Just ate here last night with my husband and one word sums up the experience - PHENOMENAL. The decor is very rustic and cool. I'm not fond of communal tables but I have to say our seating arrangement really wasn't bad, there was another couple at our table but they were on the far end and I barely heard them or realized they were there. The food was excellent - we got the burrata, fritters and calamari for appetizers and then the duck and the tagliatelle with truffles for our mains. Everything was very flavorful and delicious without being too heavy. I felt satisfied but not disgustingly full. We also got the panacotta for dessert which was also amazing. Aside from the food, the service was impeccable! Candice was our server and she was so friendly and attentive. She helped us pick between appetizers and entrees (which was hard because so many things looked amazing!) and was really helpful at making sure we had a great dining experience. The sommelier was also fantastic (I feel bad I forgot her name!) - she picked an amazing bottle of white for us as well as a glass of red for my husband for his main. Our dining experience was so enjoyable and we are definitely planning to come back. We've eaten at a lot of top restaurants in NYC and I have to say that this is the best Italian we've ever had in NYC. If you want fresh ingredients, amazing Italian food and top notch service then you must go to Il Buco! It is worth every penny!

The venue was perfect for the happy occasion. So intimate for our family to gather and catch up. The service was the best ever. The wait staff knew their stuff. No matter what we asked them, they had the answer....from an informative wine explanation of origin to a simple request for sweetener for the coffee. The food was impressive. Tried several things for the first time. Freshest food I've ever eaten. We had a wonderful time thanks to Il Buco's attention to detail. Thank you.

Outstanding. I had a marvelous time and would highly recommend . I started with a delicious , fresh bread basket with virgin olive oil , my entree was roast chicken with pomegranate. I will most certainly be coming back and bringing more business to Il Buco.

We had a variety of dishes. Most were outstanding, not one disappointed. The #1 for me was the Umbrian "Porchetta" Panino -slow-roasted farm heritage pork with wild fennel pollen and rosemary on ciabatta. Wow. 5/5.

We usually don't go out for Italian food (rather cook our own family recipes at home) but we attended my cousin's 65th birthday celebration in the wine cellar last year. What an extraordinary experience! The food and wine were exceptional. The polenta, grilled octopus and kale were the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is unique. I remarked to my son that the wine cellar reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe's "A cask of Amontillado." Next day, I was looking at Il Buco's website which talks about that very wine cellar as being Poe's inspiration for the story! Even if not true, you get the feeling. I usually don't recommend Italian restaurants to those who ask, but this one is a can't miss New York experience.

My wife and I've eaten here numerous times. This is one of if not my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. The polenta with poached egg and iberico pork shoulder with brocolini were as good as it gets. The bread is also homemade and the atmosphere feels like you are eating in an Italian countryside kitchen. Bravo, Il Buco, see you soon.

I recently dined at IL Buco, a wonderful Italian restaurant that truly impressed me. The authenticity of the cuisine was undeniable, with each dish radiating the essence of homemade goodness. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation of the dishes was impeccable. Nestled in a cozy and tranquil setting, IL Buco offered a delightful ambiance that added to the overall experience. The extensive wine list showcased their dedication to providing a complete culinary journey, and the servers were not only friendly but also knowledgeable. Our server's expertise in wine pairings enhanced our meal, creating a perfect harmony of flavors. One standout dish was the tagliatelle with truffles, a true masterpiece of flavors and freshness. The rich aroma and taste of truffles combined with the impeccable texture of the tagliatelle left a lasting impression. Equally exceptional was the ceviche, crafted with precision and featuring impeccable cuts of seafood that were flawlessly prepared. The buratta was fresh and delicious as well. The sweet cherries were a great accompaniment to the cheese. Even the simplest details were executed perfectly, as seen in the freshly baked bread served with high-quality olive oil. The restaurant's charm extended beyond the culinary offerings; it boasted a great ambiance situated on a quiet street and maintained impeccable cleanliness. The service at IL Buco was second to none, characterized by its excellence and efficiency. Whether it's a romantic date or a gathering with friends, the restaurant's inviting vibe makes it suitable for various occasions. While the prices may align with typical New York standards, the quality of the experience undoubtedly justifies the cost. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend IL Buco to anyone seeking an authentic Italian dining experience that excels in every aspect. The combination of fresh, flavorful dishes, a welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service make it a standout choice among New York's dining scene.

We had a very nice lunch recently. The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with focus on Italy. The quality of the food was good as well the size of the portions. Why not 5 stars. I had caprese salad (tomato salad). The tomatoes were delicious and tasty. However I don’t understand why the chef put such a cheap sour vinegar over the tomatoes. Just put a bit of olive oil extra virgin and some herbs. The time between the first and second course was quite long. Specially as the complexity of the dishes is not high. My favorite was the tagliatelle with summer truffle and the spaghetti del mare.

Beautiful environment! It is a little bit dark inside, but very Italy countryside vibe. The pasta is the best. Just want to heads up, the bread is $7 for table.

There’s a reason this restaurant in ranked top 10 Italian restaurants in NYC. Food was amazing. We had the octopus, torchio pasta, skirt steak and the chocolate cake. Loved the service. The server helped us with a great recommendation for a bottle of wine. They were so nice that they even stayed open a little later so we could finish our cocktails before we left and didn’t feel rushed. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back.

The dining table near the wine cellar at il Buco offers a memorable dining experience in an intimate setting. The food was excellent even though the Pollo was hard to consume due to the bones. The Tagliatelle and the Anguria e Fragole were my favorites. The presentation and plating of all the dishes was truly fantastic, and the service was exceptional.

I made a reservation based on Elizabeth Olsen's recommendation. Surprisingly their bread combined with the olive oil was the highlight of the meal for me personally. Very cool atmosphere and the dessert was very delicious.

Excellent food and service. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed! We did manage to sit at the bar, regardless. We had the salmon and a yellow gazpacho; both plates were delicious. I did not particularly like the lentils in combination with the salmon? But the fish was cooked to perfection! I also had a glass of white wine. Would definitely recommend this place!

The restaurant was very crowded but the service was good and fast. Our waitress was good and helpful, she didn’t disappear but she wasn’t bothering every 5 minutes. I think even a sommelier helped us, but not sure if she was a regular waitress. The wine list is huge so I think it’s necessary to have one here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and romantic. Dinner with candles, although if your table is next to the kitchen forget about it because there is a lot of movement. My problem was that the food was underwhelming. Nothing was delicious, I think the chocolate cake was the best but that’s it. The portions were fine but the price vs the flavor was no worth it.

Lovely vibe, decent food, fair prices and wonderful service. The Lasagnette was salty but lovely. Can also recommend the pear tart. Our server was so polite and welcoming (and he had a great moustache!) and the sommelier Sarah was fantastic too. The lighting, decor and ambience were perfect, not too stuffy not too crazy - Definitely worth a visit!

Had the most enjoyable late lunch at Il Buco! It’s been on my restaurant list for ages but getting a reso can be hard and walk ins can be even tougher. We got the olive oil tasting option which did not disappoint, each one was so distinctive. Also, the bread is homemade in house and you receive a few different types which are all scrumptious! We ordered the pastas, and they were each very tasty! The seafood pasta was more typical of the three. The truffle pasta was so amazing — like nothing we have had before! And the duck ragu was delicious, too! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Ambiance is a bit louder (good for groups or family). They make delicious mocktails, too! Not on menu but if you ask they will do.

The brunch La Matança del Pork was nothing short of feast to the eyes and stomach, and, food coma to the brain…🥰 Dining at il buco and the alimentaire next street always zaps me back to Italy without having to pay airfare. These are competent comfort food that I can’t quit. The bread basket with olive oil & balsamic- I can live by these bread alone! I love thé fried eggs nestling on top of a bed of crispy sliver fish. I am a fan of pigs but not sure about pork sausages galore like these. However they are very fresh and interesting! We also ordered tagliatelle and gambas. My complaint about the gambas is that they are too pale. I prefer they come with some char. Love love the staff and the quality of service. I think the owner just happen to put all the nicest people together. 😊

Simple and elegant Italian cooking in rustic interiors and relaxed ambiance. Upscale but not pretentious. Seasonal, fresh ingredients are celebrated and not over dressed. Make sure to get their burrata dish and finish the meal with their signature panna cotta with balsamic vinegar sauce.
