Incredible , great staff the Cook's are amazing the food is always awesome and my waitress Aubrey was the best
OMG!!! This place was amazing! I found it by accident and I'm so glad I did. The staff was so nice and the food was even better. Yes, the seating is small, but it's definitely worth the wait! I will definitely be back!!
Down home, friendly, and very fast!!!
I would 100% recommend. Much better than chain restaurants.
Never fails every time I go back home this place is as good as I remember. Highly recommend the Tamale Breakfast.
First off, in Norman there is only rating you can give THE DINER and that would be five stars! This marvelous diner is more than just a place to get something to eat, it is a integral part of our community...a tradition everyone loves. My last visit was an example of this...it was Mothers Day and every women who looked even remotely like she could be a mother, even if she was not, received a beautiful rose before they even ordered their coffee. What great people. Then, of course, is the food...think down home cooking meets Tex Mex-- black beans, tamales, and quesadillas seamlessly melted with hash browns, biscuits and gravy to make one great menu. If you are in Norman, OK you have to spend at least one morning in THE DINER.
Had breakfast here this morning! Incredible food, very friendly people, and the location is nice centered right on Main Street. I'll definitely be back for more breakfast. I think everyone should give these guy's a try!
Love this place, second time I’ve been there. Definitely a place you should go when visiting this area
Best green chili sauce in the world. The eggarita is the best breakfast. Love this place
The food was good but our server made the experience absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely be returning! Thank you for an awesome Saturday morning.
Friendly staff and great cooks makes this place one of the best in Norman!
A place so wonderful, my six year old son wants to have his next birthday party at the counter. Try The Diner classics or the Mexican menu items. It's tiny, tasty and the service is top notch!
My Husband & I go here every Saturday morning. Service & coffee are great, food is quick & delicious. The Diner brings back that small town, old times feeling! 💯👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
Loved it!! I had the tamale breakfast knowing nothing about this place and it was awesome!!
Quick service. Really enjoyed the "eggarito" with hash browns. Bigger than average portions. Had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table because the place is so small.
Also, it's very awkward trying to reach the bathroom because you have to go through the kitchen to reach it. It's also relatively small.
We had the Two Egg Breakfast and the Tamale Breakfast. The tamales were perfect and covered with scrambled eggs and a really awesome green tomatillo ranchero sauce!! We really liked the remodel that Ty Pennington did on the TV show but more tables would be nice!! Service is always very good!!
Fun quirky place. Don't ask for no onions though, everything is served exactly as described. Really good hash browns and coffee. Don't go in a group bigger than 4 though or you will be sharing a tiny booth!
BEST BREAKFAST!. My husband and I were spending the weekend in Norman, and every time we asked people where to go to breakfast, they said "THE DINER!" They were so right! We stopped by here before leaving town and the food was amazing! Good old fashioned breakfasts at small diners are pretty rare, and they managed to make us great homestyle food with very little (just the right amount of) grease. We will certainly be back next time we're in town!
On Friday night I went out with a group of friends to Das Boot Camp, which is a German restaurant in Downtown Norman and not an actual boot camp. As I was driving to meet the group, I found that the road was blocked off and there was a crowd of people in front of a restaurant further up the block, The Diner. Our dinner party found out from the waitstaff that The Diner was selected for a makeover from the new TV show, American Diner Revival . For quick reference, it’s hosted by Ty Pennington of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”. This isn’t The Diner’s first time being featured on a TV show. It’s local reputation as a beloved “greasy spoon” led it to being featured on the show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” a few years back. Curious about the changes, we went to The Diner for breakfast the following morning for their reopening. Gone are the padded walls and black and white checkered floor tiles, and in their place are rustic wood and bright colors. There are even a few new dishes that have been added to the menu that we plan to go back and try! I love the new look, as did the staff and everyone else who showed up for breakfast. Conversations centered on complements of the new design, questions about filming, and congratulations from regulars to the restaurant owners. For those who are wary of change, don’t fret; the Diner still has the classic neon lights, wall-mounted trophy fish, friendly staff, and classic American diner coffee and food. Fun fact about the wall art at the back of the restaurant: the designers originally planned for a star to be branded to represent the location in Norman (home of the OU Sooners). The staff strongly argued against it, pointing out that “Stars are a Texas thing; we are the Heartland, so it should be a heart!” After much back and forth, including threats from the staff to burn down the wall should it be decorated with a star, a heart was branded over Norman and everyone was happy. The Diner is only open for lunch and breakfast. It’s a c
So Yummy. There is nothing fancy about The Diner, but the food is really all that matters here. I have never personally had bad service, but I have seen waitresses get annoyed with hungover frat boys. Can you really blame the waitresses though? The food here is outstanding. You may have to wait a little bit for a table and you really can't fit more than a group of four unless you sit at the bar. The place is a quaintly small greasy spoon that has earned its reputation that put it on Diners Drive-ins and Dive. We always bring house guests here for breakfast if we have time. Some of the best breakfast items include the blueberry pancakes and the eggarito with homefries. The burgers are delicious and the french fries are fried in the same oil as the bacon giving them extra yummy flavor. I have never had a bad meal here. When my husband and I go to The Diner as just the two of us we try to sit at the bar so we can watch them cook the food. It is always entertaining.
I used to eat here when I was little, I now I take my kids. Absolutely love this place! Long wait, but totally worth it. I've never had a bad experience or a bad meal!
AWESOME AS ALWAYS. Have been coming to the Diner for years. As a creature of habit I always get the huevos rancheros. Yesterday the special was chile rellenos which caused me to try something different. It was excellent. Service is great, friendly and punctual.
Good food. Everything is very good. Never had a bad meal.
Awesome staff! Great old school diner menu! Even better tasting food! 100% must go!
YUM!. We go here for breakfast occasionally. There is always a wait, so we usually try to go when we aren't too hungry. We usually wait around 30 minutes, but it is well worth it. The blueberry pancakes are amazing. So is the french toast and their omelettes. If you haven't ever been, you are missing out.
All time fav!. Ate there again today for the umpteenth time. Had my bowl of chili at the counter. I add some of the ranchero sauce to mine. Love the energy, cast of characters and the service. Everything is good but better with ranchero sauce on it. Try the beef and bean burrito someday. Go before 11 or after 1 to avoid the line. Worth the wait!!
Simply Wow!. Their food is to die for. My fav is the eggarito with home fries. Love their green chile sauce. Excellent blueberry pancakes. We enjoy sitting at the counter so we can watch them cook. I have eaten here since college and it is as good as ever.
Heard about this place and finally checked it out. Awesome chilli, great burgers. Very friendly and attentive staff too! Definitely returning next time we're in Norman.
Glad we tried it. Was told about the Diner by many co-worker's. So glad that we tried it. The breakfast was great. Is a small place and we had to wait a while , but so worth it. Staff was great also.
WANT AWESOME FOOD!!! COME HERE TO EAT!!!. I dont mind waiting for a table, The food is great!!! Excellant Customer Service!!! Rita was our waitress, she was AWESOME!!! This place gives you the feel of being home. Takes me back to the good old days....=)
Best Breakfast in Norman. My wife and I eat breakfast at the Diner every Friday. Everything we've tried on the menu is great! If you really want a filling breakfast, go for one of their Mexican items. The ranchero sauce is unique and delicious. The sweet potato pancake special is a must when it's on the menu!
Awesome!. We finally got around to checking this place out over the weekend. We were very impressed! The Huevos Rancheros was delicious and really hit the craving-breakfast spot. I Love the low-key diner atmosphere, and the wait staff did a fantastic job. This has definitely been added to my list of places to go when I'm craving breakfast now.

Best breakfast food around. I would like to say the other foods here are good but I never get past ordering the scrumptious breakfasts to bother trying the lunch items. Well worth standing in line waiting for a table here.
OMG! Hooked!. My husband and I love triple D on the Foodnetwork so when they showed the Diner in Norman we had to go there. It is amazing! Reminds me of the little diners in old towns when I was a kid. The food is wonderful and the service is terrific! We have taken our kids there too and they r regulars now as well!
Signs of life for a diner. I like that it has options for breakfast beyond the typical biscuits and gravy fare. The huevos/breakfast burritos make this place a step above the average diner that it would have been without those dishes.
The best.. Absolutely the best hangover cure, heart-break fixer, stomach quencher and, oh yeah, the food tastes pretty good too! LOVE LOVE the Theta burger and the chicken burrito, but that eggarito... mmm. It's just divine. Breakfast can be packed, but for good reason, and worth the (minimal) wait! Also, if you're here during Norman Music Festival, they serve up these hot dogs with AMAZING chili. Awesome place.
Delicious!. My entire family has been eating at the Diner since it opened. Breakfast and lunch are so good, especially the burgers and chili fries. If you're in Norman, don't miss it.
Love this place.. A Norman institution and always good. My favorites are the Mushroom & Swiss Burger, Chili, and the Eggarito. The service has always been good for me. It takes a while to get your food out but that just gives you time to enjoy the charm of the place.
Reliable. Reliably diner-esque. Bad coffee, in-a-hurry service, fresh hot food, decent price.
Now accepting CREDIT CARDS. The diner does accept credit cards now! Come on in and see us! GREAT ATMOSPHERE AND OF COURSE GREAT FOOD!
Delicious. I'm automatically cynical of any restaurant Guy "Fieri" Ferry visits so it took me a while to try The Diner. Went for Sunday brunch this morning with two friends and it was outstanding. We waited for 20-30 minutes for a table as the interior is extremely small but it was worth the wait. Service was attentive and friendly. One friend had some kind of egg dish over home fries, another had a cheeseburger, I had the daily special (southwest eggs benedict). We all LOVED our dishes. I now live within walking distance so I imagine I'll return regularly.
Exactly what you would expect. Diners drive in's and dives came here to review. The chili fries are good. Pay in cash only
Need to take Credit Cards but.... Other than that awesome breakfast and lunch. Family friendly joint that really packs 'em in day after day. Chef is awesome and food is great to boot
Vegas
This place is great because they're good at the classic American breakfast and lunch, and stick to a simple menu. Eggs, hash browns, chicken fried steaks, burgers, and all the rest are here--simple, classic.
Prices are good, service is fast and friendly, and your coffee stays full.
The interior is definitely a bit dumpy, and the restroom is a concrete hole hidden in the back, but the rest fits that "American diner" motif.
Obsessed. What isn't there to love about this place. I wake up every morning wanting to eat here. The coffee is delicious! I usually get the 2x2x2, eggs, bacon & biscuits & gravy. Although you can't go wrong with anything you order. The chili is scrumptious as well. There is usually a line to eat here on the weekends, but it is well worth the wait. Old school place that will leave you with a smile :)
Line shorter in summer but always worth the wait. Delicious breakfast! I love the eggrito omelet with hash browns and a coffee. My husband prefers the home fries though. The line is shorter during the summer when the students are out of town. I often crave the Diner and recommend it for sure!
Pretty good place. Got the blueberry pancakes. They were really great. The service was good as well. Really the only thing bad about the place is that they close at 2pm.
The Diner is one of my favorite places to go in Norman! The wait is long, but worth it. The eggrito and egg quesadilla are delish. The hamburgers look good too! The only bad part is that they only take cash.
Be patient - It's worth the wait.. Popular place, so if there's a line, just hush-up and be patient!
Best omelettes. (I get it with Sausage, bell pepper and extra cheese.)
The chicken quesadilla is also very good.
Sometimes they have Southwest Eggs Benedict as a special, and it's perfectly spicy and delicious - Great with hash browns!
Service is great!
I like it because of the pancakes, however, the waitresses act like they don't care about the customer and you are not acknowledge there. 1 waitress comes over to table, no hi or hello, and say's 'what u want..okay' and turns away. Then while i'm eating another waitress walks by quickly and puts the check down, did not say if i wanted anything else, i.e napkin or dessert, or say thank you or come again. Looking for service, go somewhere else.
Excellent. I've tried a couple of times to eat here, but I've turned away because of the line. We managed to catch it at a slow moment and grabbed the only empty booth. I found the food to be very reasonably priced, the home fried potatoes were some of the best I've ever enjoyed. Portions were good sized, the waitress was friendly and effective.
Great breakfast. We can't wait to get back to visit Norman, if only to have breakfast at the Diner. I had the sweet potato pancakes (1st time ever) they were soooo goood. My husband loved the spicy omelets. We both enjoyed the old time downtown diner. We did have to wait the two times we went but would definitely do it again as apparently many others do!
Old School Diner. Old school diner up and running that taste great without all the frills. When you think breakfast or lunch this is the place!
Love it!!. The first place we ate at when we moved to Norman a few years ago!!! Love their BLT"s!!! The service is always great and I love the old fashioned atmosphere!!
Refreshing to see an old school diner up and running that dosent pretend to be something they aren't. When you think breakfast diner joint this is the place.
Best breakfast in Kansas or Oklahoma.. Pretty much perfect. They know just what to do with eggs, chiles, onions, and potatoes. Love those homefries!
It's all about the eggarito.
Great Breakfast. I've gone here for years, usually breakfast, love the omelets, eggarito,is especially good, also blueberry pancakes!! Lunch is also very good ! Great old-time burgers, can't go wrong here!
The diner is an institution.. The Diner is an institution in Norman. It's been around forever, and it shows (Environment is a little, shall we say, greasy?) The food just has a really "homemade" quality. I love the "Huevos Rancheros." On the weekend, if you're lucky there might be "Southwestern Eggs Benedict" on special. That hollandaise is the best I've had anywhere.
Long wait, good food. You can arrive early or late, but wait you must. I've always had to wait at least 15 mins to a half hour to be able to get a booth, although sometimes, if you're lucky, you may get a couple of stools at the counter - which is good because you can watch the cooks at the griddle.
Now for the food, the Diner is your standard run of the mill diner serving huge portions of artery cloggers. I cant vouch for their burgers or sandwiches, but their breakfast fare is great tasting and fresh and the waitstaff sunny and attentive. What more could you want for a weekend morning?
Now onto the negatives: First, I may be going against popular opinion here, but I do not like their blueberry pancakes - just too many blueberries for my taste. Second, I was seriously hoping that they wouldnt serve pre-frozen breakfast sausage, but they do. I would have liked them better if they ground their own meat, threw in their own spices and served up some fresh sausage, but they dont.

Mmmmm. Blueberry pancakes!. I love this place. There's usually a wait since the place is so small and popular, but it's well worth it. They has the BEST blueberry pancakes in town. Everything else I've ordered there is great too. I haven't eaten there for lunch, but the breakfast is terrific.
Plain and simple. Inexspensive and good food. Can expect to wait for a seat on weekends. Closes at 2pm.
A classic.... Your run-of-the-mill heart-of-town greasy spoon with excellent food. Unique twists on some standard dishes and good ol' build it yourself 3 egg omlettes. Best flapjacks ever. If you can get a seat you won't leave hungry... guaranteed.
Absolutely Delicious! Started the meal with a cup of chili covered in cheese and onions... Amazing! Finished off the lunch with a mushroom and Swiss burger. Top 5 burger for me!
AMERICANA. This place is the epitome of an classic diner in the heartland of the U.S. and the food is 2nd to none
YUMMY! I had this place recommended by a friend some time ago, but I don’t get to Norman very often. Yes, it is called “Diner”, not “The Diner” or anything like that. It as been on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” also. It’s right in downtown Norman. I got there about 1300 today. Every table was full, but I sat at the counter immediately. This was cool as I could watch the cooks do their thing. There were some really, really, really good looking burgers cooking there; my nose was driving me crazy, they smelled so good! On the same grill, there were pancakes, hash browns, skin-on red potatoes, eggs, bacon, and sausage, and… tamales cooking (I’m just about drooling just thinking about that again). (Wipes laptop LCD and keyboard down) I ordered tea and a bowl of chili. The tea was OK. The chili was fairly fine, no big chunks of things, but all meat! No beans there. There was a taste of onion, and maybe just a bit of black pepper, and of course chili pepper. The chili left a fine bead of swe
One of the best diners in Oklahoma, the service is great, nice people and very helpful.
The place was remodeled few years ago but still keeps that timeless charm, now the best part, the food; just great my favorite thing is the biscuits and gravy, for the longest time I thought that was a crazy idea, I’m not a fun of a saggy bread (I hope that is how you say it, English is my second language) anyways, so finally I try it and it was fabulous and it became one of my favorite things. So to my foreign friends if you reading this I know it sounds outrageous but believe me biscuits and gravy is one of the best things USA culinary has to offer.
Great atmosphere and Peter guys working were credibly welcoming and hospitable. They were great at keeping up with the table, drink refills, and making sure everything was taken care of. I think the food is pretty good overall, but I think the atmosphere is really the draw for this restaurant.
Amazing place to eat. Seriously, try out there brisket hash as a breakfast or lunch entrée. Their burgers are also to die for and the environment Nana sphere is amazing. You really get a feel for the vintage legacy this diner house. Over 100 years of serving the Norman Oklahoma community with awesome food and awesome service. Thank you guys
Good food. Lots of flavor and spice! Small diner so you may have to wait. It'll be worth the wait though. Had a tasty breakfast.
The diner is the perfect place if you want friendly atmosphere and fantastic service. The coffee is the best I've ever had! I love the tamale breakfast though it's easily enough for two. My second favorite when i want lighter fare is the skinny, it's an egg white omelette with spinach, queso fresco, avocado and Pico de Gallo. You can adjust the ingredients to your liking too. The staff remember their regulars and treat you like family when you go there. It's definitely my go to place in Norman!
Really enjoyed the food from this establishment. Only qualm was we ordered biscuits and gravy by themselves, and never received them. They were still on the bill also lol. Quickly resolved though!
Well I decided to go back and eat here again after the last we spotted a cockroach crawling up the wall back in 2018. Last two times I haven’t seen any so I’m glad. Already loved this little breakfast spot nice and cozy. Coffee is always good not to strong just a little sugar and boom perfect. Tamales with eggs n hash browns yummy biscuits n gravy is good just gravy needs a little salt for sure. I love the history knowing it over 100 years old and the previous owner one the Oklahoma chili cook off and it was featured on Triple D
