Located in the East Village, this rustic and unassuming little restaurant was featured in the Food section of the New York Times. So, it was no surprise that it was a favourite with my local New Yorker friends.
Although it may not have looked it outside, Feast was spacious on the inside, with enough large tables and room to accommodate my group of seven.
Peeking at the menu, I discovered this was no regular brunch -- at $29, this was a feast, offering a choice of drink, a variety of four appetizers, and a main selection. For that price, I was sold!
The Beery Mary was a Bloody Mary and beer hybrid, and tasted just as you would expect it to taste. While it was refreshingly unique cocktail, it made me realise that messing with the sanctity of a Bloody Mary is a little bit sacrilegious. Sometimes, you’re better off sticking with the original.
Our appetizers comprised of four small sides: a shot of juice, yogurt parfait, bakery basket, and a canape. The pint-sized tastes and bites were perfect, and gave us an opportunity to sample a selection of items.
For my main, I opted for the croque madame - a grilled sandwich with prosciutto, pecorino, quail egg and mustard, served with a side of greens.
Liked: well-presented - the egg toasted into the bread and the generous amounts of prosciutto made me eager to bite into this.
Disliked: the sandwich, while tasty, was very salty ... too much prosciutto (is there such a thing?) perhaps.
Overall, while my grilled sandwich and Beery Mary may have fell a little short, it was still a very enjoyable brunch experience. The service was friendly and attentive, and Feast has a great vibe within its charming, intimate setting.
Feast is a bright, open air spot with communal seating. The themes here are clearly simplicity, wood and nature, with single light bulbs dangling from a wooden plank ceiling and simple wildflowers adorning the center of each table. Very clean and sharp looking design. Brunch is a set price at $24 a pop , which includes a drink, a trio of shareable appetizers, and entree. Beery Mary My advice, go crazy with the Beery Mary – a Bloody Mary with beer instead of vodka. Brunch Shares Brunch Shares Croissants, chocolate croissants, muffins, fresh squeezed juice, and a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola kicked off our meal. Everything was delicious, especially the parfait, but the croissants were my favorite here. Their buttery, flaky crust had a perfect crunch to them. L
Feast had a lovely $24 brunch deal – one adult beverage included. Not necessarily “cheap eats” but a good variety to choose from...
Went here for brunch. I love the atmosphere, the only exception was that our table was so close to another table that we felt like we were in their conversation. Service was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommend the candied bacon on the brunch menu, it's delicious! I had the lemon souffle pancake which was delicious and had no overwhelming flavors. Good brunch experience; reasonably priced.
Delicious food and quick service! Really loved the ambiance in this place and the decor was beautiful too! We got the prefix multiple course meal which comes me more than enough to eat!! Also ordered the beet/apple/kale juice which is SO good!! The only negative thing was that the waitress became hostile and made it obvious she wanted us to leave at the end. We were only there for an hour and had food/drinks the entire time so not sure why the attitude. Possibly was getting close to dinner time or something, but still, tarnished an otherwise great experience.
Excellent brunch on Sunday. Really enjoyed the shared appetizers of yogurt parfait, fresh juice, and assorted mini pastries before the main course. I chose the steak and eggs for my main, which, though not mentioned in the menu, also come with well-seasoned home fries and mixed greens with a lemony dressing. The steak was cooked perfectly medium. The egg was the most surprising part - poached with a great ruby yolk with a breaded and fried exterior. Service was exceptional.
Fantastic brunch option! Plenty of great choices and a drink included with starters. Includes classic brunch items with a twist. A nice place to start the day.
Great service and meals. One of us had the beet special, I believe - it's the photo that looks a bit like an eclair. A second had the risotto special - vegetarian and deliciously full-bodied.
I had the tagine with marinated cod off of the regular menu. It was perfectly cooked although I didn't really taste the browned butter - likely because of the two negroni-style drinks.
One cocktail was with a rum base and the other was based on two gin. It love negronis and it was a worthwhile side trip to experience these.
Service was attentive without being cloying. My two vegetarian friends were extremely pleased and so was this meat-eater.
I really liked Feast.
Had a Saturday brunch here with two other friends. Food was very tasty and portion generous. Not overpriced and definitely worth it. We finished everything that was served. Will return
Something for everybody on the menu with lots of veggie friendly options. They take reservations on OpenTable. Went here on a Tuesday day with some girl friends and enjoyed the food - especially the duck. Service was attentive and friendly.
Excellent eggs Benedict with duck Beijing on the side.
Having a Brunch restaurant myself I found it very amusing when somebody else arouses my uraniscus so cheerfully.
Great job guys.
Interesting and flavorful dishes in a cute little place, excellent cocktails and really nice staff and service. Great find.
Went there recently during NYC restaurant week. The food is amazing! You can taste the freshness of their seasonal ingredients in the innovative dishes! The ambience is rustic, comfortable and charming. Very friendly service. One of the best New American spots I have been recently. Plan to go back for brunch.
I came here with my friend for restaurant week and was amazed by such a delicious find for a bargain - scallop appetizer, catfish entree (NY strip steak for my friend everything else was identical), and pineapple carpaccio. The scallop dish was easily one of the most memorable appetizers I've ever had, definite must try. The NY strip was one of the better steaks I've had in a while and the catfish was simply delicious - altogether with 2 beers and 1 sour cider at 67 pp - this place is well worth it! I highly recommend this place and their 3 course prefix menu!
Absolutely loved this place. It is such a cute restaurant and the staff was wonderful. Brunch here is a must. For $28 you get one drink, one entree, assorted baked goods, yogurt parfait, and a juice shot. I left full without paying an arm and leg. The food was wonderful. The Beijing Benedict was a scallion pancake topped with a poached egg, hoisin hollandaise, and duck confit. Try it!
Update: came here for dinner as well. Everything was delicious. Service was amazing. Our server was Joyce, and she was absolutely wonderful, helpful and friendly. We came here for my friend's birthday and they made it a fantastic experience. Definitely come here!
Feast is such a fun and interesting place. It is both perfect for group gathering (they can serve a whole hog upon request) or a date night. They have great menu options that has a well balanced mix of eastern and western spices. Each dish was just really full of good surprises. Desserts were also really delicious - lavender panna cotta is a must try!The staff were friendly. I highly recommend this place!
I absolutely cannot stop recommending my friends to check out feast. Their dishes never fail to disappoint. The quality of the food is top notch and most of the food are made or derived organically! We ordered the steak and eggs, Beijing benedict brunch sets and an additional lemon soufflé to share. The brunch set came with drink options and we got the orange juice, which was hand squeezed. The steak and eggs came with a FRIED poach egg which had a very crispy interior and an extremely unique texture and taste. My personal favorite would have to be the lemon soufflé—baked to the perfect temperature, the soufflé is perfectly soft and fluffy, and the little bite of it melts when it gets in your mouth. I will most certainly be coming back again soon, and absolutely cannot wait to come back to this hidden local gem in town!
This place was amazing. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. A group of us came out here and we had an awesome experience. The atmosphere is also awesome. The quality and craft drinks definitely was the cherry on top. Excellent. Highly recommend.
A great option for a large group! We came with a group of 8 which you can make a reservation for (although a credit card is required to hold the reservation). There is a "feast" option -- hence the name -- where you get 7 dishes over 3 courses, a sampler's dream. But note that at least 2 people in your party have to order the feast. There were some interesting dishes: the yuca crusted fish had great texture and flavor, but the wagyu burger and fried chicken were popular options and received rave reviews.
LOVE this place. They have some of the best veggies dishes in the city. The kale ceased salad has the right amount of finely-grated Parmesan cheese, and a small amount of quinoa mixed in. My friend and I are absolutely obsessed with their spaghetti squash with house-made ricotta with edamame, basil and mint. It melts in your mouth it's so delicious.
The decor of Feast is rustic but chic, with a long wooden bar and tables, Edison bulbs suspended from branches or antique metal fixtures and other natural decorative items.
The service has always been on point and Margaret is an amazing bartender!
The drinks are awesome and the food is great as well. I had free drinks from this app called hooch more than once. These guys are very friendly. The restaurant is kinda small so it fills up fast. There might be a wait on weekends. But do check it out. Food and drinks are great.
