I went to this new restaurant last night and couldn't believe how good it was. I like Indian food, but was not expecting it to be THIS delicious so I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, when I walked in, the decor stood out as being so different, elegant, modern yet classic all at the same time. Beautifully painted walls and the seating is so much better than other places here in the city. They have several of these booths surrounding the tables and I was lucky enough to get one of those. They have a full bar with great drinks so I was in no rush to leave. Unfortunately I had eaten not that long ago so only ordered a couple small dishes, but besides being large enough to fill me up, they were DELICIOUS!!! I had the "Begun Bharta," which was honestly the best eggplant I've ever had. It was smoked and just had an incredible flavor. It also came with several roti chips to dip in there and I finished every last one. (My mouth wanted another one, but my stomach was already getting full from the size of it.) I def can't wait to order that again though!! I also had the "Aloo Gobi," which was a garam masala with potato and cauliflower. I love cauliflower and always have, but this was cooked and flavored so perfectly! Just a slight kick, but intense flavor and will def be ordering that again. The side of naan bread I got with some yogurt sauce to dip in was also phenomenal. Bread was warm and sweet and I've tried so many diff yogurt sauces from other places, but this one had the best flavor! Can't wait to try everything else. Service was quick too. The owners even came over to introduce themselves and make sure everything was ok. I guess since this restaurant is still new, they are prob trying to meet each of their customers, which showed me they cared. I'll def be back and so looking forward to it!!!

A group of colleagues (leaders, seniors and peers) were meeting after 2-3 years. The restaurant management was thoughtful enough to accommodate the right seating arrangement for us where we had our own space and time to chat and catch-up. The food options were great and the cocktails were out-of-the-box! The chef and owner provided us with a complimentary chaat. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. Would love to come again in the future!!

The restaurant is well located for the theatre district. We opted to order from the regular menu instead of the pre-theatre prix fixe menu. The food was great. The service was also top notch. We’ll return the next time we’re in NYC for a meal when we’re not in a hurry to get to a show.

Excellent service, food, and attention. I came for a dinner with coworkers and left with wanting to come back again (bringing family and friends) next time I’m in town. Amazing cocktails and food selection. Please ask for Raj, your time at Saar will be one to remember!! He was amazing!!!

LOCATION: walkable distance to Times Square FOOD: Flavourful and spicy. Portion size is good. They also have side order portions which is good for 1-2 person. DRINKS: We tried the Mocktails and they were pretty average. Wouldn’t order them again. Staff: Courteous & attentive. Service was really good. I will definitely recommend this place.

Amazing Indian food experience. Came here just before a Broadway show, had the 3 course meal. Delicious, everything was excellent, so flavorful and tasty. Walk across the street to the Gerschwin theatre, so convenient!

This is one of the popular Indian restaurants and make sure you book in advance. Crispy Okra salad is worth trying. Paneer Lababdar tasted perfect and paired well with Naan🫓. Cochin black pepper chicken was also good. Biryanis are ok. Overall, a good experience.

Went before the theater crowd went and it was amazing! Definitely one of the best places to eat in this area. The staff were so friendly. The food was amazing. Accommodating to one of our group who was sensitive to some foods. The drinks were crazy good. Can’t say enough good things.

We enjoyed the simpler ambiance and food in this Indian restaurant. We tried the beetroot starter which was well balanced with slight spicy sauce. For entrees, we went with the mix veg saag which had good assortment of veggies and Butter chicken. Overall, a good family option if you are around for a show or around the area.

Phenomenal. An unknown gem in the theatre district. We came with a pulsd voucher for my partner's birthday after a show, and the staff was incredibly gracious despite the fact that we ran quite late (the show went over time) and still gave excellent service. The food was knockout good; we had the samosa sampler and tandoori prawns, and our friends had jackfruit biryani. The drinks are very creative not just in showy garnishes but also in flavour composition; the aroma from the saffron infused gin keeps blooming in your mouth for a solid minute after you sip, and the charred cedar boxes gives a beautiful contrast to the mango. Would give ten stars if we could and I will absolutely return with more friends.

Saar, we stumbled upon this restaurant on a sunny afternoon while roaming around mid town Manhattan. Their okra appetizer (kurkuri bhindi) was pretty good. Their sarso saag and paneer lababdar were delicious as well. Salted lassi and sweet and Salty lemonade were great combination for the table. Masala chai post lunch was enjoyed by one of family member thoroughly. Overall very delicious food and later got to know that there is a Michelin star chef behind this magic. Highly recommend to try this if you are in search of Indian food.

Excellent food, great service and equally brilliant ambience. My wife and I just walked in from the street in search of food on our 1st visit to the city. The host was gracious enough to accommodate our without a reservation and the staff was very polite. It was pleasant turn of circumstances for us that an impromptu lunch into a wonderful fine dining experience. That it happened on our wedding anniversary was just the cherry the top.
