Reviews Dorado Tacos

It's always nice to find an affordable place to grab lunch in the city.  We tried 4 or 5 different tacos and they were all very tasty.  I would have given it a higher rating but the corn on the cob that we had that day was on the cold side - aside from that everything else was top notch.  Also of note: because they use corn tacos and have grilled meat and fish choices it's a good dining choice for someone who is avoiding gluten.  It's small so I wouldn't plan on lingering, but for a quick bite it's ideal.

I just discovered another cheap restaurant near Union Square: it is called Dorado Tacos & Quesadillas. They make tacos and quesadillas, but you can also get soup, one being with cheese and quesadillas, the other one with tacos. Ok, let just say that they serve tacos and quesadillas in different ways!!! It is a small place with a communal table in the center, two small tables and some stools. It is so small that If you sit at one of the tables like I did, don't be surprised to bang into the person behind you from time to time!  The way it works is that you order at the counter, they assign you a number, and will call you once your food is ready.  We started off with the chips, guacamole and salsa.  The guacamole was already packaged but pretty good! The salsa, not spicy and refreshing, perfect with the tortilla chips that were thick, well salted and seemed homemade.  Then, I decided to go with an all fish taco selection. I first picked the Baja taco: beer batter Atlantic whitefish serve

I'm hooked. This is fast, fresh Mexican food at its finest. And the Baja Original fish taco, impossibly priced at $2.95, is a Cheap Eats triumph. Two freshly made corn tortillas cradle a meaty hunk of beer battered Atlantic pollock, shredded cabbage, pickled onions, salsa fresca (tomatoes, onions, cilantro) and crema. And a squirt of lime. Texture, crunch, a burst of flavor. Refined simplicity.

Great service and food. Got the California burrito and it was quite filling! The Chorizo taco was delicious and the churros came out hot !

Great alternative for chipotle or Dos Toros. Good selections from quesadillas to salad and bowls. Great tastes came with great values as well. The store doesn't have much seating, but they also have a few outdoor seating, not a bad choice for the summer.

Baja Burritos is great. I get it every time I go there. Very busy during lunch. I was here almost once a week.

Really good fish tacos and chips. Super tasty guac. The fish taco is elegantly fried and dressed up well. They’re reasonably priced and 2.49 on wednesdays after 3. Arguably one of the best deals in the city. I remember when they were $1 though! The chips are really good. Salty and crunch and pair perfectly with the guac. I would pass on the carne asada and the carnitas. The carne asada didn’t seem freshly grilled and was dry. The carnitas wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t the juiciest I’ve ever had. The mild salsa is ok as well. Didn’t have much depth of flavor. Overall, would recommend stopping in for a fish tacos, but the meat tacos are not on the Los Tacos No 1 level.

California burrito was good and pretty filling, but the contents of the burrito (especially the sauce/cream) weren’t well spread out, which made the bottom half of the burrito taste better than the other half. Salsas were pretty good though

Despite the long Pride weekend lines, this food came out hot, quickly, and was absolutely delicious! Really pricey, but hey that’s what NY prices are I assume. Worth every penny in my book though!

Delicious. This place was so nice, the staff was incredibly friendly, and I got a large filling California burrito with crispy fries and good sour cream inside it for a really good price compare to the other places around here. Absolutely recommend , I had an excellent experience.

I've been coming here for the past couple months now and i gotta say this place is fantastic. I usually get the california steak burrito which always hits the spot. They give you a nice portion for the price too. The steak tacos and chicken burritos are good too and Wednesdays after 3 you can get a great deal: 2.50 fish tacos! The hot sauce here is very tasty flavorful, and you can pour it yourself so its not like other places that get on my nerves charging u a dollar per sauce or giving u a thimble of side sauce only after pressing them. Thats not to even the mention the service here, which is phenomenal. They are always fast and if you frequent there enough they even remember your name which may sound like a small thing but i really appreciate! Next time you're craving Mexican food in the area skip Chipotle and choose Dorado. Better prices, better portions, and better taste. You will not be disappointed!

The best Mexican food! The California burrito is to die for and the quesadillas are fantastic! Reasonable price and the line moves fast, free water to drink. I would have taken a better photo of the burrito but I couldn't stop myself from devouring it! Friendly staff.

The tacos and chips were absolutely wonderful! They were very savory and well-seasoned, and our baja fish was perfectly cooked. The place is not too big - appears to be geared more towards a to-go restaurant style. But adequate seating is available. Very reasonably priced. In fact, it is relatively cheap considering its location. Staff was friendly and the service was very quick.

Great spot to pick up lunch if you work in the area and want Mexican. Burritos are great but might leave you wanting to nap at your desk after finishing one. Would recommend getting takeout as it is not the best set up for dining in

I needed a quick bite and saw Dorado out of the corner of my eye. I got Three Beef Taquitos with Guacamole & Cheeses. Service was quick & pleasant. They have a glass dispenser with ice water. Seating is at counters or group tables, so be neighborly

You know what my Bowl was delicious and super filling. It's tiny so a little crammed if it's busy but the staff are nice and it's a great mid price option for the area!

A friend from California recommended this place. *Notes: Carne Asada, it’s tasty but not the best, maybe they need to select different beef cuts, just a little bit of more juiciness and it will be perfect. *Reason why it got 4 instead of 5 stars: the fries used were your regular burger fries, the genuine California burrito has fresh French fries that are a little bit thicker and tender. *it’s very generous, with a lot of meat. I had hard time finishing it, I would say it was 1.25x times my capacity.

I must say that Dorado Tacos serves the most generous amounts of fillings in their tacos. I got all their tacos and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Their tacos are super cheap. The place is small and cute and has a likited seating capacity. My favorite was the fish taco. It was very crunchy and had an amazing flavor! This place beats all big names like Los Tacos, Chipotle and Dos Toros. A must go place for Tacos.

Best tacos in the city. I go for the mushroom, and the fish tacos. The rest on the menu are good but not the next-level. Also their Wednesday offer is great.
