I've eaten at Babbo numerous times lately, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of the food. The service has generally been great also, but one of the nights I went recently, there was a let down in the service department. Our table was 22 minutes late being ready, and there's not really any great place to stand and wait, so we basically were left awkwardly standing by the host stand for 22 minutes while people are constantly bumping into you, trying to get by. All of us worked early the next morning, so it was frustrating taking so much extra time to get seated and be able to order. The food also took a very long time to arrive that night. Food wise, the 100 layer lasagna, the duck, the short rib, the mushroom pasta dish, the beef carpaccio, and the chocolate tart were some of my favourites. The Osso bucco was fine, but nothing spectacular. I'm still giving 5 stars because service has been impeccable all other nights, and the food is really great.
I was excited to try this restaurant! When I arrived I parked on the street. I walked into a beautiful restaurant. I was sat and Garson was my waiter and he was excellent! I started with an amazing red wine. I then had two pastas, the ravioli and the tonnarelli. My favorite was the tonnarelli! Everything was just so so good!
Thank you Babbo for an amazing dining experience. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the conversations with our 🍷 sommelier and he made a wonderful suggestion of a 2012 Pruneto!

IMPECCABLE service! The food was good, but more over their service blew me away! I have never seen a restaurant whose staff are in sync with each other. When one person picks up a plate, another one comes right over to clean the table.
Typical very good dining experience at this Greenwich Village institution. Food and drinks were delicious, and the service was both friendly and the right amount of attentive. We sat upstairs this time which is a great space for a date night or special occasion. But you can't go wrong with grabbing a bite at the bar or main floor after work either.
My partner and I came here for an anniversary and enjoyed ourselves! This is a classic, upscale Italian restaurant in NYC. The servers are very attentive and helpful. The lamb chops were spectacular, and the pastas we got were good, but nothing super special. The pear ravioli is unique, but the portion size is truly tiny, with just a few small raviolis. Overall, a good experience though!
The mozzarella appetizer and garganelli truffle pasta were both amazing dishes. Also tried the prosciutto and the linguine dishes as well as the lemon tart and tiramisu for dessert, which were good as well. The Babbo spritz was a generous serving and refreshing.
Have to say this is the best fine dining experience had in NYC this time. Very friendly staff, recipient, hostess, waiter and manager. They all helped me nicely. Also the tasting menu here is not bad, my impressions are the squid ink pasta with crab meat and the black truffle pasta. The dessert are relatively ok compare to the food. Although the wine recommended by the waiter is really my type.

Been here multiple times and always enjoy the quality service and food. Pasta tasting menu is a great experience but can be over filling so there is also benefit to getting individual dishes. Black spaghetti is best I’ve ever had. The Garganelli is best with the extra truffle. 100 layer Lasagna is not too filling and really delicious. Olive oil cake is my favorite in the city with a subtle hint of rosemary to pair with salty olive oil bite.
We ate dinner here on a Friday evening, and found the bar area to be buzzy and the restaurant already very busy just before 7pm. We were given a banquette seat adjacent to the big staircase in the middle of the restaurant, which allowed both of us to face the dining and bar areas. We started with cocktails, of which we found the menu to be an interesting mix of options that focused on Italian liqueurs and spirits as the primary ingredients. We shared the seared Wagyu carpaccio and rabbit and white truffle pesto fettuccine to start, and then went with the veal osso bucco and nightly stuffed chicken special to round out the meal. We found all of the food to be very good, and arrived in portions larger than we expected which provided for good value. We enjoyed several of the cocktails and glasses of wine from the list throughout the meal, and our server was excellent as well. We were pleasantly surprised with the vibe, expecting it to be a bit more stuffy and buttoned-up, which wasn't the case at all. Definitely a great place for a nice meal in a pleasant space.
Fabulous meal; huge portions of delicious pasta and meat, lovely staff and elegant and refined setting. Excellent and extensive wine list with reasonably priced options from all regions.
Real Tasty!!! WE HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE BUT WE WILL COME AGAIN FOR SURE. ALL OF THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. I HAD THE LAMB'S TONGUE SALAD AND IT WAS SUPER GOOD. NEVER HAD IT BEFORE BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. SHE HAD THE CLAMS WITH "CRAZY TOMATO SAUCE" WHICH WAS REALLY WONDERFUL. BE SURE TO GET EXTRA BREAD TO SOAK UP THE SAUCE. IT IS THAT GOOD. FOR DINNER SHE HAD THE 100 LAYER LASANGA. VERY GOOD, VERY THIN AND HAD SOME WODERFUL CHAR ON IT. I HAD THE PASTA WITH TOMOATOS WHICH I LOVED. VERY GOOD FLAVOR AND LIGHT. WE HAD 3 DESSERTS AND LOVED THEM ALL. SEMI FREDO WITH PISTACHIO IS TO DIE FOR, SHE LOVED THE PANNA COTTA WITH STRAWBERRIES AND THE CHOCOLATE GELATO WITH CARMEL AND HAZELNUT SAUCE WAS REALLY GREAT. HENRY WAS A GREAT SERVER. HE KNEW THE MENU AND DID A SUPER JOB. SO WAS THE BREAD LADY BUT I DID NOT GET HER NAME. THEY ALL RECOMMENDED ITEMS AND WORKED AS A WELL OILED TEAM. THIS PLACE HAS EARNED ITS MICHLIEN STAR AND WE WILL BE BACK MANY TIMES AGAIN. Check out all of our reviews. This isn't one of those slap-dash, ride-the-wave-of-popularity places. No. Babbo has soul. You walk in and you're hit with this ambiance - a mix of the West Village's artsy heart with the authenticity of a tucked-away Italian osteria.
The menu? It reads like a love letter to Italy, penned with a punk rock edge. Start with the lamb's tongue vinaigrette - tender, succulent, and a middle finger to anyone who says, "I don't eat that." Then dive headfirst into one of the pasta dishes. Each bite tells you a story - of Italian grandmothers, of sun-kissed vineyards, of raucous family dinners.
Now, let's talk booze. The wine list here? It’s like a perfectly curated playlist for a road trip through the Italian countryside. Whether you’re in for a robust Barolo or a flirty, crisp white, it’s all here.
Service - professional with a hint of that old-school NYC edge. No fluff, no fakery, just genuine, straight-up attention to what matters: the experience.
What I love about Babbo is its defiance. It stands against the cookie-cutter eateries that dot the city. It’s a place that says, “Come in, eat, drink, let's have a damn good time, but on our terms.”
So, if you're looking for an Italian trip in the heart of NYC, where the noise of the city blends perfectly with the clinking of wine glasses, make your way to Babbo. It’s unapologetically bold, and damn, it’s a good ride.
Probably the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I had the pasta tasting menu and it was amazing. The pastas was carefully proportioned so that I didn’t get full too quickly. The service was also spectacular, one of the waiters (I forgot his name) was really energetic and such a fun guy. Disclosed below are pictures of 6/7 of the dishes we had, including the 3 different deserts our table had. The highlight of the night would probably be the pappardelle bolognese, but the other dishes were also very good. When I get the chance I will make sure to come back again. Thank you Babbo for the memorable experience.
