On the border is the perfect place for Mexican food lovers.
The staff is courteous and friendly.
To start with, they serve Complimentary Mexican chips.
We ordered
three cheese fajita burrito : It was delicious. It was really filling. It was served with rice and kidney beans.
Cheese nachos : The quantity was good. The nachos were crispy and cheesy. It had kidney beans, jalapeno, peppers, carrots and lots of veggies.
Quesadillas : These were really good.
This place is your best bet for a filling meal and drinks in Terminal A. I like a strong drink or two with my airport meals, and this place fit the bill. I had the citrus margaritas, shaken and poured at my table. Cold and refreshing! The grilled enchiladas were crispy and greasy. Perfect accompaniment to the margaritas.
Service was casual, friendly, and fast. My food and drinks both arrived really quickly. A smile and a drink were exactly what I needed, and this place delivered.
The people complaining about service need to take a chill pill. This is an airport version of a chain restaurant. This isn't gourmet Mexican food served on a white tablecloth with locally sourced avocados farmed using sustainable techniques. Everyone who eats here is traveling. At an airport. In Orlando. What do you expect? Take a chill pill (and chase it down with one of their delicious margaritas!).
Not bad at all for Airport food. The chips and salsa were great- salsa tasted absolutely fresh. I orders the fish tacos- that was just acceptable level, nothing great. The wait staff seem to be efficient, kitchen messed up. It took them more than 25 minutes to get my order out. Not a good sign for a joint at an airport...
Unexpectedly good .... Who expects much from an international airport restaurant -- with those high rents and staff turnovers -- to be good? With that in mind, On The Border Mexican Grill Cantina in the Orlando International Airport's Terminal A departure lounge is as good as any of the upmarket franchises operating in the burbs.
The bar counter was clean and although the room was crowded and busy the service was prompt and friendly. I had the steak fajita which was tasty and tender -- certainly not tough and overcooked as I might have expected. I had 45 minutes to kill but I was done in 30, so if you're short on time you may find time enough to catch a decent meal here before boarding a flight where the snacks and drinks might cost you more.
A Pleasant Surprise!. When traveling, I usually never have time to eat at a sit down restaurant in an airport. But, this time my flight was delayed, so I headed for On the Border. What a pleasant surprise!
The complimentary chips and salsa were perfect. The salsa was the prefect consistency and had the perfect kick. I started out with the Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5.99). This was one of the best bowls of soup I have had anywhere! It was served piping hot, it was huge, and it had the perfect amount of slow-cooked pulled chicken, rice, vegetables, tortilla strips, and fresh avocado. I loved it! For my entree, I ordered the Pick Two Combo ($11.99). I chose a seasoned beef hard taco and a seasoned beef enchilada. It was served with rice and refried beans. The entire meal was flavorful, delicious, and very filling!
The young male server was nice and made sure my meal came out quickly. I definitely want to try other On the Border locations now. This On the Border is located at Orlando International Airport Airside 1 Hub (Gates 1-29).
Food was ok, wish it could've been a little bit better.
Drinks and service were on point that's why it gets a 4 star. They do serve a lot for your money. I mean it's airport food so what else could you expect lol.
Our server was checking on us which was nice because the restaurant was packed.
On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina in the MCO airport is a lemon limeade of refreshment.
When I missed my flight and I had six hours to wait until the next flight, I put my name in for a table at this restaurant. I loved sitting alone, ordering my favorites, and reading my book. The waitresses took such good care of me, and it was a lovely respite from popping a squat somewhere in the airport.
Prices were comparable to other restaurants, and it was all in all a great experience.
For my book friends, I was reading BOOK LOVERS by Emily Henry, and yes, I highly recommend!
Best airport food we've ever had! We both had the Loaded Queso burger and they were phenomenal! There was about a 40 minute wait but it was worth it. Great service at the bar too!
UPDATE 2/23
We went back while on another trip just a couple months after my first review and it was night and day different. We had a very rude server, it took forever just to get beer and when I asked for napkins he kinda just tossed them on our table. We ordered the exact same burger as last time and were really disappointed. Burger patties were much smaller, overcooked and had less toppings. Updated my stars to average the two experiences. This place is hit or miss.
If your hungry at the airport especially at MCO there isn’t a lot always to choose from. On The Border was pretty decent the food was good and the drinks are where they shine. The bar is the best spot to sit but we ate there once on the way out to our destination and one the way back. Both times servers were attentive and friendly. This is the airport so expect to pay too dollar on menu items. Per couple expect an entree and drink to run you $65-$80. Cheers!!
This place is a surprise to me and it’s the beautiful ends of my Orlando trip. I was expecting a long wait, low quality food and higher price inside of the airport but everything I got here was wonderful. The Tortillas was fresh and our server was so sweet and nice. I would definitely come again!
This restaurant is located in the Orlando Airport, and is well worth the long wait times if you have a long layover. What I didn't care for was having to use your phone to sign in to get on the list for a table. Nobody from the restaurant told me that - I had to learn that from a customer. The wait time for me was 45 minutes. The waitress or hostess led me to table and got my drink. I didn't realize that I was supposed to order by the QR code as well so I told the waitress what I wanted and she ordered it for me. The food was excellent. I had a brisket taco, a fish taco, and black beans. It was so good! I never saw the waitress again though for a refill or anything. When I was ready to go I flagged her down to pay but she said I had to pay through the QR code. I don't care for the QR code stuff but the food and the restaurant was very good!
The food is decent for an airport, but the 45-minute wait time followed by another 35 minutes to receive our meal made it hardly worth it. By the time our food arrived, we had to rush to catch our boarding call. Additionally, the establishment itself could use some improvements.
Natasha my server was very kind and helpful. I love everything my chicken quesadillas with the Pico de gallo and my margaritha swirl "Love it" 😍😍
This is my second time dining here, a couple years apart. Both times delicious! And I'm always impressed with how well the staff handle the busy crowds trying to eat before their flights. This time around I had one of their margaritas and then flautas. Their chips and salsa were great for snacking on and perfectly spicy.
This place has been on my radar for a while now and I finally had a chance to try it. The food was actually good. They start you out with chips and salsa and I ended up ordering a chicken burrito and it was very tasty. The food came out relatively quickly and the service was good. Once you’re done, you can the QR code on the table to pay. Most times I’ve been here, the place was very busy but, you can use open table and book in advance if you know you stopping my the Orlando airport.
Decent sit down restaurant at the airport to grab a bite to eat.
