This place is worth the wait. So in love with everything on the menu I need to come back. Went here last night with a friend for dinner and have got to say the exquisite presentation matched the taste of each dish served. The wine selection perfectly pairs with the menu. The service is exceptional and I felt like I was transported to Greece on vacation.
They deserve a 5 Star rating because they are simply the best!!!!!! I highly recommend this place!!!!
Absolutely wonderful place to have dinner. Food is just amazing. Staff is super friendly. Possibly some of the best Greek food your going to have in the Bay Area and what an amazing selection of wine.
I was disappointed I never got to try the Mexican restaurant that previously occupied this space however I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere of Taverna. Every person working here was super friendly and efficient. The food was so carefully thought-out and presentation was simple and showcased each dish beautifully. The lamb and carrot soup were especially good and the wine recommendations were fantastic. We chose the panna cotta for dessert which was so creamy and complimented the cake pieces and berries. Will definitely come again, perfect summer dining.
Great to have another high end food option in Palo Alto. First rate A plus service. Great authentic food. Should give others a run for their money and be a hot reservation going forward.
Great ambiance and impeccable meal. I like that Hakan is hands on with his guests. The plates are beautiful and great variety of Greek wines. All the staff are friendly and provided great service. Definitely a gem in our town. Congratulations.

Very cute Greek restaurant! I felt like I was in Greece. The food was decent but pricy, the Spanish octopus was very delicious, must try! Bathroom is extremely clean and has a comfy bidet. The whole place is lovely! A 20% service charge is automatically added to the bill.
Atomosphere. Well designed charming restaurant. Made me feel a bit like I was in Greece.
Service. Friendly prompt service.
Menu. Lots to choose from. Hard to make a choice. Will have to come again.

Excellent Greek restaurant, the drinks, food and service was great. They have covered/heated outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. We were a party of 5 so made reservations ahead of time.
Drinks - got the CDMX - excellent mezcal drink, had some spicy kick to it. Was very good, 2 of them went down very easily :) The others got Greek Hound, Hellenegroni - all were very good. We customized the Greek Hound to use Gin and they happily obliged. They also do the final shake and pour at the table! The bartender is talented for sure :)
Appetizers - got the Olives/Feta - you get 4 types of olives, KOLOKITHOKEFTEDES (crispy zucchini cakes), PATATES TIS YIAYIAS - fried potatoes - was very crispy and excellent and MELITZANOSALATA - an eggplant dip which was served with their pita bread. All of them were great!
Lunch - Got the lamb chops, very nicely grilled. It had a reduced/caramelized sauce that was divine. The meat itself was high quality. Others got the PSARAGORA (market fish) and PLAKI. Everyone liked the food.
Desserts - got a chocolate pudding (SOKOLATINA) which I didn't care for and the BOUGATSA which was very good. We also got the Greek coffee which they pour at the table - pretty cool!
The service was impeccable! Overall great place for greek/hellenic food. Highly recommend.
Great private room for large groups. Came for a private party and the staff treated everyone incredibly. The wine was flowing, the food was never ending, and everything was fantastic.
Psaraki was my favorite dish, the tzatziki was phenomenal, the fries all good, the zucchini cakes. Honestly everything was great. No complaints at all.
Would be a great spot to come for a date night as well. The vibe is fantastic and location can’t be beat.
Off of the busy University avenue in Palo Alto so the entire experience feels a lot more private. It's a perfect spot for a date, family dinner, mini party or eve you just crave for some well prepared Greek dinner!
My favorite Greek restaurant in the Bay Area! Friendly staff, amazing food, unique wine list. I love their homemade dips…and the octopus is terrific.

The food is delicious, the ambiance is amazing. I will definitely return with my entire family next time. Thank you for your excellence in customer service.
Ambiance was good and service was top notch! Had a great time! Food overall was great.. only complaint: sautéed greens was so salty! And, would have been great if the yogurt served for the dessert had some "taverna" flavor and not so identical to the supermarket Greek yogurt!
