Food is excellent. Staff is super nice. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Everything was very fresh. Wasn’t too busy for lunch. We walked in and got a table with no reservation. I think it was because it was a bank holiday.
Tasty!!! Great fun Italian joint. Noisy but very hip. Great pastas and I loved the German sausages. All the apps are wonderful as well. Lots of fun to eat here. It seems odd to say, but the olives here were really outstanding as well. We loved this place. Check out all of our reviews. The food was good. We had a Milanese and a Burger. The service at the bar was nice. Cesar is so attentive! He recommended some drinks and wines for the food.
One of the best burgers in New York. Interior is beautiful and service is great. Also fries comes with the amazing burger was so good. It’s one of the best fries I’ve ever had. And the flavor balance of Panna cotta is fantastic.
New American style Italian spot where everything is done just right - good ambiance (day and night, bar and dining room), consistently well executed and curate menu with seasonal ingredients, nice wine selection, reasonable price, friendly service, and easy reservations. Other than their ricotta spread and pasta, highly recommend the charcuterie plate, grilled fish, and their silky panna cotta and very dark chocolate torte.
Outstanding. Bread, olives, arancini, duck ragu, squid ink pasta, espresso, panna cotta, amaro. Simple dishes done extremely well.
Service exemplary, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Somm top notch. Duck ragu the star.
Solid four stars! Food was good - we shared the olives, bread, mozzarella, and mushroom gnocchi. All of the dishes were excellent (especially the gnocchi which was fragrant and silky) - but I felt the price for the mozzarella was robbery for the portion size. Service was good but not the kind you would comment on to say ‘great service’. The Calabrian Daisy cocktail was a highlight. Overall would come back happily and try more dishes.
Some dishes were excellent, some were downright bland (especially the Monkfish) - would give a 3.5 on food if I could.
The char on the steak I had was out of this world!! So freaking good!! Buffalo Carpaccio was really tasty as well. Spaghetti Pomodoro was excellent as well.
Updated review:
Came back for dinner with my family! We ordered the polpo, candele, malfatti, Bolognese, & the cod. The bolognese was very good and I’d order it again! The cod was a bit too salty for us. Staff was very friendly but service was a bit slow.
First review:
Loved everything we got, especially the pasta & oysters! Our waiter was also really nice because he gave us a free dessert 💗
This was my third time at AP and no questions asked. Very consistent in terms of food and service. Ignacio has done a great job here. Candele cacio e pepe and fennel salad. Chau gracias.
From start to finish Altro Paradiso was spectacular! Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The wine selection was absolutely fantastic with some true rare gems that you don't see often, and at a reasonable price as well.
The food was stellar, we enjoyed Fluke Crudo, Fennel & Provolone Salad and the special which was a 55oz Porterhouse with Fries and Arugala Salad for three. All very appropriately priced.
Overall for a birthday dinner I was pleasantly surprised and cannot wait to go back when the opportunity presents itself!
What an amazing place and such a delicious meal!!
The restaurant is all the way downtown and the area around it is nice but not crowded if you go during the weekend. One major nit was that their outdoor patio is well heated but not properly setup. My chair was at the edge of the opening and had to have my jacket on during dinner the entire time.
With that said, everything else was perfect. I really liked the touch of an on table taste of the wine to confirm that’s the one we want. My wife tried a few before settling on her wine.
For appetizers we got the arancini (5/5), polenta (4/5) and they served us the house sesame bread. Everything was amazing and I could eat 10 more of the arancini. The calabrese pepper sauce that comes with the arancini is sooo good. I dipped everything in it.
I generally rate Italian places with how well them make their pasta al dente and how well they make cacio e Pepe. While the restaurant passed on creativity and texture on the candele pasta, I wished for more thicker of a sauce and the pasta was a bit too heavy on the pepper for my liking. Overall it’s still a solid dish and I’d give it a 5/5.
For dessert we got the seasonal persimmon jam pie which was super thin and flavorful. I loved the addition of a HEAVY cream dollop that helped balance out the flavors. Highly recommend!
What an incredible dining experience. Been back a few times now and every time, it has been a great dinner. The bread with ricotta is the best way to start a dinner and the salads are delicious! Pasta dishes are lovely and the panna cotta is perfect. But while it is a delicious dinner, the service and atmosphere is what makes Altro Paradiso a unique and sought-after evening. I would highly suggest requesting Miguel as your server, who always makes our evening one to remember.
Cute place. Delicious food, good wine list and Nice cocktails. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was raining outside so they set up a second umbrella so we will not get wet. Fennel salad is so delicious.
The food here is very delicious and fresh. It’s a little overpriced but that’s expected for NY. We got the Gamboa carpaccio which was a very unique dish and I would definitely recommend it. The pasta was fresh and al dente. The ambiance of the restaurant was very fun too. A little loud so not the best for conversations but it’s a fun vibe! Would def come back here
Review for Tock: Pick up Valentine's day menu only.
Originally had a reservation for 6:30 pm for pickup which I had the restaurant push back to 7:00 pm due to a scheduling conflict. Arrived at the restaurant at approximately 6:50 pm and was told to wait outside the restaurant as the order was not quite ready. At 7:05 pm the hostess comes outside and apologizes for the delay and offers a complimentary glass of proseco as a consolation, nice touch. I finish the glass while I continue to wait for another 10 minutes in which my food, wine and flowers were delivered into my hands. Food and packaging look pleasing. 4 courses in total, appetizer is a citrus arugula salad very refreshing and light. Onto the 2nd course a cappelleti pasta dish - a but heavy but delicious. For the main course we got a roasted lamb chop and grilled artic char dish both very delectable on their own right. After the main was finished we were quite stuffed, will save the dessert for later possibly add the review for the dessert on a update. Wine package came with an ensemble of Italian wines, one red mix, one white and a bottle of bubbly. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice date night or romantic evening. Would go back and try the other dishes another time.
