Great tasting food. Only problem was that it was a little warm in there so we were sweating for most of the meal. AC seemed to kick in more toward the end so maybe they were just having issues with the AC that day.

Really cosy place for a relaxing and comforting meal. Friendly staff as well. We both had the tonkotsu ramen which was really good and exactly what I was waiting for (the sauce was a bit too thick for my taste) . Will probably be back again this week.

It is fairly easy to find decent tonkatsu dishes around New York City, most restaurants serving Japanese food have them, and do them well. Honestly, there is not much to breading and frying a pork cutlet I suppose. But to find the best in town, go to one of two Katsu-Hama locations in Midtown. Upon entering the 47th Street location, walk past the small udon bar and into the back restaurant. The place can get packed with business lunchers, but coming after 2pm or for dinner finds the place very mellow and easy. In preparation of your katsu meal, they give you miso soup, a small portion of pickles, and a grinding bowl with sesame seeds (above) to make your own sauce with the table's portion of tonkatsu sauce (below). Prices are on the rise, but the quality still remains intact. The simplest of meals, but most authentic way to enjoy the dish, is the hire katsu ($19, below). A beautiful wedge of breaded pork that is served with a pile of cabbage, which you should

Outstanding, the Chicken Katsu Don was very good and a very large portion. The egg was done perfectly and the chicken was very tender with a perfect crunchy outside. The service was fast and couteous. I’ll definitely be returning. Water was refilled without asking and there was no wait to sit at around dinner time.

I went to the Katsu-Hama on 55th since I stayed at a hotel around that area. We went here for lunch one day and tried essentially everything on the menu. I really like the broth they use for their ramen. It's a very strong pork flavor soup that makes the experience so much better! Also had one of their signature Berkshire Pork Katsu. What amazed me was the sauce they gave you to mix yourself, I believe was sesame and katsu sauce. Add that one top of your Pork katsu and it was absolutely delicious! The place is not that pricey despite all the food that we ordered! Would definitely come again whenever I visit New York!

I like a good crusted tonkatsu every now and again, and that is exactly what you get. It's something that's hard to make at home since you need to use so much oil for the deep frying and it can be so hard to keep the right temperature too. They give you unlimited servings of cabbage too if you need something to lighten the meal up. Will come back again when I feel like a good tonkatsu again.

The name says it all -- this is a go-to for all things katsu!! While they have their "staple" menu, there is also a seasonal menu worth checking out. Katsu is always perfectly assembled. Come after 4pm and you will be rewarded with complimentary rice and cabbage slaw refills when ordering the set meal. Other non-katsu dishes include noodles and ramen.

Always wanna go back to eat Kaki Fry which is Fried Oyster, Ton Katsu which is breaded Pork and beef bowl. But for some reason the first time I went there the Oyster was delish just like I remembered and the tonkatsu was small and the next time went back they changed the Fried Oyster by making the outter part alot more fillimg than the Oyster inside which is weird texture and the Oyster got smaller. I wanna give a try again and see. It’s been half a year ago last time I went as of June 4th 2019.

This place has really good Katsu! They're pork loin is top notch and tasted amazing. Really tender and good bits of fat without being too much. They fried the Katsu to perfection. Nice and crisp without being too oily. The curry was just the right amount of spicy for Japanese curry. I ordered it with the "b set" which came with shredded cabbage and miso soup. Both really good. Their dressing is over of my favorites. A friend told me they give you free refills on soup, salad, and rice but I guess that's no longer the case? That's a real shame.

I come here during lunch for the ramen..it's pretty good. Not amazing but good. Service is good as well. Food came out pretty quick. Haven't tried their pork katsu yet but it smells really good.. Tried the curry as well and liked it.
