Enjoyed dining here two nights in a row - appetizers first night with a wild game sampler which was awesome then the next night enjoyed the walleye - what a treat! Great atmosphere I will come back on next visit to the Motor City!
Good but not consistent.. Came with a group of 9 so I will give that as a handicap.
My buffalo burger was good. The wife's Rodeo Melt was "gross" and that was the consensus from all in the group that ordered that. It's suppose to be prime rib steak meat, but ended up being tasteless roast beef. Two people got the traverse city chicken burger and that was proclaimed to be great. The onion rings were yummy and the seasoned fries were good. The Bloody Moose was thin but ok, but nothing to write home about. But I'd give this place another shot with a smaller group or just the wife. The service was good and attentive.
There are three things I look at in judging a restaurant. Food, service and atmosphere. Deadwood has all three perfected.
Lots of good things to talk about but I'll focus on the food. You can get game here. And they actually prepare it perfectly. If you're looking to be a little adventurous in your meals, this is a perfect place to try things other than chicken or beef. They also have the normal American burgers and stuff if you're with someone who is turned off by rabbit, bore, and deer.
Bottom line, eat here. And eat well friends :)
Totally Different Experience. I went on Valentines day to Deadwood and had a comp[letely different experience than the diner below.
First I thought that they did a good job decorating, the restaurant is lovely most nights anyhoo, so they didn't do much different.
I also had the pine nut encrusted salmon with Ginger carrots and Potatoes with the Chocolate Mousse for dessert. (They also gave us free cookies). I thought the salmon was great, when I read pine nuts, I automatically think pesto, so maybe I wasn't as surprised as the diner below. The portion was on the small side, but with the carrots it was fine. I agree the potaoes were kinda gross, in fact, I only ate one.
The fried oyster appetizer was awesome as well as the duck tenders.
Due to the free cookies, we got our dessert to go...and sampled the mousse later, but it was AWESOME! I loved it.
So I had a completely different experience than the last diner...
GREAT!. I'd been wanting to try it and finally had the chance to on a summer Saturday night. The server was fantastic and recommended DELICIOUS stuff. She recommended a green drink they had (maybe Green Monster or something) and said it was like a "vacation in a glass". It was AMAZING! The patio was cozy and relaxing, people aren't rowdy, service is great, and the food is different and delicious. I recommend it and look forward to going back!
Great food. Great steaks and fish here. Like their other restaurants (Moose Reserve, Camp Ti) they feature venison and buffalo meat and other leaner options which is great. I had the all you can eat fish and mac and cheese. My goodness was it good. Very tasty.
Tatonka. Amazing. If you are a hunter/outdoor person you will enjoy this place. I had the buffaloaf melt which is their homemade buffalo meatloaf grilled on rye bread with pepperjack cheese and fresh red onion slices preceded by a tasty bowl of venison chili. I will be heading back to explore the variety of dish offerings.
Whoever says that there is something wrong with deadwood is messed up. I love this restaurant. The food is good and it is great for hanging out with friends. I love deadwood.
Fun place, good food. Tried this place on a whim and will definitely be coming back. Had gread service, prices are reasonable, and the food was good. We had walleye nuggets and the creek fries for appetizers - not so healthy but were very tasty. Neither dish was greasy. The french onion soup had great flavor - it could have been warmer, but it was still very good. The desserts are huge and delicious. We'll be coming back to try other things on the menu.

Come for the decor, stay for the Buffaloaf. So, the food here is good and everything and so is the service. But the reason I keep coming back to the Deadwood is this: at any given second I would not be surprised to see Gaston from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" burst through the door. Even the light fixtures are taxidermy! "I use antlers in all of my deeeeeeecoraaating!"
Simply fabulous!. It is independently owned but in the same family of Camp Ti in Troy and Moose Preserve in Bloomfield Hills. Everything is great here. Our dogs love their dog bones. We make sure we get one every time we go. The food is amazing (try the buffalo meatballs!) I had the Monterrey Chicken last time I was there based on our waitress' recommendation and it did not disappoint at all! She was great, though now her name escapes me, but the service is always excellent. We'll be back many times over!
Great service, very authentic ambiance. Quickly became one of my favorite locations to enjoy with friends. Food (I tried steak and ribs) is delicious too.
