I finally popped in to check out what all the rant and raving was about. The quality of the food was good, the service could be better, but ambience was great. I met so many great people on my first visit of many. Not only is this the go to neighborhood spot, but people from all parts of the city and the tri-state area seem to be regulars that enjoy everything this wonderful restaurant has to offer. I knew I was at the right place when I met a couple who have been coming here all the way from New Jersey for 30+ years once a week. You’ll find patrons from all walks of life that come together with one thing in common, enjoying what the extensive menu and great service has to offer. The menu is definitely on the pricier side, so get ready to spend a pretty penny.
Some of the best Chinese food I've had. Ordered the spring rolls, shrimp fried rice and seafood Cantonese chow mein. Everything was great. It's a cash only establishment.
There is a location next door as well where you will be seated in the basement. We were told by the waiter that the basement location served more American style food, while the upstairs location was Cantonese style and had more seafood options.
Highly recommend adding it to your list if you're in Manhattan.
Excellent, easy 5 stars. The inside was full when we arrived but they were able to seat us outside immediately. The fried dumplings were some of the best I've had. The broccoli beef and pineapple chicken were both fantastic as well. The meat was all so tender I didn't have to fight with it or pick around anything weird. Service was attentive but not overbearing. If you're looking for good Chinese in the city this is the place to go.
Just finished an awesome dinner. Saturday November 18th 2023. Authentic Chineserestaurant downstairs. We ordered wonton
soup, egg rolls, fried dumplings, steak kew and sweet and sour chicken. Everything was
excellent. Very good service and the timing of the food was on point. Highly recommend HUGE menu.. very polite staff. Very clean too,
especially considering the high activity of customers very fair priced. The food portions
are quite large You will not go home hungry.
Always delicious, one of the best Chinese restaurants in New York. Yes you will wait if you go on the weekend or during a holiday but it’s worth the wait. I try something new every time and I am never disappointed. The pork fried rice, chow fun and fried dumplings are my favorite dishes here. I always leave here happy and with leftovers, they never disappoint.
It was a good experience. Food was delicious and service was fast. Prices are cheaper than most places in NYC. Sweat and sour chicken, chicken noodle and sasimi chicken was delicious. Also pork fried dumplings and vegetable fried rice was good. Only problem you cannot split the prices with others, its really hard and they only accept cash
Cash only! It was worth waiting in the long line to eat here. We went downstairs to a small but really cool dining room where the walls were covered with autographed dollar bills. I was here for lunch with friends. The food is fantastic! The portions are big and delicious. Service was quick and excellent. We sat in the very booth which was used in the filming of the last episode of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Would I eat here again? That's a no-brainer! The next time I'm in NYC, i will make sure to stop by again! Keep up the great work!
Americanized Chinese food at it’s finest.
There are zero frills. This is a restaurant run by a mainly middle aged male staff. They are efficient boarder if on gruff in how they handle their customers.
The spicy cabbage and pork soup may be one of the best soups I have ever had.
Get there before 7 to easily be sat. The line was 20 parties deep by 8.
Make sure you go to Wo Hop (run out of the basement) not Wo Hop Next Door.
A New York classic. If you are in town, this is the place to go for classic Chinese-American food since 1938, and still a classic. Worth the wait!!! Second year in a row we've gone here for my son's December birthday as a tradition. The fried dumplings are the best...EVER; do not walk away from Wo Hop without ordering at least 2 orders of their fried dumplings (and a t-shirt). The fried dumplings are at the top of my death row menu. Everything else you order on the menu is delicious--you never make a bad decision ordering off this menu; it's delicious, affordable, and the portions are generous. No rush, friendly service once you get a seat; you let them know when you're ready to leave. The Chinese beer is refreshingly ice cold too.
This place is a nice Chinese restaurant! 🇨🇳 Wo Hop serves an endless selection of delicious 🤤 Chinese ⛩️ dishes 🍽️ - definitely try the Vegetables 🥬 Soup! 🍲 Service is quick ⏲️ and staff 👨🍳 is super friendly! They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating 🪑 but you can also get you order to-go. 🥡 I wish I came here more often!
