From the moment we walked into Boatwright's Dining Hall at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort, we knew we would enjoy it. The atmosphere gives you the feeling of being in a cozy Southern eatery, with its boatmaking decor and warm lighting setting the perfect stage for an exceptional dining experience. Our server, Christine, was the star of the evening. Her attentive, friendly service was excellent, making us feel like the most important guests in the room. She easily navigated our dining preferences and suggested the best dishes we all enjoyed. Every course was a culinary adventure, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors that pay homage to Southern cuisine. The dessert, a delectable creation, was the cherry on top of a memorable meal. It's not just a dinner when you dine at Boatwright's; it's a dining event you'll want to experience again and again. Five stars aren't enough to capture the magic of this place!
Great casual dining spot! The food was really good and the star of the show was the cornbread and sweet butter. The dining room is decorated lovely and has a lot of theming. We had a relaxed service that took about an hour and a half at the busy time which was perfect for us. The salmon was our favorite meal - so juicy! We will be back!
Not too bad compared to other restaurants on property. If you’re staying in Port Orleans, it’s recommended to check this place out. This restaurant had the setting of a boat warehouse, and has a real fireplace! The service was very friendly and took care of everything.
The food is fine, some dishes are good and some are not. The best thing is the free cornbread, and the ribs & sausage are good. However, the chicken & Mardi Gras fritters were sadly a miss. Overall, it’s nothing special, but still okay.
I wanted to try this one since a long time. And unexpectedly it came up on top of my chart as one of the best restaurant in the resort. We spent the dinner time here. I love southwest cuisine, especially shrimp and grits, which I highly recommend. We had also some appetizer and a dessert. (Banana foster bread was just delicious!) Go there, have a great experience. Super nice and kind server too, Martez was friendly and attentive. Will be back!
Boatwright's Dining Hall was amazing!
My husband and I love cajun food, but the restaurant was really out of our way and we didn't have reservations, but took our chances since reservations were not required .
There wasn't really anything on the menu that I thought my daughter would love so we got her a snack on the way. We traveled by train, a bus, a boat and a nice long walk to get there and I'd do it all again!
From the moment we walked in we were greeted with the most welcoming, friendly smiles. Our wait was less than ten minutes!
Our server, Kerri, was a true angel in disguise. I love her personality. She was knowledgeable and made great suggestions.
I was pleasantly surprised that they did serve chicken tenders and fries for my picky 6 year old even though it's not on the actual menu. She actually ate more at Boatwright's than I've seen her eat in a very long time. She even loved the cornbread that was served when we first got there.
The cornbread was a treat in itself..
For an appetizer we chose the Boudin balls and **chef's kiss**💋 They were amazing. They were so flavorful!
My cocktail of choice was the Big Easy Whiskey Sour.
The crispy cajun chicken, red beans and rice, and mashed potatoes were all wonderful, and the serving was way more than enough.
My husband loved his Jambalaya.
It was also nice that they had coloring and puzzle activities to keep small children occupied.
Boatwright's is a great family-friendly establishment that's definitely worth a visit.
A recent dining experience at Boatwright's Dining Hall in Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside proved to be a delightful experience. From the moment I stepped into this charming establishment, I was greeted by a comforting ambiance that set the tone for a memorable meal. The combination of classic comfort foods and innovative flavors showcased the chef's expertise. With French Onion Soup Au Gratin as a delightful start and the Deep South Shrimp and Grits as the enticing main course.
To begin the culinary exploration, I opted for the timeless classic - French Onion Soup Au Gratin. This dish, often considered the epitome of comfort food, did not disappoint. The rich and flavorful broth was a testament to the chef's skill in balancing savory notes. The melted cheese atop the soup formed a tantalizing blanket that pulled apart with the perfect amount of resistance. Each spoonful was a journey of warmth and familiarity, reminding me of the simple pleasures that comfort food can bring.
As the main course arrived, I was treated to the Deep South Shrimp and Grits. The dish was a harmonious fusion of flavors that celebrated the essence of Southern cuisine. The shrimp, succulent and perfectly cooked, were a testament to the quality of ingredients. The addition of sausage in the cream sauce introduced a delightful kick that added layers of complexity to each bite. The marriage of textures and flavors was a revelation, showcasing the creativity of the culinary team at Boatwright's Dining Hall.
To accompany my meal, I enjoyed the Antioxidant Lemonade, a refreshing and innovative beverage choice. The combination of Van Gogh Acai Blueberry Vodka, Lemonade, and Pomegranate Juice was a burst of fruity and tart flavors. Topped with Sprite, the drink provided a pleasant effervescence that balanced the richness of the meal. It was a testament to the thought put into crafting a comprehensive dining experience.
This is really your only option for better quality food at the Port Orleans resort since everything else is quick service, lounges, or pool bars. That said, the food was quite good and there are a variety of options that fit the southern New Orleans theme of the resort. If you're staying at this resort, I would definitely recommend going here for dinner. If you're visiting elsewhere in Disney World, it's debatable if it would be worth going out of your way for unless there was something specific on their menu you were looking for. They do take reservations and walk up, so that could give you some flexibility in your plans as well. Our only downsides were that they were slower than we would have expected with service all around, but they were busy. Also, the acoustics aren't great in this space since it is fairly open and being busy, it was quite loud at times.
Really good place to get Cajun food at Disney. I had the shrimp and grits, and some of the fried pimento cheese. Both were quite good.
The complimentary corn bread with honey butter was absolutely amazing!! The deep south Shrimp and Grits was fantastic!! Great service as well! Make sure you make a reservation:)
Been coming here for years and it always delivers. The cornbread they give you falls apart in your mouth. The shrimp and grits it by far my favorite on their menu. Wonderful flavor and just the right portion.
Food here was absolutely a lot better than I was expecting for no reason at all. The cheese fritters were to die for and the red beans and rice were extremely flavorful. The server was extremely nice, my only gripe is that our drinks were empty for a large majority of the time. Other than that no issues.
Food was delicious especially for a Disney property restaurant. Most of the resort restaurants are only just okay for sustaining life. But, this place is actually delightful and the food was not over salted. Food was definitely worth the price.
We enjoyed the "Taste of the Bayou" and the "Blackened Prime Rib"! The flavor on the prime rib was not too overbearing but it had some amazing pizzazz and subtle lingering melodies on your tongue.
The corn bread was cooked to perfection and the softened butter was actually soft and delicious.
We will eat here again soon.
What a fantastic dinning experience we had at Boatwrights at Disney Port Orleans! The staff is all so friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely amazing. So much better than we could’ve imagined. Everything is pretty much Cajun infused which we absolutely loved! All the food tasted fresh and delicious. Sometimes Disney restaurants are hidden mess but this restaurant is right on target. Our family also got to experience the horse and buggy ride. And which was so fun for our whole family especially our kids. It made them feel as if they were Cinderella themselves. Our horse Phil was the sweetest and obviously very well trained. If you only eat at one Disney property restaurant on your trip, please make a Boatwrights the food, atmosphere, service cannot be replaced. 10 out of 10 we highly recommend.
Louisiana-style dining at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. Warm welcoming ambiance and super delicious food! Take a stroll around the beautiful resort grounds or ridge the horse carriage!
What we ate:
🌶️Crispy Cajun Chicken
🌶️Blackened Salmon
🌶️Deep South Shrimp and Grits
Finished dinner with a phenomenal peach & blackberry cobbler!
✨The Complimentary cornbread with honey butter is perfection ✨
Solid choice. Good food, plenty of it. Pictured is the Taste of the Bayou-All You Care To Enjoy: Hickory-smoked Pork Ribs, Crispy Cajun Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Barbecued Beef Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Roasted Corn with Cajun Butter, and Seasonal Vegetables
Food was great ! I had shrimp and grits and my fiance had the boil. My daughter had pasta of which she ate none due to eating way too much delicious cornbread. Get the fritters!!! The atmosphere fits right in at this charming resort. I will definitely visit again!
This was our first visit here and we'll absolutely be back! The shrimp and grits were amazing. Creamy grits flavored just right and cooked perfectly. The shrimp and andouille sausage were delicious in the creamy grits. The jambalaya was also full of flavor. If you're staying at Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter, this is a must. It's worth the trip even if you're not staying here.
