolutely amazing and so genuine.
We went to Spoonfed for a brunch birthday celebration in honor of my son’s 16th birthday and left with our stomachs full of homemade catfish, okra, fried chicken and let’s not forget the prized Three Cookie Banana Pudding dessert!
The staff doted on us from start to finish...Randy even came to our table and told a couple of inspirational stories about how the restaurant came to fruition and growing up on his family farm...he was so friendly...sending us off personally, even walking us out after our meal into the crisp fall afternoon.
What a refreshingly down-home experience!!! I live in Boston but the next time I am visiting New York I will definitely make a beeline straight for spoonfed!
We stopped in for a quick bite before seeing a show, and didn’t want to leave! The staff welcomed us with open arms, literally. They learned our names, chatted about what kind of food and drink we liked, and made excellent recommendations. The owner even came out and (at our invitation) sat down to chat with us for awhile. If you’ve never heard the story of how the Broadway community made this restaurant a reality, make sure you ask!
The food was amazing, but honestly, it’s the feeling of being with family that really made this place remarkable. I can’t recommend Spoonfed highly enough.
Amazing atmosphere, great service, friendly down to earth. The best collard greens I've ever had, the hush puppies perfection. Great southern food. The hubby and I could not have been happier.
Randy Weatherspoon is a beautiful soul who shows how hospitality is done. I love the ambiance, decor and fresh herbs growing on the steps of the entrance. The food is amazing, a must try is the fried okra the best I ever ate! A must for locals and visitors who like a southern flare. Brunch on the weekends and open mike music at night! A 5 Star all the way!😜Leo the Bartender is a handsome mixologist with a twist and a smile💕
What a fabulous experience! We were planning our next visit before the food was even served. And, the food did not disappoint! Shrimp and grits were my personal favorite. Thank you Spoonfed for treating us like family!
Great meal. Lovely music. Kind, attentive service. Amazing owner Randy with a welcoming staff! Go if and when you can!

Love this place. Warm welcoming beautiful place with excellent food!!! Save room for dessert -I will keep going back !! Check it out !
AMAZING restaurant. Nicest owners, great service, and really delicious, flavorful food. The best Mac and Cheese I have literally ever tasted, and the ribs are incredible. Also try the corn bread pesto pizza thingy! I'm going to be a regular.
Divine intervention - found by accident! Skylar asked all our names and remembered them while serving our meal! The fried okra, biscuits and gravy, country firied steak were all amazing. The live music was the icing on the cake.
We visited Spoonfed for the first time this Sunday and it was amazing! The owners and staff are so welcoming and they already feel like family. This is one of the best restaurants in New York City! Everyone who comes and sees a Broadway show needs to come eat here!
My husband and I stumbled on Spoonfed in a hunger-induced stupor. We ended up cancelling our evening plans because we were having so much fun and were enjoying our ridiculously good meal! The service was top notch. Thanks Schyler! (hope I spelled that correctly!) We got to sit and chat with Randy, the owner. And even joined Harold the piano player for some Christmas caroling :0)
We started with the mac & alotta cheese as an app. TO DIE FOR! I had the ribs and my husband had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf. Both were incredible as was the molasses soaked corn bread. I'm surprised we were able to walk out of there without a crane. We've been talking about our experience all day and plan on bringing people back with us when we return!
What a gem! The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered from the brunch pre-fixe menu. The fried okra was so crispy and tasty...not too oily. The chicken from the chicken and waffles was amazing- crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The berry syrup was very unique and worked with the savory flavor profile. One half of the waffle was a little bit too crispy for my liking, had a hard time cutting in. We ordered a side biscuit which was out of this world....would return solely for that biscuit!
Service was amazing- very homey feeling, greeted on arrival, very attentive...real southern hospitality. Would definitely go back!
Waitress forgot our order (the amazing biscuit!) and charged a drink incorrectly but when notified promptly rectified.
It was practically empty when we got there! Kind of unfortunate because it's a great place to eat.
The server was so nice! She even introduced herself to us one by one and although I don't think she memorized our names right, she was very hospitable. Shout out to Schuyler for the excellent service.
You can either have a prefix brunch or order a la carte. The brunch costs $27 and included a complimentary drink, an appetizer, choice of salad, an entree, and either coffee or tea. Their a la carte menu are just their entrees.
Would definitely go back!
EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HERE. I was looking for a nice brunch spot to take my family while we were all in town for a wedding, and I found this place. I live in the south, and this food was a wonderful twist on southern food. Completely incredible food that blew all of us away, and mimosa’s that were mostly champagne. Worth every penny. Not to mention that we met Randy— the owner— who told us the history and took time to talk to us about our lives. He really cared. Our server, Abi, asked us our names at the beginning of our meal and he did NOT forget them and he didn’t get them wrong. This was one of the most incredible places I have been in NYC and I will definitely be sure to make a visit every time I’m in town.
OMG! Fabulous food, fabulous staff and fabulous atmosphere. First of all, when I read the menu, my mouth was watering-DEEP FRIED MEATLOAF! Two of my favorite things fried and meatloaf🤤. When we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by the warm decor and the friendly faces of the staff and co-owner. They gave us such a great feeling, showing gratitude for us choosing their restaurant. He made us feel at home and assist the staff to make everyone in the restaurant feel like they were the only ones there. We received our food quickly after placing the order, and as we ate, we couldn't help but rant and rave about the cuisine. To our surprise, the chef came over to our table to thank us for the "praise" that the staff informed him we were giving him. We was nice, humble and extremely appreciative of our compliments! I had a fabulous time and look forward to a return visit.
We were welcomed and seated by the owner Randy whom, by the time we left felt like family. Upon being seated we were given the apples with the vinaigrette which I thought was different but it was a perfect balance between sweet and sour. Our fried okra was great, and the pork chops alone are worth another 2 hour drive. I asked Randy if the greens had a more vinegary flavor or sugary and he said they are the perfect balance of both and he was absolutely correct. I could eat them every day of the week. My husband had the fried catfish. I've never liked catfish but Spoonfed NYC may have changed my mind. The whole meal from beginning to end was excellent! I can't forget our server Skylar, she was fast, friendly and made us feel at home. Spoonfed NYC is southern hospitality in the city!
Southern comfort food with fried chicken, biscuits, ribs, and cornbread. They are lighter on the bbq sauce and the flavors. The baked chicken wings are amazing. Also the corn bread has real corn in it. Pork sausage gravy with the broccoli mash potato. They also have live music!
A great spot to grab a drink or a meal after a matinee or before a show. It is calmly understated. A piano player, singing while you dine, at least on the Monday night I visited. The Theatre Row on 51st. An actor's spot! Genuine folks. Friendly and pleasant atmosphere and amazing staff. Looking forward to my next visit!
Food and service just amazing!
We got there at 10 pm and there was just one table still eating. The bartender let us in and we were served without rushing and in a very friendly way.
We ordered chicken and mac'n'cheese and we were not disappointed at all! The waitress who served us did a great job in guiding us through the menu and let us eating despite the late time. On Sunday they close at 11 pm.
It was the best food I had in New York, ill come back!

Fried Okra was bomb. Great entertainment and excellent staff! Shoutout to Gregory and Skyler they have just the right energy that's needed in that business. Keep it up!
This is a good restaurant with a very generous staff. We only tried one dish this time around but we were pleased. This place is definitely worth your time.
Such a hidden gem off the broadway scene. Went to a matinee show and stumbled around looking for anything that wasn't a chain. Tasty, southern home cooked flair. Space is beautiful too.
Delicious southern good, southern hospitality, live music, wonderful staff. I felt right at home. Try it!
Was going to give this 5 stars but the Piano player on a Friday Night was too self indulgent..! The Food is extremely good !. The chef greeted the patrons. Great place for after work .
