This place caught my eye on passing a good choice I came in to have a cocktail,I did not try the food but intend to come back. The services by Jose owner,Pedro and Alexandro staff are friendly. No matter how busy the restaurant is the customer is what matters most. You walk away with a good feeling and a smile on your face (not because of the tequila and delicious Margaritas). You are greeted with a warm smile at the door that very moment you step up in El Sombrero Restaurant. Beaitiful like my name Margaret....call me Elaine🍸🙂😍Thank you for a lovely place great aura and people. Definitely recommend you will not regret coming here and the price $$ is right.
Food was so good. The appetizer of the shrimp over tostones was amazing. One of the best guacamole and the drinks were on point. The 108 Stanton was my drink. Service was fast and waiters were fun and outgoing . We're definitely going again. We were at another place up the street and walked out cuz of the cleansyness . Then we stumbled on El Sombreros. Thank God cuz it was so good.
Love the place, the environment, the music, the people, the food. Its a family friendly place. I highly recommend this place. ���

My kids band 21 kings played last night at Arlene grocery across the street.. food was very fresh and service was on point! Great Lil place to eat..
Go here at least 5 times a year. Always good service and the 🍲 is always fresh and delicious. The drinks hit the spot everytime. They change the menu every season and it's hit everytime ... great place!!!
Wow! I used to live just down the street from (the old) El Sombrero before its current owner, Junior, took over and let me tell you this classic LES Mexican joint has had an amazing new breath of life given to it. First off, the decor and ambiance are spot on - its light, breezy and fun, with wrap around windows, high ceilings and up beat Latin/island-style music playing at just the right volume. It's great for groups. While they no longer offer the old off-menu "Margarita-to-go" (apparently a not so well kept local secret), their new menu is completely revamped with innovative dishes influenced by cultures all across Latin America, as well as the staple re-styled Mexican favorites you'd expect. If you haven't tried their frozen mojito - change that. But more importantly, if you haven't tried the new El Sombrero - get down there and change that as well. ¡Salud!
The place had a Nice atmosphere a lot of Good Energy, the Food and Service were Great, the pricing was Good for Manhattan!

Great diverse Spanish food. Some standards, great innovations with a hands on owner who knows how to please his customers. Definite return!

The seafood ceviche was great, as was the chicken quesadilla's and the guacamole bowl. Perfect sized portions...not too much. The margarita was perfect, the staff pleasant....we loved it and would go back.
Loved our experience here! Great drinks (frozen mojitos were sooooo good!) and great staff! It is a place we will go back to!

Stopped in by chance on a weekend trip into the city with my boyfriend and from the minute we got in, had such an amazing experience.
The manager was so friendly and personally sat us down. All the food and drinks we had tasted so fresh.

Best part has to be the staff Specially LEO supper attentive and he listened word by word about my small request for my food since I have a few food allergies
The food was amazing. I ordered El Boricua Asado and it was great, the flavors were there. The drinks were delicious as well, I suggest the Famous Sombrero Mango Margarita. Leo was a great server as well. This is actually my first review so this says a lot!!
I absolutely love this place! The food is good and the drinks are even better. The bartender Leo is the best and super attentive and quick with making and serving our drinks. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and the vibe is positive and fun!
The BEST drinks, incredible food, and fantastic service. I come here literally once a week and the staff here is always friendly and engaging. Their empanadas are superb and always come for the classic margarita. Delicious!
My favorite local spot in the LES. Being a native here I can tell you this place has the best frozen coconut mojitos and appetizer. Pedro the server has been here for years and will take the best care of you. Late nights there’s hookah and the music is always good. A Latin dream in the LES.
