Omg! Such good Pho, I like the Pho Tom (shrimp) and my husband likes the rare beef and brisket. The spring rolls are so fresh and delicious. We just left and I can't wait to go back.

This is a mom-and-pop style place also but the food is very fresh. I like going here because it's not too pricey and you get what you pay for. The only reason I gave it 4.0 instead of 5.0 is because of its location. The area is not the best.

We go here somewhat frequently. It's hard not to. The prices are great, the service is fast, attentive, and always nice, the place is clean, and the food is always delicious! I always look forward to eating here.

It rare that I rate this quick so an update may be needed later. The food was above my expectations. The restaurant itself is not in the best location. The building is old almost like someone's house. I got take out. The staff was very friendly and helped me choose. I won't mutilate the language, so I'll say I ordered the #22 that's a good first pick

Phuong's is undoubtedly the finest Vietnamese restaurant in the Charleston area if not in the State of South Carolina.  The owners (Phuong and Dat) have operated several restaurants here and I'm very happy that their place has become as popular as it is.  This is a family run business where frequent diners are welcomed with a smile and a hug.

My favorite dish has always been the "pho tai" (western style pho) with an extra side of raw sliced beef.  I also love the Banh Xeo, which is a sort of pancake with bean sprouts, herbs, shrimp, and pork.  Phuong's does an especially great job on this dish.

It's hard to think of a dish on the menu which isn't great.  I do love Vietnamese coffee, brewed with strong French roast coffee and chicory and served with sweetened condensed milk.  I have to be honest in saying that I was very disappointed when the ceased brewing it at the table and began to make it in advance.  To be fair, this is a fairly time-consuming menu item and since it is a small operation, they had a real need to speed up service, especially at lunch.

I have also always been sorry that there seems to be no room for them to expand the size of their menu. There are numerous dishes which I would love to see added.  But this seems unlikely to happen.   As an example, I would love to see them offer Vietnamese chicken curry, especially if they could manage to offer it with Vietnamese baguettes.  Dat is after all an ex pastry chef and I'm sure he could pull it off.  Special ovens would be required.  But that would allow them to offer Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi).  There are actually numerous restaurants in the area offering banh mi.  But none of them make their own bread.

If you find yourself on Rivers Ave. in North Charleston, do yourself a favor and try Phuong's Vurietnamese Restaurant.

Awesome authentic Vietnamese!. I ordered take out from this restaurant but the smell of good food overtook me when I went in the door. I ordered spring rolls, a chicken noodle dish and pho with beef slices. All were exceptional and they sent everything with me! The only thing I would like if if they would serve a chicken broth based pho also. A very good restaurant!

Best Fried Rice. The best fried rice in Charleston SC. I come here at least once a week and get #50. My friends have tried other dishes and said they were good, but hard to top #50. I work in the area and usually come in for lunch. I'm not sure I would come here at night. It is after all in North Charleston.

This is hands down the best viet food in Charleston. The family that runs it is super nice. My wife and I used to see them when they ran the restaurant at the h & l market, but I'm happy that they found their own place. Okay, I'm gonna order some food now.my

GOOD FOOD!. I finally tried this place with my husband. Beware they are closed Mondays.
So, I had the #50 ,Vietnamese Fried Rice it was really good. Expensive but there were a lot of different meats/shrimp and things in the dish. My husband the #30, a vermicelli dish. It had hot meats and things in it too! I never thought cold vermicelli and hot meats and lettuce and other vegetables would be good together but it was! We are going back to experience more of their different but delicious food!

Best Pho in Charleston.

As a Pho-natic this is the most authentic in Charleston. The person who reviewed it as too salty is way off base. Great fresh ingredients and amazing flavor.

Good before, great now!. These folks were really good when they were in the H&L Asian Market and are even better now that they have taken over the old Raul's location. Super great people who do a fantastic job of taking care to make sure that every dish tastes great and is delivered with a smile. A new favorite!

Good Vietnamese Place. Copied the review I posted on Yelp...

Charleston has some of the best restaurants in the nation, but in a very narrow range. So Charleston being so finicky, the area can't (hasn't) supportted a large number of ethnic restaurants. But this is probably the best Vietnamese in Charleston given there are few other choices.

They have a decent selection in their menu of the classic Vietnamese dishes...Pho (soups), Bun (fresh rice noodle), spring rolls, broken rice dishes and even Vietnamese pancakes (rice flour fried with pork/shrimp/bean sprouts). All pretty tasty. The couple used to work at the Viet place attached to the grocery down the street and setup their own place (wish they opened closer to West Ashley!).

If I have any critiques are that they toned things down a bit for the Charleston tastes and maybe being on a hairstring profit margin. I love the traditional "special" Pho with the beef round, tendon, beef balls, tripe, etc (don't let it scare you...watch some Anthony Bourdain No Reservations on Travel Channel) and I wish it had more "stuff". Also, I make my own Vietnamese dipping sauce (equal parts of fish sauce, rice vinegar, lime juice, sugar...short simmer to mix...let cool...add minced garlic and hot pepper flakes...put in bottle) as their house sause for the Bun/Viet Pancakes doesn't do it for me.

But it boggles that folks will go to a Chinese buffet (which is stir fried grease with frozen meat and limp veggies), but won't try Vietnamese because they think it is some alien food. Vietnamese (and traditional Chinese) use the freshest ingredients (damn, your veggies you put in the dish come out natural...not stir fired) with little oil or no oil. The meats are fresh, not packaged. It beats getting some limp broccoli and nasty "chicken" from a pan everytime!

I hope they survive because I've seen Vietnamese places come and go in the 15 years living in Charleston. Charleston needs more good ethnic places like Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, Cajun, Filipino (unforunately, the Filipino food in Charleston has disapponted)...folks, put down the burger and try something new!

Finally more good food near work. Phuong opened up a while back and has some really good Vietnamese food to offer. Nice array of items on the menu and of course Pho. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and comfortable. Service is friendly and fast. Great food in a great location.

Excellent Pho. The new restaurant is very comfortable with plenty of parking. It has an expanded menu that retains all the same crowd pleasers: fresh spring rolls, hearty soups and salads. These are the same lovely people that originally created the Pho #1 down the street which has been under new management since their departure. Dat's superior broth is available again and in much nicer surroundings!

Phuong’s Vietnamese Restaurant is the best Vietnamese food in the Charleston area. It is pretty much a fact. As a food photographer I am fortunate to find myself eating for fun after shoots in Chicago, New York, Philly, Boston, Baltimore, etc. A food enthusiast friend of mine once told me that the best food on the planet may possibly be Vietnamese as that is where East meets West. It took me a couple years to really understand what he meant. If you think about the FOH service style in the USA it is most often French style service. Then you think about the BOH. From my understanding most kitchens are set up in a French manner. Most kitchens I have photographed in seem to uphold more French culinary traditions than anything else. So if you have French cuisine intermingling with Asia…. then the results are “fusion” without the Appleby’s and Guy Fieri attitude.

Pho #1 moved down the street to become Phuong Vietnamese Restaurant and we are so happy to have found them! We had the opportunity to eat here and the food was both authentic and delicious. Upon entering the restaurant for lunch, we found every table (with the exception of one booth) filled with patrons. The staff were courteous and polite even as they hurriedly buzzed around serving each person their made-to-order Vietnamese delights.

I was really looking for an authentic pho joint where it looks like you might get stabbed in the parking lot. This did not disappoint! (JK nobody's getting stabbed, I brought my kids. This is Charleston not Detroit) Our waiter knew the menu cold, which is funny because he was white. Food was great! The lemonade is actually limeade but was GOOD. like, best fresh lemonade we didn't make ourselves. Food was tops also. And we came in shortly before the kitchen closed but they were vv cool about it, and offered a last call. 10/10, will definitely return

It is hard to find good authentic Asian food in Charleston, especially a place that serves pho 🍲. Phuong by far is my number one option when it comes to Vietnamese food, it is not the cheapest and portions are relatively small, but the food in here rarely disappoints me, service is great as well. Would highly recommend this place for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

I slurped all the pho broth so it's definitely very good. Spring rolls need to be wrapped a little tighter so they won't easily fall apart after the first bite, but the sauce is one of the best that I had. Fried chicken strips were over cooked so they were a little tough and dry. Excellent service. Clean dining area Very nice decor.

Phở was good. Good broth, beef cuts were thin but overcooked, vegetables for phở were acceptable. One drawback is not enough meat. Kind of brought me back to eating phở in Vietnam where beef is a luxury. More meat and have the steak on the side would make this place perfect.

We had a great meal here. The food was so tasty and the service was great. Our server helped us find food that we could eat (food sensitivities). The quantity is a lot so we both had leftovers for the next day. This is now on our list of favorites in Charleston and certainly the best Vietnamese we have found here.
