Degustation is a small plates venue with great charm. They seat you overlooking the chefs kitchen where they professionally prepare your food right in front of your eyes. They have so many options and it's pretty amazing seeing them make it right there in arms reach. Try the brussels sprouts - they come with a cheese and Funyun dusting on top. The Paella is great and then finally you must try the Foie Gras cauliflower ice cream with almond shavings - It's spectacular. Staff are very attentive and they really do go out of their way to help and make suggestions if needs be. Try it

Whenever I visit NYC, I am always on the lookout for unique and fun places to dine.  This particular trip, which started out as a long arduous few days of work ended on Friday evening with a welcoming adventure of a fusion of French, Spanish and Iberian tastings, which surprised, delighted and awakened forgotten taste buds.

We both had the 10 course tasting menu. Would have paid much more for that quality. Extremely memorable, I look forward to my next trip to NYC!

Fav NYC place to eat. When last in NYC I went to Degustation and totally loved this place and the quirky little sitting area around the cooks. I was also privileged to critique a new scallop plate (due to being Aussie)! Fantastic on every level....

Excellent. Incredible special place. Very small and intimate (perhaps 20 seats) all arranged around a cooking station / bar. Incredible presentation and astounding food. Well worth a trip.

For several years, this tiny upscale vanguard food concept has pleased the most demanding foodies of manhattan. Degustation is smart, food, show but has become a bit pricey.

While watching the kitchen staff may be a treat for some, the real eye-candy is the food. These are not the sort of tapas you’re used to eating: heaping mounds of fried calamari served with a lemon slice and side dish of aioli, or large-cut patatas bravas covered haphazardly in spicy sauce. At Degustation, each ingredient is carefully p

A poached egg does its oozing business in the centre of the bowl as a medley of toasted cashews, grated white cheddar and snap-fried Brussels sprouts await some mixing action.

On Saturday night of my girls weekend in New York, we kicked off the evening with an amazing meal at Degustation in the East Village. We almost missed it as we walked by as it’s tucked away with a generally nondescript door. The restaurant is small and po

On a tuesday night around 7, the place wasn't really that busy - there were probably 5-6 other diners there with us that night so it felt like we had the undiluted attention of all three of the chefs standing behind the counter including the young, infini

I think I have found my favorite restaurant in NYC, or maybe one of my favorite restaurants - Degustation Wine & Tasting Bar. I like that the restaurant is small and cozy with 16 seats surrounding the open kitchen and I absolutely love the franco-spanish

Amazing dining experience. We did the 7 course tasting menu and it was phenomenal. The restaurant is very intimate with seating along a counter that surrounds the chefs cooking. Each course was prepared masterfully and with great care in the presentation and the flavor. Highly recommended for a special occasion/date!

Very trendy decor, the food was superb. My wife and I did the chef's tasting menu (now only 1 option for 7 courses @ $80) and it was fantastic. We did the wine pairings as well ($70 pp) which was well worth it. Definitely make a reservation as what you see in the picture here is the entire restaurant, but it is really cool to be able to see the chef preparing you dinner in front of you!

Oh my. We typically go for the tasting menu, but everything on the regular menu looked so delicious that we just picked a bunch of small plated instead. I've never loved parsnips so much in my life. And you can't beat sitting right in front of where your food is being made. I also appreciate that they don't pack you in here. There is very limited seating, and ample space for each seat so you're not elbowing your neighbor's plate.

The smaller tasting menu was one of the best meals I've ever had. The larger 11-course menu was not as good -- the pieces of food were too small to be satisfying, but then, the sous chef was cooking the second time.

Very trendy dining establishment. My entire party and I tried the tasting menu; as a group, we definitely enjoyed it although for me personally none of the dishes seemed to be particularly inventive. The service is wonderful; very polite and courteous people. The atmosphere lends itself very well for conversation so it's definitely a place for lingering and "slow" eating.

we went for the full monty - 10 course tasting menu with the wine paring. the food was excellent, and filling, but not overwhelming. the wine was great compliment to the food. overall it was a fabulous evening. i would highly recommend for someone who is interested in a different night out dining instead of your typical point and shoot restaurant

Simple but elegant ambience, extraordinary professional and attentive service (actually it puts a whole experience on a much higher level of enjoyment), and the most pleasurable part of the evening of course is THE FOOD. Combinations of the flavors are amazing!!! The entertainment of watching how it’s done is interesting and somewhat a learning experience. Seeing the eyes of the Chef when you express your deepest appreciation for the experience – PRICELESS!!!! We recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves gourmet food.

I typically am not a huge fan of tapas restaurants as I never leave really feeling like I satisfied my appetite but Degustation pleasantly surprised me and my stomach more importantly! It's a small but cozy space where you get to sit around the cooking station and get to watch the chefs perform their magic. We ordered about 7 dishes which included a dessert for a party of 2. The server had misheard one of the orders but let us have the incorrect one on the house and still served us what we had originally ordered. Despite this little snafu (but truly a blessing in disguise since we got to eat foie gras for free!), the service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive and they came to clean up our space and changed our utensils frequently. You can tell the chefs put a lot of thought and care into making their dishes so was very happy to have spent my anniversary here. Thanks for making it special and tasty!

Absolutely Incredible!! My favorite place to eat in Manhattan! the service is impeccable! The food is unbelievable, and watching the chefs make it is half the fun! And the best part? I have never been turned away, or had to wait to get a table without reservations-even in that tiny space. You couln't possibly ask for more than that!

Neat place. We couldn't find it initially. It's just a door so look carefully. Otherwise, food was excellent. We got the tasting menu Place is bit small so definitely not a good place for group. Take your wife or GF for a nice romantic dinner.

I took my significant other here for his birthday and we elected to try the tasting menu, I was so glad I did. The dishes were unique and delicious. I have made it a point to try various tasting menus around NYC and I can honestly say Degustation is at the top of the list, might I add that for me it fell far above even the coveted Eleven Madison Park. Enough said.

The restaurant is small and only has a bar around the kitchen for perhaps 20 guests. It is an intimate setting where you can watch the 3 chefs cook your food. It is fun to see your food pass from the fryer to the counter to be garnished with tweasers. After eating your plate, you can see another one being made and wish you could have some more. I was able to see almost all of the menu items being made. As far as the food, some are excellent while others are merely decent. Croquettes were fine, but not exceptional. Brussels sprout was a tasty, fun dish that included funyuns garnish. Cabbage w/ boquerones was excellent. The foie gras was paired with a strange califlower ice cream--very unique. Paella was very flavorful in good way. Lots and lots of seasoning. Wreckfish was cooked well, but uninteresting. For whatever reason, the riesling foam was absent. Torrija is a winner. The texture is so amazing, and of course caramel and salt tastes wonderful. Overall, it is a unique experience and I think you are getting excellent food and service for the money. Torrija, Paella, and Brussel Sprouts are standouts.

The 10 course tasting menu is one of the least expensive you'll have in the city and one of the most inventive. The place is small seats about 25 people in chef counter setting. You'll witness your meal being prepared.

This place is amazing! The brussel sprouts were crispy, and divinely flavorful. The savoy cabbage was tasty. The paella was delicious, especially for a seafood dish, and seasoned incredibly. The wreckfish was fine, though I suspect they forgot to add the Riesling froth. The foie gras was good and not presented as a ground mush as it often is, but as a structured liver. For desert, the torrija was delicious--the bread was such a soft and interesting texture, and the sea salt added much flavor. Service was great and it was really cool to be able to watch our food being prepared right in front of our eyes.

Wonderful spanish cuisines. Nice music to go along with the calm-and-dazzling atmosphere. The drinks and the wine went perfectly with the food!
