The fresh seafood is great, but they also cook. Hot garlic crabs is all I'm going to tell you.
I was in Charleston, SC, for Father's Day, and I had this place in my want to go favorites in google, so I decided to try it out. It was my first time here in the afternoon. There was a small line inside. And it stinked so good inside, it smelled just like you were at the warf. Made me feel right at home when I used to get seafood back in the day. The line moved pretty quickly. I wanted some large crabs, but they only had mixed. For those of you who do not know what they mean by mixed, it means mixed sizes, not mixed males and females, and in my opinion, that means mixed small to medium. They were $36 dollars a dozen. I ordered 2 dozen steamed with mild old bay season. The guy told me that it would be 45 minutes and I could pay when I came back to get them. When I came back in exactly 45 minutes, the crabs were ready. They put the crabs in a large tin container covered in tin foil, with a brown paper bag. I like that because it holds the heat and it doesn't leak. Most of the crabs were small, but all of them were very good. I will come back when they have large crabs. I live in Charlotte, NC, where they have no good places for blue crabs. Ordering crabs and to have them shipped is expensive. So, one day soon, I will be calling to see if those large crabs come in to see if it will be worth the trip. Also, I would like to try a lot of other things on the menu. They have all kinds of seafood. They have a huge selection of fish. They also have crab legs, live large crawfish, oysters, scallops, and clams. The customer services was ok.
LOVED THE SERVICE IT WAS VERY FAST AND FRIENDLY I LOVE THE KITCHEN LADYS VERY PROFESSIONAL.. loveee Ms Mary and the two lady’s that’s in the back making the food … raw seafood is always fresh when I come and get my varieties of seafood… I lovvvee it there..
This will forever be my go-to seafood spot whenever I come home from Charlotte. The crabs are always live so I never have to worry about getting sick from dead crabs. The staff is always friendly and I'm usually in and out in 10 minutes and less.
They have a variety of fresh seafood that I also like to stock up on when I'm here.
I recommend Marvins for anyone looking for consistently fresh seafood.
Long line (attesting to the freshness of the seafood). Although they were packed, the staff was super friendly and quick. Was out of the store in 10 minutes after placing a large order. Will be going here from now on for all my seafood needs!
Driving by Martin's yesterday my mom and I automatically added it to our list of spots to stop at. And we are so glad that we did! Marvin's is not the largest or prettiest spot, but it has amazing things going on inside. Upon walking in you are greeted by the scent of the sea. To the left is a line of people waiting for fresh seafood and to the right a line waiting for prepared fish and other items. My mom and I got in the prepared food line. She got the fish plate with rice and green beans and I got a side of green beans, a crab cake, and a hushpuppies. Everything was so good! The fish was fresh, green beans were pipping hot, and the hushpuppies were thick and warm! I wish I would have ordered a larger size of green beans as they were so good. The crab cake was thick and warm as well--the stuffing, omg!! I am sad that their kitchen is closed tomorrow
The staff is also very nice as well. They are happy to answer questions and make the ordering process so easy!
While waiting for our food I hopped in the fresh fish line. Unbeatable prices! I got a half a pound of scallops and a half pound of jumbo shrimp, cost me less than $10!
A must go to when in Charleston!! Put this on your list now!
As always, they were on point. I got crabs and oysters for me and the crew. They're normally busy (cause dem boi crab n fush be rite), but it was pretty easy in and out...and don't forget about that Slap Ya Mama seasoning. Gwan ova there and get some of the freshest seafood lessen if ya gettin em skraight out da wata.
Today was my first visit to Marvin's Seafood. While I waited for my cooked fish and shrimp combo, I had a few childhood flashbacks. Live crabs, fresh fish, claims, oysters, etc..!
