Came here with a friend for brunch. It was busy so we were welcome to sit at the bar which we didn’t mind. The food here is delicious! The french toast was so savory and soft like a loaf of a cloud. The burger was precisely cooked to my liking and the cheese was just what it need.
We were visiting NY and our friends who live there chose Cafe d'Alsace. They are foodies and known the owners who have several French and Italian restaurants in Manhattan. They told us this was the old Elaine's spot. They were formally down the block. Very nice charming décor. We sat in a smaller rear dining room. Great and attentive service.
Started with one of my favorite appetizers, Grilled Mediterranean Octopus , fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, aged balsamic, and fresh basil oil, very good. My wife ordered on of her favorite's Soupe à l'Oignon Gratinée ,aged Gruyère and country bread , also very good.
For mains, my wife tried the Burger D'Alsace ,brioche, aioli, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and French fries with a choice of: Cheddar, Gruyère, Roquefort, or Alsatian Munster. super burger. I opted for another one of favorites which you really see on a menu, Choucroute Garnie ,assorted sausages, artisan smoked bacon, Riesling-braised sauerkraut, juniper berries, steamed potatoes, and Dijon mustard. Great dish bursting loads of flavor.
For dessert, we opted for the Hazelnut Chocolate Tart ,fleur de sel, crème Anglaise, and caramel ice cream, very good. Also the Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and a hot chocolate sauce, not your tradtional Profiteroles.
Great choice for a very enjoyable and memorable dinner.
Great neighborhood staple with amazing food and attentive service, the salmon tartare was absolutely delicious, the hangar steak was cooked to order however seems didn't get the best cut, to wrap it up cremè brûlée was point on.
Neighborhood staple, and the new location hasn't changed the classic menu. We enjoyed the restaurant week menu for dinner, salmon tartare was good, the chicken and the lavender creme bruele were excellent. Service was attentive. The WARM BREAD was SO yummy, we asked for more. Yum. Plenty of seating inside and outside, we prefer inside yo avoid the noisy 2nd Ave traffic. Make a rezzy, enjoy!
We chose Cafe d'Alsace for our daughters baby shower brunch and it was the perfect choice! We were a small party of 8 people and the staff at the restaurant could not have been nicer or more helpful. They helped us set up and decorate with the balloons and streamers that we brought. The brunch menu was varied and everyone LOVED their dishes. Best of all of how lovely the service was.. the manager and the waiter and all the staff there were a delight! Thank you Cafe d'Alsace for making our celebration a great success!!
A neighborhood find. Carlos, our waiter was fantastic! It was our pre Christmas brunch with my oldest friend. We had a cozy corner table, attentive service and tasty food. The eggs Benedict with the perfect sauce, my Belgian waffle cooked to perfection, but sitting on cool sauce and cold maple syrup. The flavors were on point and a Mimosa was a great addition. I would go back to this Upper East Side find !
Three of us went on a Sunday at noon and were seated without a wait. The outdoor service was the best I’ve had anywhere since the beginning of covid. Their outdoor seating area is extensive and they did a great job handling all the extra tables. Food came quick. Order was correct. Everything was delicious. A true neighborhood gem!
Update: the team behind the bar runs a very professional ship. I went on a Sunday, sat at the bar and gave some feedback abt the meal. They really took care of me and were very kind. Thank you!
Went with a friend during the restaurant week back in January. Chose this place because of the French cuisine and saw there was salmon tartar on the prix-fixed menu. Love all the food we ordered, staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. Will definitely coming back.
The food here is amazing, and the people are very friendly. The ambience is really nice. Highly recommended.
Absolutely loved having brunch here!
Great ambiance and beautiful colorful decor. We had the burger D’Alsace, Brie cheese sandwich, shakshuka, and omelette Lorraine - and everything was great! Fries are lovely, perfectly warm and slightly crisp.
We came here after an event at Columbia University. We found parking on the street and had a reservation for brunch. The food was excellent and the service was prompt and efficient. As other reviewers have noted, it's not cheap, but like anything else, you get what you pay for. Highly recommended and would definitely return again.
Superb - best pork chop I have ever had, fabulous cocktails, the service is quite impressive & dishes come out fast for a restaurant of this quality.
The design features are also fantastic - beautiful, interesting, and comfortable! Too many NYC eating spots cheat on seating space and comfort in order to squeeze in a few more tables than reasonably fit or to deter leisurely dining. Here, you can expect adequate room and sturdy, comfortable seating.
Cafe d'Alsace is a legit classy spot - the price mark is a bit steep, but it's worth what you get in return.
Been here on two separate occasions - once for brunch (eggs benedict in picture ~$35 with tip) and once for dinner (the other 3 pictures with a bottle of wine which was ~$120 per person including tip). I have to admit that I like their breakfast menu more than their dinner menu (the mussel dish was a little too heavy for me), but both times the service was exceptional and the ambiance was great.
We loved our lunch here. Decided to forgo the burger/club and got the charcuterie plate and the steak tartar. Amazing flavors, very filling lunch. Lovely, calm waitress and staff. Food came out timely. Yes, it was not cheap but man was it worth it! Fueled us to head into our next 10,000 steps exploring Central Park.
We went here for brunch. The decor is very lovely, making us feel we were back in France. Immediately upon arrival, our waiter came up to us and took our order and brought our drinks without having to wait three months the food was great with the crêpe soufflé stealing the show. The waffle was prepared correctly. The eggs were done exactly as ordered. They do have a full bar and the drinks did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place for brunch if you like, French inspired cuisine in a nice atmosphere.
The food looked really good, fresh and tasted delicious. We had the onion soup which I highly recommend, the mussels that were so tasty, it does involve using your hands tho. The salmon dish which was very fresh tasting and well seasoned. We also tried the desserts, all of them 🐷 and they were all good, my personal favorite was the blueberry dessert. Service was very attentive and friendly. The only thing that I was not a huge fan of was the gin drink because it had way too many peppercorns and it was kinda hard to drink it, the flavor was good and it was strong so that's a plus.
Great food and beautiful ambiance. The outdoor patio they have around the corner is very beautiful. Coffee was good. They have an amazing brunch menu which was around the time I went on a Sunday. My favorite was the omelet maison it was very delicious. Also the eggs Benedict was good too. I would definitely return for dinner next time since the brunch was pretty good. Cheers!
