You'll get a warm welcome at Haveli from the lovely people who work there. It's a large, popular and attractive restaurant with an extensive and fairly traditional menu. The quality is good, the flavours nicely balanced and the best way to describe the whole experience is cosy and satisfying. It's not a daring and unusual cuisine so if you're a regular visitor to Indian restaurants, there's little that will surprise you. It's the pleasure of the familiar, served by friendly, attentive staff.
Banjara has moved it's location. Stylish, amazing creative, clean food, served with love!
I did not know Haveli and Banjara were owned by the same man! Well the lease was up at the old Banjara location so it is now located at Haveli. However good news it is the chef from Banjara!
The restaurant is clean and spacious a lot more spacious than the old location! I loved Banjara much more than Haveli and this is Banjara at the new location. But from the looks of the menu they have both Haveli and Banjara's menus combined! So that is good news for fans of both restaurants!
If you know someone who does not like Indian food bring them here! It will change their minds forever guaranteed!
Most Indian food in NYC looks and tastes the same and all looks like mush! Here at Banjara ,there is no mush just clean flavors and delicious food!
This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the US! You can not get better or even equal Indian food in the US anywhere! This is London style Indian food and you can only find this in London and NYC!
The new location is the Old Haveli and I will send in the correction to Urabspoon. The new address is 100 2nd Ave
New York, NY 10003 Today is 4/12/14
The servers were really nice from the moment we walked in. I liked the setting a lot, the decor and table setting were beautiful. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the lamb and chicken with rice and naan. The servings were perfect. By the end of our meal we were given hot towelletes to wipe our hands and free mango icecream for dessert. And the total peice was a joy! Overall the dinner was almost close to perfect!
Great service! Lamb is cooked to perfection. Pasandra lamb is one of the best meals I have ever had ($11). Afterwards we got extra rice and dribbled the sauce on it or dipped garlic naan in it. Everything is reasonably priced. Ambiance is set for a nice dinner date or friendly dinner.
Great food, good service. Delicious mango sorbet. Really nice place.
Love It!. My all time fav resturant in the City. the food is very good as well as the decor. Love their Chicken Katti Roll and the Sharabi Kababi dish. the best! Recommend it to everyone.
Reasonably Priced Good Indian and Interesting Ambience. I enjoyed this place. Everything about it was wonderful. I will tell you that the garlic nan is addictive. I came in recently for a quick bite before work and I nearly filled my stomach on the wonderful stuff together with their homemade cheese and spinach.
The place looks quite small from outside but is much more accommodating on the inside. I was introduced to the place by some Indian associates and they agree that Haveli makes it the way grandma used to make it. Very cool.
Nice authentic Indian fare. The dishes could be a bit more spicy, but they are catering to NY'ers - so they tone it down a bit. I will certainly come back to have the chef prepare it the way he likes it.
Great Indian Food. For so so many years I have loved this place. There are restaurants just around the corner on 6th st. that are great too but this place is also clean and cute and has 2 floors with a waterfall wall. Nicer, open feel- even though it is an average/small sized place. I love this restaurant and all the food they serve. I started going here when it first opened with friends from College, now I go with my own family. This is a wonderful place to dine.
Decent enough Indian. Not a terrible place at all, but certainly not the best Indian. The atmosphere here is nice, but the service is a bit apathetic (other than the bus boy, he was very nice).
I tried the shrimp dumpakht. For the uninitiated (as I was at the time), dumpakht is a brothy-curry enveloped by a pastry (think an Indian version of the chicken pot pie). The shrimp themselves were pretty sub-par, and absorbed absolutely none of the delicious dumpakht flavor. In hind-sight, I would have gone with the lamb. That said, the overall dish was a unique one and very tasty.
I also tried a few bites of the lamb palak ghost. While everything in the curry tasted fresh, it was only slightly better than average.
Very popular Indian place, everything it's very good and fresh but i would recommend to match any order with their assorted bread basket, outstanding puri!
SOOO Scrumptious !!!. I am a BIG fan of Indian Food & travel all around India for 3Months tastings foods from the North to the most Southern regions. Haveli is the most satisfying Indian Food I have come across in the city so far & am very happy with their food EVERY TIME. I get delivery about once a week or so. My husband goes crazy over it too. My personal Favorites are; Chana Chat (lovely refreshing & crunch), Banana Pakora (much, munch, munch,YUM), Bindi-Bhajee-Okra dish, Shaag Ponir-Delish homemade cheese in Spinach & the Alu Motor Gobi-mix Veg in masala, as well as Garlic Nan & must have with your meal; the Mango Chutney! I always prefer Indian totally Vegetarian, I just believe thats the way it should be eaten! I'm sure the other dishes are great too, I have the Fish occasionally which is lovely as well. Go & place your order now...soon to be in flavor, comfort food spice heaven! aaah, I just love it!
Excellent restaurant!! The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Wait staff was courteous and helpful. We had the Madras and an okra dish..they were phenom!!!
Two of the dishes, however, stood out above all the others, and are among the best foods I’ve eaten anywhere in NYC.
