Gotta chance to talk with uncle D himself! I’m glad to see a fellow southerner up here in Connecticut! Awesome guy with some awesome food! Got the Pork Mack attack…. Was damn good! Just like we make it down in Texas! Really took me home! 10/10 the best BBQ in Connecticut!
This restaurant posed a dilemma for me. The food was excellent. The sides were terrific. The only disappointment was that the meat tasted like it was cooked in the oven rather than over a wood fire. It was fall off the bone done, but I really like my BBQ smoked. I had the half rack with collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes. Tasty! I think if you were born and raised in New England this will be a five star BBQ restaurant for you. It is far better than any chain BBQ I've ever had. But it isn't quite up to real southern BBQ standards.
Plenty of seating on a nice cool day. Sweet yes is flavorful and smooth just like in Texas. Brisket is good. I like mine with lots of fat but they do not have burnt end. Spare ribs were most, lots of meat fat feel of the bone. Easy to get too but watch it for Ct drivers when pulling in they are right up your trunk and might rear end you. They leave no room for error. No wonder so many have accidents
I rarely eat BBQ. While out of town I ended up here because it was close. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. I asked to have cole slaw in there too. Makes it interesting. I had a side of the potato salad too. Friendly staff. Plenty of seats outside and a few inside. Really glad I stopped by for lunch.
This is a Covid 19 review. Uncle D’s is a great choice for bbq. We ordered a pound of the pulled chicken and a pound of the brisket, each with their own sauce on the side. I wish they had more sauces to offer but I can not complain. For the price of the food, I thought we received a good quantity. The flavor was good and a place we will order from again.
I am absolutely stunned at the food in this place!!!! I had the pulled pork sandwich and pork mac and cheese and could have easily died and gone to heaven!!!!!!@@!@@@!!!!!!@@ i turned on mytv and got my food to watch the news and this place just consumed me!!!! Wow!!! Absolutely incredible!!!! I can say enough!!!! I can't believe I've been driving by this place and not stopping by!!!!!

It's a tiny joint with awkward seating during the colder months. We had the beef brisket & pulled pork each with the Jerk flavor & Mustard, the BBQ beans, Mac & Cheese, & Cajun Slaw.
The beef brisket & pulled pork, sooo good! Tender & really good flavor. BBQ beans - genius. Mac & cheese - you pay extra for it, but really good! Cajun Slaw - a little bland & told that to the staff there.
For someone who can't eat BBQ, the mustard flavor settles well on the stomach. Gretchen & Ray - very personable & made already great food taste better! Love them!!!
Can't wait to go back anytime & definitely next year for the nice weather & sit on the patio!
They even use a delivery service that goes out to New London from Norwich for only 15% of the total cost.
Food is great! Most authentic southern flavor I've had since leaving Virginia...other than the clearly from Connecticut customer service I received. (I gave her a pretty Connecticut attitude though) - a little overpriced. 21 bucks for lunch was steep 💔
This is a small BBQ shack with little indoor seating, but plenty of seats on the covered outdoor patio. Located right off the highway there is plenty of parking and is easy to find. Also, the food is very very good. I enjoyed chopped brisket, ribs, and chicken and found them all phenomenal. The cornbread was also moist, cakey, and a little sweet. A good compliment to the smokey meats.
Went to their Food Truck at an event, best sandwich ever! Highly recommend
Uncle D's food truck is southern BBQ on the go. Since it's mobile, there isn't a huge menu but there is still a variety of choices. The staff was friendly and in spite of a line to order, the food came out quickly.
I love this place, the service here is fast and friendly. A good place to bring the family or the perfect food to bring home wen you dont feel like cooking at home. The meat quality is far beyone my expectations, over all a well deserved 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.
And if you are just pasing by stop you will not regret it.
Everything we ordered was great. The Mac and cheese with pulled pork was awesome. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich as well. My mom loved the baked beans. A nice gem in norwich and we will definitely order again.
Second visit to this restaurant. Uncle D is a class act, he runs a wonderful establishment with wonderful people. The food was delicious and consistent with the 1st time. You will be pleasantly surprised with this little needle in the haystack. From the delicious, fall off the bone ribs to the southern style chicken, this place has no competition dor miles and miles. Hope you enjoy it as much as our family.

Vegetarian? No problem! There are SO MANY things to choose from, and all are amazingly delicious. You could not possibly try all the non-meat items in one day. Everything is the best! Jag rice & beans, Cajun fries, blazing fries, cornbread, corn nuggets, Mac and cheese, fried pickles and sauce are all superb. And the sweet tea! I would go just for that. Staff is super helpful and friendly, always cleaning and making sure your experience is excellent. I can't wait to come back.
