I love this place! My favorite place to go and eat my breakfast or lunch whenever I visit NYC after I accidently found your place in 2013. My buddy and I wanted to find an authentic American diner to eat our breakfast instead of the hotel we were staying at around W 16th St. We just started walking and found your place. Love by first sight. 😊 Whenever I go to NYC I come and eat my breakfast at your place. Love the service, food, people and you seating system when its crowded. Everyone is welcome even tourists like myself that might use a bit more time at the counter because its way too much good stuff to choose from 😊 So sorry for that. My favorite is Grey Dog’s Breakfast, don’t change it 😊 Coming this April! See you then!

I have been a customer since 1999. Grey Dog serve great sandwiches, soups and coffee. Food is not complicated but is always good and quality is well above any chain restaurant in NY. Atmosphere and service have been consistently excellent. Whether you are a local, commuter or a tourist, it's definitely worth checking this place out.

The staff were soo nice!!!!!!! Had a perfect Wooden Rustic bricky NYC ambiance.. very indie kinda look. Great place for breakfast...Can get quite busy during lunch time.. reckon to come slightly before peak time to get a spot.

A very quaint spot with a lot of space and good light! They have a lot of menu options and are an excellent place to drop in for a Sunday brunch! They have a pay for your order before you eat till system which I suppose is the only annoyance as the queue can get long and once its your turn, you are pressured to place your order fast.

This place was recommended as a gluten-free-friendly place, and it was not properly mentioned how delicious the food actually is! I got a Chicken Salad Sandwich GF and it practically melted in my mouth. The service was great and I definitely recommend it!!

Very charming spot with laid back staff and good tunes. Solid coffee and great decor. Good place to zone out, grab a beer, or do some work. Have not tried the food so cannot comment, but the coffee is great.

I'm a big lover of this place. You walk in and experience right at home.

The Grey Dog is the excellent spot to come hang out, snack a bit, and maybe even grab a glass of wine with a friend. The food is delicious and I mean, it never affects to have drink specials mixed in with good food, right?

Awesome place for snacks, normally we prefer this type of foods in travelling. The price of the food according to quality is also reasonable. Thanks for this delicious and yummy food.

Good food but crazy busy for brunch on Saturdays. Prices were ok. Service was mediocre, although understandable since it was so busy. Menu included a lot of familiar, home-style food.

Awesome. The service is so-so, but you come here more for the great sandwiches, coffee and the easy going, almost small town feel of the place.

Love this!. I miss NYC and I think about this place all the time.
I used to work down the street and stopped for coffee before work and I usually had some lunch from there as well. Although the seating is a bit cramped (It's the Village, what do you expect?) it's a great environment, laid back, good music, and fun people.

I love the turkey with raspberry sandwich.

They have a Saturday night happy hour from 5 to close with half price beer and wine. Got a couple Dogfish Head pints for $3 a pop, not too shabby.

A reflection of the personality of the Villiage itself, this scruffy little coffee shop seamlessly blends urban hip with homey comfort. A great little place!

...Grey Dog is a quintessential coffeehouse. It’s the place I’d go on a late Saturday morning, New Yorker in hand, hipster glasses on face, and urban hottie on arm.

There is this old fashioned term that I just love- "peckish". It means when you are hungry but you don't even know what you want. You aren't starving or anything, you just want a little nosh. Its when you make yourself that first wonderful sandwich at 10:

I woke up the next morning not even feeling hungry. However, we had another big day of eating ahead of us! Alex took us to Grey Dog's in West Village. Mike really wanted French toast, so we ordered that. I could only stomach a bagel with peanut butter. The food was really excellent and I enjoyed the atmosphere in the small cafe. The coffee, which I got refills, was absolutely superb! Previous Category: Breakfast, Comments: 0 Comments close Comments No Comments Yet. Add Your Comments © BiteM

I have no complaints about the service; all staff were attentive and very friendly. Food portions were good but the food was okay. The beet fries were nice and crispy but salty at the bottom. The grey dog breakfast came with "home fries" but it was really just a few French fries cut into little pieces. The pancakes were okay. I would visit again and try something different on the menu.

Nice spot in NYC for some delicious comfort breakfast. Safe place to eat since they were checking all vaccination cards before dining in. Would definitely return again for a meal. We had the French toast and breakfast croissant. Thanks again for the awesome meal!

Great environment and a very friendly staff. Perfect food choices for every diets desire. You can indulge. You can be healthy. You can be happy and excited about things on the menu both as a meat eater or vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. The burger was delicious and my wife loved her crispy tofu Ceasar salad. Would definitely go back.

Stopped in after walking around the village for a while. Place was pretty much empty since they were about an hour to closing. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was good (I had the grilled chicken Reuben). Only real complaint was that the fries were too salty, but still edible. Would probably go back again.

And the size is perfect, big enough for lunch (half) and the other half for dinner 😁 I had a couple of mimosas too! Their drinks are great.

An extremely friendly and laid back place to stop by for brunch. Though the city is packed with eateries serving brunch but very few are as friendly yet good as the Grey Dog. We came late around 2 and hence wasn’t any wait time get a table. Very one from the staff, from the seating host to our multiple servers were down to earth. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Slowly enjoyed our wines and took our time to order. The BALT sandwich was the fav, crusty bread with thick juicy bacon slices along with creamy avocado and Mayo, all ingredients working well together to make a hearty sandwich. Will be back soon.
