Great food, nice people, low prices. Not for the finicky, though. This is clearly a local favorite.
if you want a table, don't order in line. Just sit down.
Good Food Good Atmosphere. Good food. A "real" Ironbound experience. A lot lip service is given in the press to the "cultural experience" of dining in the Ironbound. Most of that "experience" consists of sitting in thematic dining rooms that could be anywhere and trying your high school Spanish on the bus boy. Ferry St BBQ however is a real community restaurant. The food is about the same as I got in a couple of roadside charcoal pit restaurants while travelling in Portugal. Very tasty, although extremely salty. My favorite: grilled salmon.
The place is NOT dirty, but very worn from a constant volume of customers. I lived in the neighborhood and it has always been like that. It has been packed with people since the day it was opened, this pretty much guarantees the food inventory is fresh. Don't expect much in the way of "service." You order your food, you eat, the minute you get up they wipe the bare table and somebody else will be sitting before it dries. It is what it is people.
Salty but good!. Okay, I have to defend this place. The place is not dirty but worn. It deals with a very high customer volume. It uses a charcoal pit to cook on. A lot of fun to watch the guy. The charcoal and the food cooking is what you smell. Not overbearing. This place is very cheap to eat at. The food is great and fresh but very salty. You will be drinking water all day after eating this food. The ribs are tender and tasty but do not fall off the bone. The fries are excellant. Greasy, salty, and crunchy. The chicken tends to be a little dry. I love there rice. I will try the cod next. Looks very good. Gets that charcoal colored skin on it. The service is always good. Very minimal amount of english spoken.
Down and Dirty Awesome. Nothing Fancy, Tight quarters. However Good Quality. Awesome Volume and Great Price
This is very very very cool Portuguese restaurant.
The soup is tasteless but you can add salt or black pepper.
The free breads are good !
Service is good but they are too busy, so not body would guide your seat .
But !!! That’s ok !
The ribs are smoked 。 Very heavy smoked flavor!
The food is big portion and yellow rice is good .
Overall: you worth spend some time wait because the food quality is excellent!
Ps : They don't take tip on card . Please need prepare some cash
we drive an hour consistently to eat here. the best chicken around by far and great staff. antonio on the grill you can’t fail. juiciest chicken (staple item), my favorite salmon in the area, and beef ribs that are made perfectly.
Amazing! The best barbecue I’ve ever had. I got the pork ribs, but the rest of my table got either beef ribs or chicken and we all gave each other tastes of everything. Honestly , everything was great. I’m going to have to keep switching back and forth between which meat I order each time I go in the future. You also get a lot of bang for your buck, which is always awesome.
It’s a casual and laid back place, so don’t expect someone to be waiting on you hand and foot…. It’s good, fresh food in a clean place…. That’s a 10/10 for me.
This spot has been around for awhile now and I just tried it today I ordered rice and ribs. The ribs are very good not soaked in sauce which is how I like it so it's less messy. The rice was very good didn't have pieces of olives or other things in it that some other barbecue places toss in their rice. Overall love the spot would definitely recommend for anyone looking for barbecue
Really great good. Good prices. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, but like in the best way.
You might come out smelling a bit smoky and if you want ice, you need to ask for it!
I love this place here the grilled person is amazing he flips flops the grill top lol really good
