Reviews Ollie's Sichuan Restaurant

On my must eat at places whenever I visit NYC. Reasonably priced and Chinese food done how I wish most of the rest of the US would do. The Potstickers (dumplings, mandoo, etc) are in thinner wrappers than most areas and are available in pork, shrimp and vegetarian varieties (all worth a try). The other dishes have a meat and vegetables selected for quality, which results in a good base taste. The when it comes to the sauces they are balanced and lightly applied to bring out flavor and not cover up the taste of poorly selected/ prepared ingredients. For spicy dishes they rely on real peppers and spices not salt and vinegar which is an unfortunate failing in most US restaurants but thankfully not here. The menu is in Chinese and English. The decor is clean and nothing special, but the food will always make Ollie's a must stop at restaurant for my infrequent NYC visits.

If you want a great meal at an amazingly low price in an area filled with pricey meals, this is your place. Frankly, I won't eat anywhere else in the theater district. Orange Crispy Beef to die for. With soup and rice $10 for lunch. Beat that Restaurant Row (prix fixe $30)

That may have been the best Chinese food I've ever eaten! Atmosphere so so but food was outrageously good.

I like Ollies. I'm a local so I try to time it away from the pre theater crowd. But I digress, the food is right spot on and reliable. The staff know their jobs and kept me and my 6 year old happy and fed. There were some other folks there who, by the appearance of their demography, knew a thing or two about Chinese food. They were going on about how good it was. I will continue my 4-president run coming to this restaurant.

The food at this place is amazing. They also have sister restaurant in upper west side which is awful disgusting food it’s completely not what Ollie’s should be. Shame i called the restaurant on 42nd street they said not to order it from upper west side basically they know the place is bad. I would only recommend the food on 42nd street location. Basically i ordered food on Uber eats by not knowing if it was coming from different Ollie’s i not only threw the food into the garbage and also got fool refund as i sent the Uber these garbage food which I didn’t eat and basically i vomited

Solid Chinese food and reasonable prices for lunch. Each dish was 9.50. We got general tsos chicken, beef and broccoli, and ma po tofu. The ma po and tso's were a touch on the sweet and salty side, could have used more spice. Hot and sour soup and egg roll were fine.

As usual I had a great meal in an authentic Chinese restaurant on West 42nd Street of all places. The prices are fair, the food exquisite, and authentic evidenced by the amount of Chinese people eating their meals there. It's a real treat. Still a surprising treat for the unusual (authentic) menu items, Chinese customers, and reasonable pricing.

The best dumplings I have ever had!! Scallion and shrimp my favorite! Customer service was outstanding! Sweetest lady ever! Treated my disabled mother with such respect! Served us tea, and it was what we needed on such a cold day. The soups are delicious and filling. I will definitely be coming back!

I don't write reviews at all, but this place really made me wanna do something nice for them. Me and my friend came here after our visa appointment. We were the first two customers of the day. The lady who served us was very nice and gave us a free coke. We ordered Mapo Tofu and Broccoli Beef from lunch specials, and they tasted ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I can swear it is the best lunch special among all Chinese restaurants in the city that you could get with this cheap price. Also enjoyed the music they were playing. Very jazzy and chill. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I absolutely love this place. This is one of my favorite places to visit when I come to New York City. You know it’s a good place when most of the restaurant is Chinese. That means it’s great. Walk right in and they will seat you. The food comes out piping hot. This location is conveniently located just two blocks from Timesquare. All of the staff are nice. But the most important thing is the food. Everything is delicious. You get huge portions, so I would recommend ordering family style with whoever you came with. One of the best dishes they have is the dry sautéed green beans. If you love garlic and veggies you will love these green beans. The flavor is out of this world. The lo mein is amazing the Ramen is amazing I tried the General TSO’s 🍤 - AMAZING. FRIED 🍛 RICE - AMAZING. Everything is amazing. Wait, did I say everything was amazing? If you were looking for authentic flavorful piping hot Chinese food, this is your place!

The food was delicious. It was so refreshing to see quality pork in sweet and sour. The fried rice was quite good. We did a take out order and appreciated the care to separate the sauces from the meat so that the meat did not become soggy. The only disappointment was not finding forks or spoons in our bags. Otherwise the experience was very good.

The original Szechwan Chinese restaurant in New York. I have been eating here for the last 15 years. It has all the standard Szechwan dishes and they are uniformly good. It is reliably and delightfully spicy and oily ! The braised fish in oil, twice cooked pork and dandan noodles have been sturdy favorites over the years. Service is friendly - and usually quick.
