Was looking around for a Vietnamese restaurant near the area and found this one. There's so many Chinese restaurants in NYC alone, it's hard to find a good Vietnamese place. It's not like the Bay Area. Anyway, I tried the tofu and vegetables over vermicelli and it was tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was hot when it arrived. The veggies weren't overcooked. I was happy they considered my diet. Normally, the vermicelli dishes come with meat. I was able to add tofu to it. I will come back to the and try other dishes.
I am stuffed to the brim from all the food I have eaten thus far. Every single dish is delicious, and you know what, it's a real bargain too! (Approx. $130 including 18% tips) Some of the food we had: Fried Fish Imperial Rolls Lemongrass Shrimp Grilled meat that one wrap in lettuce and noodles Tamarind soup with shrimp and shaved lotus roots that is to die for. So delicious! (no picture) Ong Choy (watercress) that is absolutely crunchy and yummy. (See greens in first picture.) And of course, can't forget a big bowl of Pho (beef noodle soup). (See bowl of soup in first picture.)
I don't eat in Chinatown very often & when I do, it's normally at a Chinese restaurant, but I've passed Nam Son so many times while shopping around Grand Street that I decided to finally give it a go.
The interior of Nam Son is on the other end of the spectrum from Boi. Nam Son feels a bit like a cafeteria, waiters bustling to and from the kitchen, a cart filled with dirty dishes standing in the middle of the entrance to the dining area, and workers pu
Incredibly vast menu, I love eating here because of the taste, portion and price. It’s delicious and I’m always sure to get a yummy dish no matter what
Visiting New York and this restaurant is one my favorite ones for Vietnamese food. The restaurant is spacious inside and close to the subway. Not only does the food look good, it tastes super delicious also. The price is unbeatable compared to the quality of food as well. 10 out of 10
Best Pho I’ve ever had!
The first taste of the soup I know that there is little artificial flavor in it. After two slices of lemon, the pho combined the sourness and the fatness from the various meat.
What a meal.
Good & tasty food. Lots of choices to choose from. Traditional Vietnamese food. Fast service. Quick & friendly wait staff. Nice atmosphere. Can dine in or take out.
It's ridiculous to write a review for Nam Son. This is a third place for couples, singles, family, and friends. Sure Phos and other Vietnamese staples are there, but you don't come here just for food, or only when hungry, you come because you are part of the Nam Son family.
Good viet spot on the neighborhood. Gets busy at night but plenty of space. My go to would definitely always the #1 on the menu plus spring rolls.
I'm a Vietnamese and it makes me surprised that I could find a place serves authentic Vietnamese food like this in NYC. It's better than I expect. The place looks nice and clean. They served the food pretty quick and they have really long menu with many different Vietnamese dishes. I would love to try more dishes next time. I ordered Pho no.5 and my boyfriend ordered fried rice with the beefsteak which is no.139. And the price here is a big surprise. I don't think you can find any places selling authentic Vietnamese cuisine with better price than this one.
Updated review 06/05/2022: still good as always.
Great restaurant. Great food, large portion, well priced. Recommend 9, 10 or 11 pho noddles on the menu. Their fried spring rolls are also REALLY good.
This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant in Manhattan Chinatown. The location is very convenient, right outside of the Grand station. I always eat there after I finish shopping at Chinatown. The portion of each dish, taste, and price are undeniable. I ordered fried vege spring roll as a starter. It is a must try before Pho’. I like beef ball Pho’ so I ordered that as well. This place is usually packed in the evening. However, the servers make sure for you to be seated in a few minutes. No reservation required.
Great meal and prompt service at a reasonable price. Would definitely order this again!
Authentic Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup & spring rolls at NY China Town. Good customer service. Staff were friendly. Food served fast & hot.
I came with a large group to Nam Son and everything we ordered was delicious and it all came out super fast. The summer rolls are delicious , especially the peanut sauce it comes with , the crispy spring rolls are amazing and the grilled pork and rice is so good. Definitely authentic Vietnamese food.
The grilled chicken vermicelli is one of the best value items! Very well grilled chicken and generous portion with lots of vermicelli!
A definite must-try item! Pho soup is good (not amazing but definitely enjoyable on a cold day)
Nice variety of Vietnamese food found in a convenient location in This is a must try for a quick lunch. I really liked the grilled pork with rice and nuoc mam here. Very convenient place to eat if you are in a hurry to take the B or D train on Grand Street!
Yummy Vietnamese food! A very good place to grab a meal. The place is very casual but the food is really good. If you’re craving Vietnamese you have to check this place out! It’s in the heart of Chinatown in Manhattan.
Came in randomly and it was really tasty and good prices! I got the eye of round and the broth was fantastic! Place has a cute vibe with lights in entrance.
Hands down the best pho in nyc for its price. The pho came with a massive bowl, with layers of beef, for only $14. All was very fresh and tender. The soup was very savory. The environment was pretty traditional Asian decor. Feels nostalgic and heart warming. Especially a nice place to bring family or friends for a wholesome night. Will come back and try all their other dishes.
