Excellent BBQ! Stopped here passing through and boy I’m glad I did! Perfectly cooked with mild and delicious smokiness. Their sauces are phenomenal and the portions are huge. Lunch was cheap and VERY filling! Service was fantastic! We will definitely returning when in the Ocala area!

A very nice place. We stopped after going by it over 50 times. My husband and I were very happy and pleasantly surprised. It was so good we took a friend from church with and he loved it as well. On your way out is a soft serve ice cream machine to make your own cone for the road. My husband loves that.

Food is usually very good, never bad, sometimes not as good as others. Service is always friendly and quick. Free Ice cream cone is always a plus! My only real negative is that it is a barbeque restaurant, and they serve imitation bacon bits (fakeon) on the salad bar. Seems like a pork and beef place should have Real Bacon for the salad bar.

This place is new and very clean. Plenty of parking, private parking lot. Inside the place is huge. The food was average barbecue. The sweet tea was average as well. The service was average to above average. The price was kinda high for what you get. The menu has everything you would expect. I recommend this place and I would try it again in the future. Also you have to bring your check to the front to cash out.

I went to church at the river which is across the Street. Anyway someone had invited me out to lunch afterwards with another group of. So I went to lunch. The food was to die for you have got to try this food. I highly recommend this place to anyone. This was my first visit to this restaurant and I give you above and beyond 5 stars but they only allow me to give you five. Our waitress Sam she was a bright spot on this visit. She has so many good qualities as an employee as I'm sure you have seen seeing as you are her employer. She made my stay at your restaurant a memorable. Not only was she very polite and attentive to our needs. She always held a smile and that my friend is one of the greatest qualities. Every single one of us enjoyed every bit of food that we had. My props to the Cook and to those who helped him or her. And the free ice cream cone to top it all off was the cherry on top of the cake. Thank you for the wonderful experience I had in my friends had in your restaurant today. I will definitely be back in your restaurant and will recommended to other people that I come across in my travels.

Food was fantastic, but the meat was all served cold... still fantastic! The sides.. fantastic! The Mac n chz was fire, but the greenbeans were out of this world. I love the pepper broth it was amazing with the smokiness! Overall very pleased. We were out that way and I knew a local BBQ place was going to be a wise decision.

Sonny's vs Southern Pig and Cattle What happened to Sonny's? Check your to-go order before you leave! I have been going to Sonny's BBQ in Florida since 1994. Around 2015 I stopped going to Sonny's as I felt the quality of the BBQ had severely diminished. The food did not taste or look home cooked anymore, the food looked and tasted more commercialized. The quality fell to the level of Golden Coral buffet food. Then I discovered Southern Pig & Cattle Co. on Maricamp in 2020, and I was again, back to tasting wonderful BBQ food. Recently I decided to give Sonny's another go to compare the two. I noticed in recent years the Sonny's franchise has revamped their restaurants, their logo and branding etc. Is it possible I have caught the Sonny's restaurant on a bad night? The food was sub-standard. It was a Sat night 9pm and they close at 9:30pm. Let me begin with what I ordered. Baby back rib dinner with fries and coleslaw, dry texas toast. Chicken tender dinner with fries and bbq beans, dry texas toast. Big deal sliced pork on a bun with mac n cheese, and a large sweet tea. Ordered and paid using the drive thru, Silver Springs BLVD Ocala FL. I was never asked what sauce I wanted. So I asked for an assortment including the mustard sauce. So when I arrive home. No coleslaw. The chicken tenders were extremely dry as if they were deep-fried twice, or sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Texas toast is now a slice of thin french bread? No assortment of sauce, I only got sweet sauce. The ribs were not tender at all. The ribs were tough as if they were not cooked very long. I know this sounds hard to believe but they were very hard to pull the ribs apart. The ribs were not basted and wet in sauce, at all. (See the photo of the ribs) I called and spoke to Lauren about my missing coleslaw and she said to come in the next time I visit to get my coleslaw. She said they are closing for the night as it was 9:30pm. I almost want to return the un-eaten food tomorrow. Let them see the ribs, they are tough and like rubber. the last issue is why does take-out food always skimp on the french fries? 10 french fries for each order? Really? The price may be high, but it's expected as gas is $5 a gallon now too. So inflation, I get it and I am okay with it. But what about getting what I paid for? I am in no way affiliated with the Southern Pig & Cattle Co., I certainly think you should give them a try, and compare them to Sonny's yourself.
