A charming eatery nestled near 5th Avenue, boasting delightful cuisine and a friendly, hospitable staff. Our experience with both the burger and the steak was superb; each dish was not only delicious but also bursting with rich flavors. However, do take note that the menu has undergone changes from what was previously displayed on Google; the steak portion has been reduced to 6 oz, albeit at a higher price than previously listed.

What an absolutely incredible place this is! We found it by accident, just checking the reviews and it did not steer us wrong! Around 3 pm they had specials , when you can get a soup , main meal and a dessert for a special offer and we did try that. Onion 🧅 soup 🥣 with a huge, delicious 🤤 cheese 🧀 on it was delicious 😋 and the main meal as well! Desserts 🍮 were amazing 🤩 just see the pictures , it’s fingerling good! Ambience is nice and cozy ! And service was friendly and fast

A colleague and I visited la Bonne Soupe in New York City recently for dinner. Coming from Montreal, I am very familiar with French or French-based restaurants and la Grande Boucherie did not disappoint. We started by sharing a serving or escargots, or snails, served in the French fashion, broiled in butter, parsley and garlic and served with French bread for dipping. The escargots were delicate in texture and very delicious, coupled with the French bread, it was a great treat. As a main dish, my colleague ordered the fresh fish filet of the day which was served with a lovely light lemony sauce. I ordered the burger, which had a generously sized patty and included brie cheese and French fries as a side. The fries were incredibly, thin, hot and crunchy and a real delight. For French cuisine, this restaurant has a very competent kitchen and is also very reasonably priced compared to other New York establishments. I would definitely recommend la Bonne Soupe without reservation (a reservation does help to avoid the line up outside the restaurant).

The food was amazing and very good for the price you pay in that aspect I have to give it a 9/10. But the Service took the cake, we got the best waiter which offered us the specials of the day and in general made our lunch an amazing lunch to remember. would definitely recommend if looking for a French restaurant in NYC. Would definitely recommend 💯.

5 star for the price and quality! There are too many overcharged French restaurants that’s not worth it. I did not expect much of this place but it surprised me. Will definitely come back again. Escargot beyond expectation. boeuf bourguignon was the only one I hesitate to recommend; it’s a little salty.

Great French food… the onion soup is a must! We tried a quiche with caramel onions. Also we ordered a croquette with Gruyère and eggs. For desert we got a Nutella crepe with banana. We really love it and was enough food for two!

I fell across this cute place. It was very snug, with limited tables that remained full for the hour and a half I was there. The service was great and the good was incredibly tasty. Definitely recommend the French onion soup! So glad I found it!

This is in my neighborhood and a go-to favorite. Get the fries- they always come out perfect. The staff is always kind and attentive, the food is French comfort food workout being fussy. Cocktails are incentive and switched out periodically. Tables downstairs are a little too close together; upstairs have less atmosphere but more space. The upstairs balconies have uncomfortable seating but are my favorite little outdoor oasis.

Excellent spot for French cuisine in New York City, especially the French Onion Soup, which I consider to be one of the best I had. The French onion soup is very popular and a must try for anyone who comes here. Did the prix fixe for $50, which the options that are included with the deal are abundant. The prices are reasonable. Be advised, this restaurant is very popular for lunch, so get a reservation to guarantee that you will get a table. Happy that I did make a reservation in advance. In the warm weather, they open up the outdoor area on the second floor and I was seated inside, by the entrance to the outdoor area which the nice breeze made the meal better. Food was excellent, without a doubt.

This is a long-time Midtown staple for a nice French meal and good soups .. sort of a cold weather type meal. Our latest visit finds it still has good service, soups and salads are tasty but it has lost some of its French charm and the prices are out of control. We each had a bowl of lentil soup (not huge low bowls with lots of bread as before) that was very tasty with a few baguette morsels to dip. Husband had a Croque Madame, an open face grilled dish of ham, Gruyere cheese on bread topped with fried egg, comes with fresh side salad. I had a delicious and photo-worthy grilled leek plate topped with fried onion crisps. Add 2 glasses of water and it was $91 before a tip! Will confirm that food was fresh and well made, place was full of tourists, service was impeccable but prices won't let me give it a 5.

The restaurant is super popular. Before the opening, ppl already lined up outside. We are glad we made reservations ahead. Food is delicious no doubt, we finished everything without hesitation. Definitely coming back when the weather is warmer, then we can enjoy their balcony sitting.

Nice, quiet, small French place. Was really craving boeuf bourguignon. So I had to try . Kinda wish the portion had a little more meat but was still very tasty. Salad was nice and light . Not salty at all . Really hit the spot . Will definitely be back.

This was my own and my parents’ go-to restaurant for pre theater dining for years. There used to be a well-priced pre-theater menu that was a value but that seems to be gone. Pre-theater menu aside, this restaurant used to be a value proposition but no longer. Mixed review of my first return visit in many years. Service was quite warm and welcoming. We had a table on the second floor balcony on a warm and rainy October evening, that was lovely. The pea soup and bread at $14 was good. The burger, at $25, was mediocre. Quite small, too little meat and too much bun. The french fries were pretty tasty. My friend enjoyed the escargot. The French onion soup was okay but unexceptional. The wine list is overpriced generally. We ended up spending $84 for 2 carafes of so-so wines. For $42 each, I’d expect a larger carafe.

Delicious food and French desserts! We did the 3 course on their lunch menu for $32/person. I’d highly recommend to go with this course menu. Very valuable and high quality of food, also, there’s various options for their pre-set menu! We shared a pitcher of white wine. They’re famous for the French onion soup. To be fair, very generous portion of food and you can easily kill 2-3 hours for brunch/lunch! Great service, casual atmosphere and medium noise level. Perfect for any occasion of dinning! We would come back to try other items on the menu!

This is definitely some if the best French cuisine I've had in the US! The food at La Bonne Soupe is delicious. My favorite was the croque madame, which is absolutely phenomenal. Great customer service as well. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Had really good outdoor seating as well. There is a covered patio in front of the restaurant itself that was very nice. This patio is also dog-friendly, as we were able to eat there with our pup that we brought with us. Will definitely be back once we come to the area again!
