The food was fantastic and the service was first rate. Had the mushroom ravioli was great and I highly recommend
Stumbled across this place while walking round Time Square - best thing we ever did! Even went back the next day it was that welcoming!
Big thanks to Al and Sean, who made us feel so welcome, and to little Jonny working the door - top, top gents.
Food amazing, staff amazing, and the Guinness is great. Met some fantastic people on our two visits to the pub, who made us brits feel so very welcome!
Thanks to all.
Delicious food and great atmosphere, but most importantly a great waitress! My husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon and our waitress paid for our drinks to congratulate us! Definitely the best place we've been to eat so far in NYC.
Second time going there in two different trips in NY, both time the staff was very friendly, the service was fast and the food was good. I would recommend it to anyone
The food, the staff, the atmosphere was excellent. Special thanks to the waiter who never let the water glasses get low. 😘
We have added Playwright to our must visit next year.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. Goat cheese salad was perfect and the sliders were so delicious , service perfect , air conditioning rocked. We own Shamrockland Car Service and and often drop people off in the area jand will be sure to recommend this place to everyone !
Great place, excellent food and drink , been going there every New Years for last 12 years . People are so friendly, love this place
Fantastic local NYC boozer, A good crack with Al the Manager and his bar staff along with little Jonny outside. The best chicken wings ever...
Well we loved it. Friendly staff lovely food. We went for lunch and tried to find it again in the evening but got lost in the rain. Last day in NY today so we're going back for our last lunch. Wait staff didn't force themselves on us, but when we were ready to order all we did was attract their attention and they came over. Great experience

Stopped by for lunch before a show, waiters were attentive and timely. Sat by the window and watched the outside go by. Food was good, I would return.
The food at any Playwright Tavern is always good and the service is decent. There are Irish pubs almost everywhere in the city, but we like this small chain.
Fish and Chips were pretty amazing. Great service and location.
Had the corned beef, dining partner had fish and chips. (See pictures) The corned beef lacked tenderness, but was perfectly lean. The fish and chips were fantastic: thick, crisp breading; excellent crispy coating, tender, moist interior. Attentive service, intimate, quiet ambience. Excellent.
Staff had Irish accents. The prime rib was good. The Baily's cheesecake was AMAZING.
Live music many tv's for events and the staff is attentive. Can get a little loud.
Feels slightly less touristy than the other options in this vicinity and the atmosphere is reasonably nice. Service is average, but the proscuitto pasta dish was delicious!
Came across this pub by walking down in New York exploring since this is my first time going to New York. I love the atmosphere and the life entertainment when a man was singing in the other room where people were drinking and having a good time. The food is very great the service was also great. I would definitely recommend this place when I come back to visit New York again
The prices are high, well by CA standards, but good pub food. My partner had one of the Fall specials, Cajun red snapper, and said it was exceptional. My Reuben was okay, nothing amazing, too much sauce, not enough sauerkraut and meat
Great place & staff were most welcoming because of the heat in the city we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we headed inside, lovely and cool, inside you see a typical long Irish bar with 4 tv screens, plenty of options of spirits and beers on tap. Waiter gave us some water whilst we pondered the menu, what we ordered was absolutely delicious and food came soon after we ordered it, once we had finished our meal, we asked for the bill, service was included, definitely be back.
As a Caesar salad fanatic, this one is in my top 5. I very much enjoyed the experience and time with my family!
Right off TimeSquare... Amazing multi-level Irish pub with good food, great atmosphere and friendly folks. They have an amazing Frank Sinatra impersonator who performs nightly on weekends...
Quick spot to grab a inexpensive drink and bite to eat near Times Square.
This is a great atmosphere pub feel. The staff welcomed our party of seven and quickly had a table. We actually had a choice of upstairs or outside. Good food choices. Drinks were good as well. Service was okay. Kept having to ask for things... Basics i.e. water, napkins, condiments, etc. Maybe just an off night for a busy place. We did have a couple of appetizers that arrived before our meal. Food was prepared quickly and served. We all enjoyed our different choices. I don't think you can go wrong depending on what you like. I would go there again when in NYC.
Food was good and super quick. Loved their Irish lager. Good place to grab a quick bite while in NYC.
Definitely a fun pub, drinks and food are good and there are sometimes tables available
Cold beer, great service. Shephards pie was wonderful
Love the PLAYWRIGHT! Every time we go to see a show at the iridium we always come here first for a few drinks. Great place to have
We dined here twice during our stay in NYC. The food and atmosphere are both brilliant, and it's in a fantastic location! Marsha is good fun and really looked after us!
We visited Playwright twice to have just drinks. The first time was about lunchtime, and the bartender was a very nice and friendly woman. The crew working seemed very fun and appeared to be having a good time at work. The next visit was around dinner time. The bartender, this time, was not a friendly man, and when we received the bill, in it, the tip had been added. We had no warning that the tip had been added , but there was a space to add more tip. Did not like that at all. When we went at lunchtime, the tip was not added to the total. Very sneaky bartender that night. Great place, though.
Came in for a quick drink and bite before catching a show. Service was top notch and the drinks and food both came very quickly! My martini was cold and salty like I like, and the potato skins were creamy and super flavorful. The place has a great vibe as well.
It is a nice place, that has a great location! It is located almost on the Times Square. They serve good pub food. I ordered Grilled Turkey Burger and it was good. The drinks were amazing. I had White Chocolate Martini. It was s tasty. The place by itself is pretty crowded, they have tables outside as well.
Great Irish bar close to Macy's Herald Square. Good food, good drinks, plus great service. Conor was a great waiter and great bar tender!
This is a really nice place A good place to meet up with friends family associates acquaintances. You can see quite a bit of the city as people go by to relax good drink the staff very friendly very helpful. We were out of towners and you can tell we were out of towners. The staff helpful on the menu we sat down for drinks we didn't eat but even so very nice hostess and a nice waitress as well funny she should start a comedian circuit for herself. The drinks were interesting from the crew I myself as you can see from the pictures have water with lemon. From the silent traveler to all of you have a great day and enjoy New York
Very good food and good service! I had their Oktoberfest special platter and my wife had the pasta paisano and both were very tasty. Our waitress only came by once after taking our order and that was to clear plates and get us the check, but to be fair, we were sitting outside. I would recommend stopping by and grabbing dinner at Playwright!
