I often talk about Morandi, one of my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Although not truly Italian like Pastis or Balthazar are not truly French but still a good rendition by Keith McNally. Scene-y, crowded and loud. We recently where in Chelsea and decided to go there for an early dinner. I started the meal with a house cocktail: the Lo Scosseze, made with Adberg whisky, Drambouie liquor and black walnut. Apparently not that many people order it because they do not like peaty whisky. Well, on my side I loved it.
Went for a Sunday brunch. Nice outdoor seating area and the food is not bad at all. Will have to try for a lunch or diner to be able to judge it better
A very solid, if typically NY pricey, Italian restaurant. Busy, bustling place with nice outdoor space in good weather. Not large menu, but nice variety nonetheless. Good service. Serving until midnight, so great option apres-theater/music.
Choosing a good place to eat in New York City (NYC) can be a daunting task for any tourist, but thankfully, we had a New Yorker’s recommendation for Morandi, West Village, NYC. After a quick cab ride, we crowded into this trendy Italian restaurant. Like so many NYC restaurants, Morandi is a small, neighborhood eatery.
Interesting and tasty dishes. Salads and pasta dishes are really delicious. The portions are not huge, which is great. In addition to European sized dishes, they bring out organic bread and olive oil, which are fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great place for a quick brunch.
Can't wait to go back an try more items. Great food
Meatballs , figs/cheese app, hand rolled pasta with olive oil -lemon-parm, egg noodle pasta with Balognese sauce was awesome !!!!
Authentic.. Delicious. Edgy. Very, very great food. I like the authenticity of the food with a little american twist. Definitely try this place out!
Great People Watching. Loved the atmosphere, loud but lively. Gwen Paltrow was there while we dined. The antipasto is wonderful.
Great Italian. I don't normally try a lot of new school cuisine. I just found myself hungry, and being nearby thought the Sunday Lasagne was worth a try. It was hearty with delicate noodles, a very sophisticated sauce and meats. It had a perfect amount of bechamel, and great balance of flavor. One of the best that I have ever had, and the staff was as outgoing as I expected.
We came here based on a friend'srecommendation. I loved the loud and up beat atmosphere. Our food selections were a mix of classics with some combinations I never would have thought of( eggplant, goat cheese and watermelon). I loved everything about this experience. We decided to walk home tofeel less guilty.
Morandi. By far one of my favorite places in the city to have delicious italian food on a Sunday afternoon. It is one of the only restaurants in the city where you feel like you could truly be dining in Europe. Their specials are always so good and their cocktails are superb. Great date place or place to take visiting friends
Okay, but not brillant, expected from the creators of Balthzar
6 out of 10 awful accoustics couldn't hear each other indifferent staff,a little disapointing food over cooked over priced and over hyped
Defintely order the Aperol Collins - aperol, grand marnier, fresh lemonade, soda
Morandi is the Italian jewel in his restaurant crown, located at the bustling intersection of 7th Ave, Perry St, and Waverly Place. Supremely atmoshperic, Morandi ushers you to Tuscany with rustic wood furniture, exposed brick, jugs of red wine lining the
Authentic and fun vibe! Incredible service and beautiful restaurant. Nice wine list and the food was delicious, although the cacio Pepe wasn’t the best I’ve ever had.. The tables were a bit small / tight. It’s a very loud room which makes it fun. Fantastic bartenders and drinks. The hostesses were also extremely accommodating and they have coat check.
What a beautiful restaurant. The service was phenomenal. Never had to wait for the waiter. He was on the ball and very friendly. (Ismael). The dinner was delicious. All made by scratch from the noodles to the homemade sauces. But the ambience was very relaxing. Dimmed lights to the wines adorning the walls. I can't say enough about the staff. Everyone was courteous and very helpful. From the hostess to the cook. Can't say enough about this place. You just have to give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I promise. My go to from now on when I'm in the city. Definitely recommend. 10/10 👍🏼
Everything about this restaurant is a 10/10. Service, atmosphere and food quality. You can tell that the chef and all staff are happy. The food so tasty without having to use so many ingredients. Antonio and everyone were over the top nice, always checking in on you making sure you were satisfied and drinks always filled. The restaurant was so pretty, cozy and bustling!!
My wife and I were visiting from Toronto and we had dinner at Morandi for her birthday in September.
The vibe and location of this restaurant are truly inspiring and exciting. You can really sense how lively NY is at night. Not only that, staff were super attentive and friendly.
You have to try the fried artichoke and the Mafalde alla Pugliese!
I definitely hope I can go back someday.
Very nice food and the place has a very unique and cozy environment. Very nice and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The waiters and waitresses are very polite and helpful. Shout out to Antonio, very friendly and nice person. Thank you for the food and the service!
I recently dined at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with their drink selection. I highly recommend trying their espresso martini ☕️🍸– it's a delightful concoction that combines the richness of espresso with a touch of indulgence. While the lasagna didn't quite live up to my personal expectations, my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. For me, it was just okay. However, the real standout was the Burrata e pomodirini dish; the taste of the burrata was exceptional and truly made the meal memorable. If you're a fan of burrata, this is a must-try!🤩
Very cozy space nicely decorated for the holidays. Food portions were on the small side and flavors just okay.
It was my first time at Morandi and I will definitely be back again. The food was great and the staff were excellent. The Filetto di salmone in padella con cardoncelli e topinambur is so delicious. Also, I loved the broccoli di rapa.
Antonio was AMAZING! Very knowledgeable of the wines and pasta and encouraged the party to try new things - which we did! We had a great conversation with him all night. Highly, highly recommend him as your server!
Had a great dinner. Table was ready for large party on arrival. They sat us right away even though we arrived at different times. Asked then to prepare our dishes family style and they were accommodating. Porterhouse and risotto both outstanding. Look forward to going back.
