#1 tasty Mexican comfort food, #2 24 hour drive through, #3 these places are all over town, #4 affordable prices. All this adds up to a hit in my book. Try the fish tacos and super fries. Don’t expect a fancy dining room and 5-star service.
Soul Food! Have been a fan of Abelardo's for a few years now. Was excited when this place opened out west. This food is excellent (I always get the No.16 combination plate) and addictive! Good range of salsas to accompany the explosion of flavors!
When it was Alvarado's I would have given it a 5, but now it is still a strong 4.5. The portions are still huge and the quality for a fast food place is unbelievable. Some of my favorites are the breakfast burritos, fish tacos, super nachos and their churros. I usually go inside to order because I have had problems going through the drive through before. Even though they gave me the wrong order 4 times, I really liked what they gave me anyway. The inside eating area is very small so large groups would not work. I can honestly say, that just like the name change, nothing has changed much here. It is still one of my favorite Mexican places to go to. It really beats the heck out of Taco Bell or Taco Johns.
Affordable and delicious!. We have eaten here for several years, and its always delicious. The restaurant is an old taco bell, and shows its age, however the food shines! If your looking for atmosphere this is not your spot. If your looking for fantastic food at a good price you can't miss here!
I like the new menu and the new habanero sauce. I like the new menu. It seems less confusing and condensed which should make them faster at pumping out food. I especially like the fact that they now have a habanero sauce. Whoever thought of that was spot on because I always thought that their lack of a very hot sauce was annoying. Last time there I had the Americanized crunchy tacos which were delicious and still crunchy after being put together for over 20 minutes instead of getting soggy like other tacos in the city. Both times I went they remained crunchy. I will be back again to get some authenic Mexican like a lengua taco or cabeza burrito. I think they are the best Mexican not in south Omaha but some places in South Omaha I would put a step ahead. Definitely worth a stop in if you do not want o drive far for a good Mexican meal.
Went back last week 7/19/14 and they stopped serving the habanero hot sauce. Why just a temporary improvement?

Awesome food and friendly staff. Love stopping here on the way home to feed my family I have a hard time trying new things because my carnitas burrito is so good but so is everything on the menu. I hope this place succeeds! They sure are working hard at it! ( 180 and pacific location)
A popular after bar spot. Everyone wants a good abelardos breakfast burrito after a night on the town. I'v been going here since it was called, and I still do, "Alvarados". I will say that since I started, prices have gone up, and their bacon burritos have been robbed of some of their better ingredients, to save money no doubt with potatoes in place instead. However, I will say I have never been disappointed by the food. I always recommend the bacon egg burrito, but everything else, has been great. Try the half super nachos. The have everything on them and are something else. Ask for more hot sauce when you go. It is great stuff.
This was our 1st visit to Abelardos & it was delicious! Breakfast burritos were huge & pico de gallo was great. Also enjoyed carrot/onion marinated side dish. Very reasonable prices! We will be back soon.

This place is really good -- the quesadillas and breakfast burritos are delicious. However, the drive thru is always SUPER SUPER slow. No matter what time of day. You can tell the items are fresh, so that could have something to do with it, but still, it's a bit frustrating but it doesn't stop me from returning.
So good!. This place is so good. I had shrimp tacos and they gave me way too much food. I also had a "barbarian cream" filled churro. Delicious and awesome! XD I hope they never fix their menu board.

Good. If you are up late and in need for some good Mexican food this is the place to go. Been to similar places around the area, I think they have the best here. Its not squeaky clean, but it doesnt stop me.
My goodness. We live so close that we are there all the time. My favorites, beef tacos, chicken enchiladas, and any of their burritos. Cheap and addictingly good!
Fantastic Food for Criminally Cheap. I finally just made it over there tonight after wanting to for a while, and the food did not disappoint! It was great from the "ground" up. That is, even one of the most basic things to start a dish with, the ground beef, was delicious! The portions are more than generous, for nearly Taco Bell prices; but oh, is it so much more delicious and authentic! Our cheese wasn't fully melted on anything tonight, but even with that downfall, I came away really liking this place. The staff was also friendly, helpful, and accommodating. And there was a free salsa bar, so order some chips! Surprisingly, this little, local, delicious place both is open 24/7, and has a drive through window. I will be back.
Best Mexican in town! Cheap & delicious!! The name changed but the food is still excellent.
Cheap and good. The Alvarados in Bellevue closed over a year ago, and I miss it. Really good food at really cheap prices. There also used to be one in La Vista, but it closed several years back. This is the only location still going that I know of.
My favourites are the carnitas and pollo asado. Love the rice and beans as well. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu, and, except for the green chili, liked everything. Great late night, after-bar food.
Great food, great value. I am from Omaha, but had never eaten here before. I read some good reviews and my dad and I decided to give it a try. The place is not much for atmosphere, being in an old building that was built for a popular "Mexican" fast food chain, but it more than makes up for it in the food. I had the adobada plate- a huge mound of seasoned meat on top of beans, rice, guacamole, and pico de gallo with some shredded iceberg lettuce and a big flour tortilla on the side. My dad had an enchilada/taco plate with chicken for his choice of meat. We both cleaned our plates when really we could have gotten two meals out it! I'll go back for sure. My dad? I think he had a problem with the tired feel of the dining area.

Good 24 hour Mexican but.... I love going to this place after bar hours in the Old Market. I love the tacos and churros. There is also a variety of basic Mexican food. The place is open 24/7 with a drive-thru.
Portions are good and you can get a lot of food for under $10. The main negative with this place is the lack of cleanliness in the store. The food there is good enough for me to ignore this issue, but you may be a little turned off by the upkeep.
This place doesn't fall into the luxury Mexican dining found elsewhere, but it's a good place for "drunk food". Alvarados is essentially a bona fide fast food Mexican place that is a huge step up from the Americanized Taco Bell drivel, but not someplace to go on a date or family dinner.
Can I just start by saying I have gone to this location several times and order at least $60 worth of food each time, and I never reviewed it because I was waiting to receive food of quality that should be the standard. I WANTED TO GIVE THEM ONE MORE CHANCE AND I FINALLY GOT WHAT I KNEW THEY WERE CAPABLE OF!!! We got super fries again and a chicken burrito, the Birria tacos and carne sada tacos. All were great!! The flavors burst in your mouth, it’s fresh and I am literally in heaven!! WHOEVER WAS THERE TODAY WAS AMAZINGGGGG!
Abelardo's is always a go-to spot for me. Their Queso taco is absolutely delicious and never disappoints. It's definitely a crowd-pleaser! 🌮👌🏾
Ive been here twice and the food has been good each time with lots to choose from. The service is prompt and friendly. The inside is very colorful decorated with vintage Hispanic imagery. Nice place

Great small restaurant to checkout. The price you pay for the food is crazy good because they pack your plate. The only downfall is that they didn't have ac. They do have drive-thru, though. I had got the carnitas dinner, which was good. The steak taco was good. We had plenty of leftovers to take home.

Drove through good service but disappointed with the pico de gallo. I ordered a large bowl for a party It was approximately 90% onions. I added a few tomatoes but it was overwhelming FYI if you order the hot salsa IT IS HOT! 🔥.
It was real late after work and nothing else was open. Gave this place a go, regardless of the heavily mixed reviews. I really enjoyed the meal. Had the California burrito and a steak taco. Prices were affordable and the food was great. Still warm after the 20 minute drive to the hotel and tasted fresh. Also really enjoyed their red hot sauce.
I literally eat here like every other day. I always get the chicken burrito with no lettuce and it's bomb. I've been to all of them in Omaha but this one is by far the best

I usually come here to get tacos. Today I decided to order the Menudo. Mr. Abelardo made it, and can I say he put a lot of love into making the menudo.. I highly recommend it. So if you want some good Menudo, come to 90th Maple.
