This place is an Italian restaurant that is very unassuming. You walk by and your last thought is an Italian restaurant. But the food was really good. It was more authentic and less "olive garden-y" which I really liked. The portion sizes are kinda odd though. If you're going with friends, make sure you ask the server about the serving sizes because some portions are huge and some are tiny. My friend ordered the daily special of the tortellini and it was a decent portion. I ordered the chicken Parm and it was big enough that I was able to give him a nice chunk of my meal. It is a nice place overall.
Frank’s is a solid Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy or flashy. Simple, good quality Italian food. The servers are low key and friendly. The bruschetta was on fantastic, toasted sourdough bread. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the rigatoni al ragú had quality meatballs and sausage. The chicken parmigiana is MASSIVE, pounded flat and covered with tons of sauce, Parmesan, and mozzarella. End the meal with the affogato. Two scoops of vanilla covered in espresso…perfection. Simple and good meal.
Great little Italian restaurant in the east village. The service was terrific-great vibe. We had the lasagna special which was excellent-bubbly cheese and great flavor. The salmon was lightly flavored, perfectly braised with a large salad. The penne was light and flavorful. We finished with the tiramisu which was not overly sweet and had less rum than others we’ve tried, which made for a lighter dessert, great after pasta.
Cash only, and get there early or make a reservation.
Great service, great Italian-American food, cash only but they have an ATM. Fun place to go with someone who knows the menu. I recommend asking the server for their recommendations because I wouldn’t have ordered certain items that were amazing! The pasta al limone stood out as well as the burrata. The rigatoni with ragu was great but I was already full from so many starters that I took half home. Be careful not to over order!
Eggs with meat ragu is amazing its like a shakshuka on steroids. Olive oil that they give you with the bread is mad spicy so beware of that. Cash only but they have atm next door inside bar area. Bathroom is super small not comfortable. Restaurant itself is comfy and has a rundown/rustic feel to it. Service is friendly and welcoming. Would come again. Get the 3 for 1 brunch drinks deal and you can have 3 drinks for $17.
Heaven on a plate! Danielle was a perfect waitress and made me feel like I was eating at a friend's house. The pasta, Amalfi Limone was beyond delicious! GO!!!
Great spot. We ate outside, had a larger group. Food, drinks and weather made for a perfect night.
My new favorite Italian restaurant in the city! The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is cooked perfectly, the vibes are spot on. I'm excited to return and bring out of towners.
Fantastic meal here! My friend and I spent two lovely hours in their outdoor dining structure. The service was fantastic and food delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. When the host asked us to leave early (we had been at our table for two hours), he even gave us extra wine to go to make up for it! So charming. I have been twice now and absolutely would go again.
Make a reservation and bring cash. They have an ATM inside. Wonderful experience with a great server. I felt so cozy and felt like I was having a family dinner. Order the bruschetta as an appetizer, it was perfect. I wasn’t thrilled by my penne vodka, didn’t have much flavor and wasn’t piping hot. My friends had the ravioli and that was delicious. I would love to come back and try something else or try one of Franks other restaurants.
Best pasta in recent times! We ordered Tomato and Basil pasta with tagliatelle instead of the one with Penne on the menu, because we wanted to have to their fresh pasta. It was an absolute bliss! The pasta was so light and sauce was so fresh. We also had their zucchini hot soup, it was so earthy and heavenly as well. Will definitely go back.
We had a great time at the terrace. The service is kind and they brought some water for our dog. Dishes are quite big. We only order one for each and a dessert. Would highly recommend the gnocchi with stracciatella and tomato
Absolutely delicious, but not a large menu selection. Service was friendly, but not necessarily far. The largest con, or more of annoyance really is the cash only policy although there is an ATM inside. A little overpriced for the vibe, but definitely worth still checking out.
Note, outside seating only available until 12am and the restaurant is cash only.
The food was excellent. In particular, the Monday special (homemade ravioli with butternut squash filling) was a spectacular vegetarian option. The service was great: fast and helpful. The late night sidewalk seating was really cool.
I enjoyed the vibe immensely! Grandma's cooking late night outside on 2nd street. Couldn't be happier.
Went there based on the recommendation from an Italian friend. Wasn't disappointed at all.
We got the burrata and arugula/tomato/parmesan salad. The burrata was very fresh and was out of this world! The argula is a bit different from what I get in CA - bit more bitter so I thought it could have benefitted from candied nuts.
The wine list was extensive, lots of Italian options of course and other places as well, including Napa.
For entrees we got Rigatoni Ragu, penne vodka and a fish. The rigatoni is a classic, had meatballs and sausages and the sauce was very done. My fellow diner liked her penne but the other didn't like the fish - thought it was too average.
The place is hoping and you will not get a table if you don't reserve a spot. The service was a bit stretched - too many tables and too few wait staff and a small kitchen. So bunch of our food was late. We were fine, chatting and enjoying the evening but some others were not. The host gave us a complimentary dessert to make up for the delays.
Overall recommend the place but make reservations and plan for a 2 hour dinner 😃.
Incredible experience. Go early to beat the crowds and bring cash. Great wine selection. Food was delicious, ambiance was so chill and fun. Service was welcoming. We went as a couple but it looked like it would be fun for a small group dinner or even at the bar with friends. We had the orange and fennel salad, and a couple of pasta dishes- truly fantastic.
Fantastic gem on 2nd Ave. 👍🎉🕺🏻. I went to brunch, and started with the beet salad, then the ragu pasta. The service was excellent. The perfect pace, relaxed and welcoming. The staff knows what they are doing! I felt like I was at a friends house.
I was perfectly satisfied with my meal but opted to splurge on dessert, just as the coffee finished brewing. Why not. Again, I was not disappointed. I got the chocolate cake with fresh fruit and a scoop of homemade ice cream.
Everything about this casual delicious meal has me looking forward to my next visit.
the pasta was delicious!
i got the lamb ragu and my boyfriend got the special which was gnocchi with truffle! fast and friendly service as well!
went back again for the black linguine with calamari and it was just WOW! so good!
