the banana pudding here is a must try. hands down the best banana pudding in nyc (might be a hot take but i don’t think so!)
i thoroughly enjoyed all the other puddings here and the staff were super nice and understanding.
one thing i would skip out on are the cupcakes - they are on the sweeter side!
Amazing small local spot. Great cupcakes soft melt in your mouth style baking. Fantastic! You can tell there is a lot of history and hospitality in this location! coming back for sure !
We have been coming here for 18 years and have always loved their cupcakes. we stopped in this past weekend to get our favorites. Cupcakes were kind of dry and not as good as they have been in the past we obviously still enjoyed them, but we hope it’s just a fluke.
The pistachio cupcakes, here to die for even when they’re dry. We will be back.
One of my favorite cupcake shops. Got their regular sunshine cupcake. The base isn't as sweet as other cupcakes but the frosting didn't have much taste.
I ordered a custom cake from this bakery. The order was so easy to do, the people that I interacted with were so nice, and the cake was AMAZING. My friends all agreed it was the best cake they’ve tasted. It was also decorated PERFECTLY according to the picture I sent. Incredible pricing, too. I’ve told everyone that I’m coming back for any other cake I might need!
I needed a heart shaped birthday cake super last minute, and the owners kindly accommodated me less than two days in advance. The cake was super cute and delicious! I will definitely place future cake orders with them.
Stop the search you’ve found your dessert vendor! We are so happy we choose SSS for our wedding desserts. We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, and instead wanted to have a dessert table with an assortment of cupcakes, banana pudding, and flan. Deb was super helpful in planning our vision from start to finish to pick the right selection of desserts, flavors, and quantities while respecting our budget. We went to the bakery in LES for a tasting which helped confirm our selections. The vegan options were just as good as the regular flavors. Our wedding was in Brooklyn, and Deb helped secure the delivery details. The desserts were a hit on the day of the wedding, as our guests told us they had 5 servings of dessert because it was too good to stop!

First time trying this place and DEFINITELY wont be my last. This place is GAS. I got the banana pudding, chocolate chip pudding, vanilla cupcake, and strawberry cupcake w cream cheese. starting off w the banana pudding. EASILY comparable to Magnolia Bakery ( it might even b better lowkey).SO good and i love the big chunks of the vanilla wafer. The chocolate chip one was good too. For the cupcakes, both tasted like homemade cupcakes (gave me a good feeling inside like that type of feeling). the vanilla cake itself tasted sooo homemade and I loved it. the strawberry cupcake w cream cheese frosting was AMAZING. SO delicious (definitely would reccomend trying this cupcake) I meant to save myself leftovers but I literally ate everything in one sitting. I also really like the homemade feel on the look of the cupcakes. Prices are so much better than many other mediocre overpriced bakeries. Felt like I was eating cupcakes and pudding made w love 🥲Also I did delivery and everything came great and looked great also. Shout this bakery for making some dope as$ cupcakes and pudding

So I've been visiting this place for about 7 years. I don't always come by but when i DO, it's usually repeated visits until i literally have to cut myself off. This place is addictive and you can easily pack on the calories. Lol. This place is legit that good.
The first thing i recommend is PUDDINGS. Banana pudding has to be their top seller. Its delicious and creamy. The villa wafers are so goood in the pudding as well. I also recommend their chocolate chip pudding. Its my favorite. It tastes like caramel pudding with a bunch of crushed up chocolate chip cookies. Its REALLY good. They have multiple different flavors but i havent ventured off from the banana, chocolate chip and chocolate bon bon one.
They have bkft cakes like coffee cake, apple cake and pistachios. Its REALLY good. Thick, flavorful and goes well with coffee. I have tried ALL THREE.
They have so many different cupcakes. I personally am not a fan of frosting on cupcakes and this place doesnt layer it on too thick. Its just enough. The cake it always flavorful and spongey which i love. The pumpkin and chocolate red velvet cupcakes are my favorite.
This bakery also has hot coffee, hot tea and also serves both iced as well. They have a refrigerator with bottles of water and other beverages as well. I love the decor and set up here as well. Feels welcoming and homelike.
The owner is the sweetest and i really appreciate the staff here. They are always helpful and answer my millions of questions. Long story short, come HEREEEEEE! YOU won't regret it at all.
We tried strawberry trifle and Oreo cupcakes. Strawberry trifle is recommended, it is light and nice to eat. It is closer to Eton mess rather than a trifle. We didn’t like the cream of cupcakes, but the cake was very tasty.
Ah and coffee is a good deal, $1 for an au lait.
This place smells amazing! You walk in and your senses are punch by the delicious smell! They have tons of treats to choose from! I especially love the red velvet cake! This is in the heart of the LES. They have this location and the Essex market location. If you’re in the area, you must stop by and get a treat! Maybe they’ll make cookies too in the future. I highly recommend this place for cakes, cupcakes snd dessert!
The banana pudding here rivals Magnolia Bakery’s. That’s the treat I’ll keep coming back for. I also like that they have such a variety of pudding flavors for you to try that seem to be seasonal.
I did also try a cupcake while there. I found it to be very well executed: moist and not overly sweet. Good icing to cake ratio.
10.15.17 - GO FOR THE BANANA PUDDING! Pretty unreal and not overly sweet. We also got the okay gooey, which was very fragrant in almonds, but the frosting was a little too sweet for me.
Staff is amazingly nice and efficient. The crowd comes in batches so you could wait online or you could pick up something quickly.
I thoroughly enjoy the cupcakes. Great inexpensive birthday treat. They have a location inside the essex market as well.

The banana pudding here is absolutely DIVINE! I've only tried the original and the red velvet so far but they're both absolutely delicious! The original is quite similar to Magnolia's famous banana pudding, so not much else to be said about that! The red velvet, however, is truly unexpected as I thought the red velvet would have completely overpowered the banana. Thankfully, the flavors actually complemented each other really well. The more dense red velvet cake chunks also made the pudding more texturally interesting as well. Only complaint is that I should've gotten a larger size!
Best cupcakes in the world. When my father was dying and getting his fourth blood transfusion to keep him alive through my birthday he ate two cupcakes to celebrate. Probably his last dessert in 78 years.
I loved Sugar Sweet Sunshine for their cupcakes and pudding, so when it came time to get a wedding cake, I knew that this would be our spot. Working with Deb and her team was effortless from the start. We visited to sample different flavor combinations and settled on a simple "stucco" design that we'd add flowers as a decoration. We did a two layer cake with a sheet cake to supplement. It was simple and perfect - and delicious. We picked up the cake the day before our wedding, and it was perfectly stored and packaged, making the car trip with us to the venue and was stored in the fridge overnight. I HIGHLY recommend SSS Bakery for any special occasion cake!
