My first visit in years, and the ambiance is more upscale than I remembered, but the food and service are even better! My friend had the Penne Bolognese and I ordered the Lasagne - both dishes were wonderful!
There's nothing particularly exciting/revolutionary about Luna Piena, but it's certainly consistent in terms of superb Italian fare. The lasagna in particular is superb - a must try! The service did seem a bit scattered, but on the other hand, I was there as part of a large group (several tables) on an already hectic Saturday evening. They also had live music, which was not overly loud and a nice, festive (pre-holiday touch). Definitely worth a visit!
In a city saturated with Italian restaurants, this establishment manages to stand out. That is due mostly to their fish dishes and desserts. Other dishes are average. Their wine selection is limited, but the few options available represent some of the best wines Italy has to offer.
The service staff is personable, attentive, knowledgeable, and adapts their speed based on the customers. Some want to be in-and-out and therefore it'll be fast. Others like to enjoy their meal slowly while conversing with their table mates and hence service will interrupt you less and let you be (they never rush you). I love that about this restaurant.
There is a wall waterfall towards the back. In such a loud city, that sound is pleasant to listen to while dining.
