Went by Despaña for what was supposed to be a quick lunch stop, but we ended up having lunch inside to enjoy the lovely ambience. The place is run by people that truly care about their produce, and you can taste it as well. We went for two toasted sandwiches, I really recommend visiting!
Fantastic food just a little bit pricey. The croquettes were fantastic but sooooo expensive. $4.25 for an individual one is nuts. But the Serrano ham one is delicious. The sandwiches were great! I absolutely loved the Despana one. The goat cheese and ham were a perfect match for the bread. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine from next door at the tables. Everything was clean and the service was great.
A wonderful place for tapas. Delicious and fresh food within a store. A nice experience!
Food was great! Didn’t like how the salad came in a togo bowl as I like to dine-in. Large menu but was difficult to understand but even ordering blindly every thing was good! Tons of dried meats and cheeses as well as a fair selection of wine and other culinary items.
1. Try out their cheesecake. It is to die for.
2. The best cheese (I tried 6 of them) is the one that has a combination of milks. The other ones are good, this one is just superior.
3. The staff is very professional and courteous.
Overall solid place for some good quality Spanish food.
Food is delicious, especially their sandwiches. Their octopus is delicious. Friendly staff. Order at register, have a seat, and they'll bring you your food.
This place definitely reminded me of when I was in Spain, from the people to the food to the music and the drinks. The food was delicious and the sangria was delightful. The place in inexpensive and cute. My friend went on a Thursday evening and it was not very crowded so we had a good time. The service was very friendly. Definitely ask for Martha as she was an awesome host!
Incredible service, we were unsure of which vinegar to buy so the staff set up a tasting for us to decide. 12/10
Such a wonderful destination for snake and ingredients from Spain.
The cafe in the back makes a delicious Tortilla Española (in three flavors) and a array of other small bites that you can eat in or outside.
Their jamón offering is broad and wide offering fresh and packaged versions.
Yes they have lots of tins but the variety changes based on availability so if you see what you want but lots
A very cute grocery store with seats available inside.
Their Iberico ham was very authentic. Tender and flavorful while not too salty, a definite healthy ham to have. Highly recommended if you have yet tried this type of ham. Other food was less impressive.
The price is high, but consider their location this is understandable. A good spot to stop by for some small tapas for sure.
Service was good and atmosphere very Spanish. Four star well deserved. They also have a wine store next door which I would like to check up next time. It looks great!
Authentic and quality Spanish ingredients. You can also get something to eat at the place in a bunch of tables they have: a few tapas and wine. But the strong point is the sort of market with all quality goods from Spain: jamón ibérico, anchoas, bonito, arroz bomba, judión de la granja, fabes, morcillas, chorizos, quesos, almendras marcona, vinagre de jerez, aceite de oliva… the list goes on. Top quality products
Excellent selections of Spanish wine. Also saw a few shelves of Italian. When buying wine, the vendor mentioned that a bottle can be opened at their outdoor tables. Pretty neat, huh? The deli next door wasn’t open when I visited. Used to love their little dishes. BYOB, in a sense
I came in Yesterday and was assisted by a gentleman named Ray. He helped me choose right wine. He offered Pingus Riberra del Duero. And it was excellent. They have great choice of food, i tried some cheese and it was really tasty. Felt like real authetic spanish food. Will be back.
By far the best Spanish restaurant you can find in the area. I wide selection of unique, original Spanish tapas, pinxtos and so much more. You can even buy authentic imported Spanish food to take home.
Best place to find Spanish cooking supplies and foods in the city, plus a variety of sandwiches and tapas. Indoor and outdoor seating. Super knowledgeable staff. Occasional special events like paella days.
What a treat to sit in the back and have a bunch of small orders both cold and warm served to your table. And don’t forget to take home some of their great selection.
Decent selection of tapas and Spanish treats, meats, cheeses, and beverages. Prices aren’t bad unless you’re comparing them to Spain’s prices... but it’s typical for New York. Service is fine, selection is limited but will bring you joy if you miss some of your Spanish brands. Lots of Spaniard expats here enjoying a bit of home when we were there (rainy Saturday afternoon). The papas bravas picantes, and the chocolate a la taza were yummy. Nice spot to sit in the back.
What a delicious experience! It's small and it can be hard to miss with its own wine shop next door but this little grocery store/cafe is a perfect escape from New York . The Bocadillos were great, jamon fantastic, excellent chorizo and I'll definitely be back to try the pinxtos. Space is a little limited but that adds to the charm and you can buy pretty much all the things you eat on the menu to take home in the grocery store. My Spanish mate who came along with me said it met the standard. Knocking off a star or a half star if I could be Use the shrimp on the paella were a little over cooked.
