Reviews Maria Pia

I decided to go to Maria Pia not because it was recommend or heard reviews about it, the simple reason was that it was a very cold night and Maria Pia was the closest restaurant to my hotel that could possibly serve cheesecake. It sits right on West 51st street with 8th ave. First thing I asked as I walked in was, do you have cheesecake and the gentleman said, "Oh we most certainly do" and thats all I needed to hear. Remember, I was there only for the cheesecake but ended up ordering a carpaccio as an appetizer and I am so glad I did. It was absolutely delicious and exactly the carpaccio I had been looking for for quite a while. The restaurant also serves small slices of bread free of charge and they are are very tasty. I ordered the rigattoni alla buttera and to be honest it wasn’t the best pasta I have ever tried. The sausage in the pasta was very tasty but to me there was just soomething missing. Now, the best part of this entire trip to Maria Pia was, of course, the cheesecake. The main reason why I was there and let me tell you, I was not disappoointed ! Hands down the best cheesecake I have ever had in my entire life! The top was crusty but the bottom was soft and very tasty. The server mentioned that the cheesecake is made daily with fresh ricotta and the taste surely reflects that! The service was beyond anything I expected, I felt like royalty here! I didnt have to ask for anything. My water was constantly being refilled, empty plates wouldn't sit on the table for more than two seconds and the fact that they have someone near by with a bowl of parmesan cheese just waiting for someone to need some more cheese sprinkled on their pasta, is beyond amazing! I love cheese! I would definitely be going back to Maria Pia next time I am in manhattan.

A very nice experience. We had dinner here & loved the experience. The pasta was delicious, service excellent and the decor was very nice. It's a great location too, very easy to find. Pricing was decent also. Would definitely recommend.

No need to go to Carmine's when you have gems like Maria Pia in the heart of Broadway for a good dinner before a play. A whole in wall that delights the Italian foodie. Prefixe lunch and dinner options. I recommend the skirt steak, linguini & clams, sea bass and panna cotta for dessert. Proof is literally in the food. Just ask zagat rating.

I thought this place was very nice. Not that crowded when we got there on a Saturday before a play, but the food was all my family could talk about for the rest of the weekend. Spaghetti and meatballs was delicious!

Absolutely delicious! Fresh pasta. Nothing from a box. I'd put this up against any of the big boys and this joint would probably beat them. I'd eat here every day if I could.

I was disappointed when the bread came..bread was outdated..luckily the carbonara and Tiramisu were great! Service is just ok, but no smile...

Great service, though a bit rushed. Been here before and had to come back. Will go back again as the food is good and reasonably priced.

Stopped in without a reservation for a pre-theater dinner on a Saturday night at 6, and we were seated quickly and served promptly. Food was good, service a bit spotty but they were very busy. Lots of tourists in the place, fun people watching. Prices are reasonable and with a restaurant.com certificate, it was a bargain. Be aware that the gratuities are already added in when you get the bill. We will definitely be back!

Food was delicious!! Had a reservation before a show but we got there early and were able to be seated and eat early! Our waiter Alejandro was fantastic, a long with the other staff. They were professional and were very attentive!! We liked it so much we went back the next night!! Will definitely go back on every trip to the city!!

The pasta was thick and perfectly cooked. Skirt steak was actually tender, pink on the inside, and well seasoned. Decent wine selection. Gave me no issues with my gift certificate. Enjoyed the atmosphere. No real complaints.

One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The service was second to none. Our waiter, attentive and on point. The crab cake app was the best I have ever had with this amazing crispy crust. I will be back often. The atmosphere reminds you of the old days!!

Was at Maria Pia today for a memorial lunch after a funeral service. A lovely experience. The waitstaff was extremely attentive. Water glasses and wine glasses were never low, constantly filled. Food selection was excellent and the food was quite good. On a chilly day it was nice and warm inside. Nice atmosphere, great staff, good food. What more could you ask for?

Superb, traditional Italian food. Outstanding risotto—and I’m northern Italian!— and pasta dishes. Monumental-sized profiterole for dessert. My picky granddaughter even loved it. Need I say more? Service was friendly and efficient.
