Stopped into this red before the theater. The food was delicious. Chicken Tikka masala was outstanding. It’s my go to dish whenever I eat Indian. This was outstanding. Had the rice pudding for dessert. Another winner.
Good food, so-so service. Went there with a friend at 7:45pm on the evening of Saturday, February 15, 2014.
As I stated in the "title" above, the food was excellent. The waitress? Oooh boy....
Let me start by saying that she was polite, which, being southern born and raised, I greatly appreciate. That being said, she was a VERY slow and confused young lady.
I had bought a Groupon using my smartphone. Although I'd mentioned this when making the reservation, I thought it prudent to have the Groupon displayed on my phone when she approached. She took it upon herself to reach down and tap the "Redeemed" button on MY phone. Probably not a very good idea to touch other people's stuff without asking or something. To make it almost comedic, and in keeping with her ditzy waiting "style", she came back later and asked for the Groupon as if she had't seen it. My friend and I had to convince that she had indeed seen it AND "redeemed" it herself!
Most everything asked of her (drink order, appetizers, entrees, etc) had to be repeated. And repeated. Even then, with three open tables in the entire restaurant (no big tables at all), EVERYTHING took a LONG LONG time to arrive. I saw her fix our complicated drink order (a diet coke, a Budweiser, and a glass of wine), then I saw it sit on a counter near the cash register for quite some time while she chatted with another employee. Same thing with everything we asked of her.
We ordered the "Garhwali Chicken Tikka" for an appetizer. She was quite confused as to what that was (that's precisely how it's listed on the menu). However, the dish itself was outstanding. Very nice flavor, and the quality of the chicken meat was some of the best I've ever had!
I had my go-to Indian dish, "Chicken Tikka Masala", as my entree. I ordered it "medium" spicy. It came with almost no spice at all, but the flavor of the dish was very, very good. The size of the serving was also quite good.
My friend ordered the "Lamb Korama". Again, the flavor and quality of his dish was wonderful. The quality of the meat there also seemed quite good/tender/fresh.
The garlic naan was tasty and fresh.
All in all, I would definitely go back to this place when craving great tasting Indian food. I would especially like to try the lunch buffet that I understand they have weekdays.
Being a New Yorker, we sometimes forget all that is available to us. It's when we get a chance to see the city through the eyes of a newcomer, you walk away with a different perspective. On a recent Saturday spent with a client, we decided to recap her ap
During our vacation trip from Canada, my family and I enjoyed dining at this restaurant for dinner.
The ambiance was superb, and our server displayed exceptional politeness and friendliness. Acting on our server's recommendations, we tried a couple of highly recommended dishes, and they exceeded our expectations.
Notably, the restaurant offers Halal food, a detail that wasn't explicitly mentioned but is worth highlighting. I suggest the restaurant management consider incorporating this Halal aspect into their marketing efforts. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Not for service or anti out or atmosphere because I’ve never been in person. But I get the delivery deal often. Would you get an appetizer entrée and bread for about $20 and it’s a great deal. Also I would recommend getting the butter chicken or chicken tikka masala they’re both awesomely creamy, and delicious.
Excellent Indian restaurant. You'll love everything you order but if they have the mango chutney shrimp special, order it.
Hands down the most tender shrimp I've ever had in my life, and I eat a ton of shrimp. Like you could cut through it with a spoon, falls apart like good brisket tender. My god.
Wowww the food is amazing, the service was great I felt like a family welcome. Thank you for your host I enjoyed the food was delicious
Our first time trying India food and we were sure how our experience at Bombay Grill House was going to be. We are truly AMAZED by the outstanding service and food provided. We can’t wait to come back and bring our family and friends. To the waitress who helped us from the beginning thank you to you for your lovely and most caring service — great choices of food you recommended. In the end they even provided us with complimentary dessert (my favorite). See you all soon again🤍🍽☺️
Everything was delicious, from the naan to the Tikka Masala. So flavorful and the perfect amount of spice. The wait staff all gave amazing service and made sure we always had our water refilled.
Just had the brunch special and it was terrific. I enjoyed the Lamb Palek (perfectly spiced lamb in spinach) which came with rice, naan and a glass of wine. Plenty of delicious food! Great deal in a relaxing, attractive room. Will definitely go back.
We had a great experience. Food was fantastic. My wife had the lamb curry and I had something with an onion base. It was super tasty and not too spicy. The server was very attentive. It was only about 13$ per person for a full meal! Highly recommended!
Food was authentic and excellent, and service was on point. Also very reasonably priced. It's not the largest space but I guess that's to be expected in the area. Overall a great find that I highly recommend if you find yourself in Hell's Kitchen or NYC in general.
Had an amazing dinner here. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive which made the food taste even better. I would go back in a heartbeat and can't wait to order the butter chicken wings again.
I had the most amazing meal here last night. We split 10 dishes between our party and each was uniquely delicious. Do not miss the dahi puri, shrimp appetizer, or the goat biryani. I am so excited to try out more dishes on my next visit!
I discovered this place in college with a friend of mine, and I always try to go back when in NYC. The food is delicious and authentic, the prices are reasonable, and the service and atmosphere is always so nice! It has that "hole-in-the-wall" type feel, and it is definitely not a "touristy" type spot. It is in a very accessible part of the city: far enough from the crowds in midtown, but close enough to several major attractions. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great Indian dinner in NYC!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place in the heart of the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant area on 9th avenue. The food was good. Yummy for sure. The service was friendly and very helpful! You have to check them out if you are craving Indian cuisine! I highly recommend this restaurant for sure.
This is a very nice authentic Indian food place! The service was exceptional, they were so sweet and caring, making sure we have everything we need. The food is great, a but spicier than my local Indian place, but we loved it!
Had some of the best Indian food I've had when we had dinner out with friends. The appetizers and entrees were so flavorful and more elevated than usual Indian dishes I've had before. Definitely recommend!
Photo is neighborhood on cross street to get feel of neighborhood. Forgot to get pic of restaurant. Had early dinner at 4:30. Not crowded, sweet waitress and definitely authentic. Had butter chicken and vegetable curry. Served w/3 dips and bowl of rice. The waitress thought we needed more rice and brought out a 2nd bowl. Two of us ate and had water for drinks. Bill was 47 and they do not automatically add in 18% tip like most restaurants in Manhattan. Highly recommend
Food was amazing. Great aesthetics, authentic Indian food with the taste. The taste reminds me of how food in India was. If you want to a real taste of desi, come here!
