After reading the reviews for the Shrimpboat I felt it necessary to give it the positive review it deserves. My family and I went tonight based off of the recommendation of a family friend and were not disappointed. The restaurants atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff is excellent. Our waitress made sure our drinks were never empty and we didn't have to ask twice for anything. The food was delicious from the rolls to the salad with homemade dressing to the main course. (I highly recommend the seafood platter) Everything was very well made and had good flavor. We will be returning to the Shrimpboat.
Once again The Shrimp Boat has proven why it is a staple in Panama City, FL. I loved it as a child and I love it now that I am in my 40s. The dining room takes you back to historic St. Andrews, something we are proud of in this area. The food is outstanding and the service is friendly, efficient and fun. It is obvious the employees love where they work. As a Bay County native, I highly recommend this restaurant to locals and tourists. It is TOTALLY worth the drive across the bridge. If you are a tourist you need to experience what Panama City is all about and The Shrimp Boat is the place to do it. Loren and his staff will ensure you will want to come back.
Good food! I always love eating sweet potatoe fries!!! Hostess and management were very friendly and welcoming. However the waiter that waited on us was a bit grouchy a first but then he warmed up. Overall a good experience but the food seemed a lil overpriced.

Incredible! Don't let the rating or low reviews fool you.. Wfe almost didn't try this place because of the low ratings and poor reviews, but we're happy we did. My husband and I are foodies and typically hard to please. What was surprising is that Shrimp Boat seasons their food incredibly well. Many times you go to a seafood place and the food is bland, but if you're looking for bold flavors, you need to try this place. We started with 1/2 dozen Oysters roasted with garlic and parmesan cheese - amazing! We we're disappointed we didn't order a dozen. The garlic rolls are salty and fabulous. I try and steer clear of carbs and usually the bread isn't worth it, but these rolls - well, I had 3! Salads were ordinary but the wine cheese dressing was different and delicious. My husband had the shrimp and grits. Let me just say this is truly an amazing entree. We've ordered this all over the US and I've made them quite a bit, but this dish was hands down, the very best. Barbecue shrimp over grits with gouda cheese, mushrooms and spinach. The gravy was so flavorful. All the ingredients really complimented each other. It really doesn't get better than this. I had the grilled grouper and vegetables. Don't let the word "grilled" fool you. This was grilled perfectly and topped with a mound of succulent crab and a delicious caper butter sauce. Sadly, we we're too full for dessert, and managed to take leftovers home. This is my first review but I feel obligated because this restaurant doesn't get the credit it deserves. I think a lot of people write bad reviews because they think the restaurant is too expensive. Our dinner was only $68.00! The value is incredible. Happy hour was great too - 2 for one wines, vodka martini was good and we each got a complimentary appetizer of toast with smoked tuna. Terrific experience. You won't be disappointed.
While visiting family we were treated to the Char Grilled Oysters with Jalapenos (we requested extras). I am not a fan of oysters, but these we outstanding, flavor hard to replicate. We sat in the bar, nice ambiance.

Shocked!!. I took my family out to eat at The Shrimpboat Restaurant Saturday night. When I looked up the restaurant on Urbanspoon I was shocked to read the negative reviews!! The prices were not bad, they were average. The meals that were above $20 were specialty dinners. Your average shrimp, oyster, or fish dinners were $18-$20. That's the price anywhere in Panama City. As far as food quality goes, it was great!! This was the best seafood dinner I have had since Hamilton's closed...and we eat out a lot!! The stuffed shrimp were good, the she crap soup was great (and we didn't have to hunt to find the crap meat), the fried cheese sticks were good, the salads were good & salad dressings were great, and the Baked Seafood La Costa was AMAZING!! One of the best dishes I have ever had & it was loaded with scallops, shrimp, & crab meat!! Did I mention it was AMAZING?? The portions were huge as we all had to get doggy bags. Our server was Steve and he did a superb job. I can't find one single thing he did wrong and I used to be a server at one of out beach seafood restaurants so I am very observant of the service I get. Steve was great. My 10 year old son is wheelchair dependent & has a trach. Steve was very kind and respectful to him without acting like he had "kid gloves" on. We had a delicious dinner in a beautiful restaurant with superb service! We will definitely be back & we will definitely request Steve!

Excellent Sushi!. My first time there and with a large party. I'll give the waiter an A for effort but I think he was a bit overwhelmed. They added a gratuity because it was a large party. I take no issue with that. He was still able to give us separate checks which was much appreciated.
Good points:
Service was friendly if a bit slow.
At least 7 or 8 sushi dishes were shared at our end and all were excellent.
The crab/cheese Spinach dip was most excellent, as was the tomato salad and the steak.
Bad points:
The food came out a plate at a time. We had not planned on spending 3 hours for dinner. It was not as if we were waiting on different courses. We had sushi arriving before the salad, after the salad, after the steak, and then the last two plates finally arrived.
All the food on our end of the (very large) table was very good, just not delivered in any kind of order. I clicked I like it above, but for the amount of money spent it could have been a better experience.
Great view and good service. I am mostly writing this review for one reason : those great char-roasted oysters! I have a new food craving and nowhere to satisfy it ,seeing as how I don't live anywhere near the Shrimp Boat Restaurant! I have never tasted anything like that dish. We enjoyed the good service from a friendly waiter. Also, we like to have a good window view when we eat out and we had a great view of the water. Really nice experience, did I mention the char- roasted oysters?
Quick to judge. Our experience at Shrimp Boat restaurant was wonderful
our food and service were perfectly timed and delicious despite
the place being packed. Our server -Steve- was very knowledgeable
and gave us the perfect suggestion on wine and yummy char oysters-
and of course she crab soup. People sometimes dont get that their server
is bound by restaurant policy in giving out items such as refills and comp
deserts. We found a refreshing love of food and willingness to share from
our service often not found in most restaurants today. We highly recommend
The Shrimp Boat for great oak grilled seafood and caring service. After all-
the idea of going out enjoying friends and family is just that-- not being quick
to be critical of others around you.
I recently went to dinner n happy hour at the shrimp boat restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious the atmosphere was relaxing n beautiful n the service was amazing. They had a full wine n martini list with great choices n the chat roasted oysters were to die for I highly recommend this restaurant

Fantastic. I am not usually a big fan of sea food or sushi but I was brought to The Shrimpboat Restaurant as it was my mothers birthday, the service was outstanding! My server, Julie, was one of the nicest servers I have ever had the pleasure of having. The view was great, and back to my point: the food! It was absolutely amazing. I had ordered Steak as I'm not usually a seafood person as I previously stated, but the rest of my family had foods such as coconut shrimp, calamari, mahi mahi, and different sushi rolls and they were all delicious, as well as my steak! Every dime spent was worth it. If you are ever in the area you have got to try this restaurant. I will definitely be back!
Food and service was great! Didn't take long at all for food to come out and we had a beautiful view. Only critique- the mashed potatoes needed some work. I would not recommend them .
What the heck? wow. I would have never expected to find a place like this in the little St. Andrews that I remember from 40 years ago. We were surprised at the shear size of the place. It is actually three different restaurants. The food and service were both good, Our server Mikey was spot on and had a great sense of humor. I would recommend the Char Roasted Oysters!! They are unbelievable, the best oyster dish I've ever had. We thought the prices would be higher considering the portion size and quality. Heard the same family is still running the place after sixty plus years. We will return on our next visit!! You gotta try the Keylime Pie.

Many of these bad reviews revolve around wait time, its a nice Restaurant.... sometimes your gona have to wait a little. Its not their fault for people flocking to their doors, they must be doing something right.
In my opinion the food was excellent, my server was kind and helpful. Especially noticing how many tables he was also servicing, claps for service.
I actually inquired to compare their pricing to similar places as well, practically the same.

I have eaten here several times, so I will summarize my experiences: I went on a date with my girlfriend, and wanted to take her somewhere nice, and I had heard a lot about the Shrimp Boat. I decided on it and have no regrets. The atmosphere is almost similar to that of Pompanoes on the beach, given the same owner, with a modern nice dining feel. My server, Derrick, was extremely nice, and didn't give me the feeling he was trying to push the most expensive menu item on me, but rather gave me helpful suggestions. The food (I ordered the steak pompano) came out hot and the taste was excellent. I did not feel like I had over-paid at all. The second time, I took my girlfriend for a more casual evening, so we sat up at the sushi bar, because I have always loved sushi and she was interested in trying it. I had the All-u-can-eat, which had a good selection of rolls, and well worth the money, she had the Black Dragon (which I also tasted) and loved it. The eel was delicious and the soft-shell crab inside was crispy and warm. The sushi staff was pleasant and friendly, and the experience over all was great. Definitely reccommend the Shrimp Boat!
Just ate here and it was packed. The host said it was a 45 min wait and we were seated in 30. The food was delicious and the services what great. No complaints!
Don't Miss It!. Fabulous atmosphere and food. Three distinctively different resaurants in the same beautiful building . . . Shrimp Boat in the front, Salty Hawgs in the center, Gracie Rae's on the back porch. (We've eaten at all three!) Decor` is wonderful and nostalgic. Sushi bar in the front of the house is unbeatable and the signature dishes like Shrimp Pompano and Shrimp and Grits will keep you coming back to the waterfront restaurant. Porches, boardwalks and decks make it possible to walk the entire length of the building. If you are visiting for the first time, catch the sunset! Or, go for lunch on Saturday (Gracie's or Salty Hawgs) and walk through the farmers' market which is right at the boardwalk! Historic St. Andrews is lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant. The food and service was really great and was not that unreasonable in price for fine dining seafood
It was great. I read all of the bad reviews on here and still decided to see for myself. This place was really good. I had the Cajun mixed grill which was a grilled mahi mahi and grilled shrimp with veggies. We also had the crap claws for and appetizer that were really good. I didn't think the prices were bad either compared to everywhere else at the beach. We had two dinners app and two glasses of wine for $74.00. Give it a try and see what you think for yourself, I'm glad the reviews on here didn't scare me away.
Very nice!. We were trying to get into the restaurant across the street, but after arriving and seeing the extremely long line, we walked across to the Shrimpboat. First impression is, wow! This is a very large nice looking restaurant. We walked inside, and didn't even have to wait to be seated, we were seated and waited on quickly. This place is NOT cheap, for me and my wife to eat, with a $10 tip, we totaled to about $80 for both of us, this included our soda's, a crab cake appetizer which was the best i had ever had, mostly lump crab, not like your average cake. My wife had the shrimp and grits which were some of the best we had tried, and i had stuffed shrimp, for the price, i should have had more on my plate than what i did, but her serving size was plentiful. The manager was our waiter and she was very nice, the atmosphere is great and its a very nice building, tall ceilings, and it was impressive in every way, we were not disappointing that we stopped in.

Came here on 3/25/11 against my better judgement based on previous reviews. Service, quality, portion size all exceeded expectations. Seared Ahi tuna was excellant as was the shrimp and grits. Three at table had the seafood platter and everyone was very pleased.

Great restaruant, baised on historic restaruant, even has the origional sign hanging inside over the bar. Great menu selection with unique selection and a full sushi bar.
IT was not that bad.. Louisiana still has the best seafood! But compared to some of the other popular seafood restaurant around PC that I have tried, the Shrimp Boat is better portion and price.
Better than Bubba Gumps. Finally went, great location, great view, great interior. Specialties you can't get anywhere else in town and could not eat all they brought me. I like the Captain's Table and Hunt's, but don't try to compare them. Hunt's is never going to fry, sauté, cream and sauce on the same entree. Why would you order a steak and onion rings at the Shrimpboat? Still half the price of a Destin restaurant. I've already picked my next two meal choices so maybe I'll wait to say anything else. I worked there in the early 70's, so maybe I'm biased.
It was the best restaurant I have ever been to. The portions were large and the price may be high but the food was 100% worth it. They came with our food fast and the service was excellent
My food was delicious. The Parmesan oysters were delicious, fish and chips, and the steak.
However, my husband ordered Mahi mahi. was very bland as well as the salmon.
The restaurant was very nice inside, we were seated outside it was beautiful.
Our waitress was a very sweet, good service. They kept forgetting to give us utensils.
Food was delicious. We had the specials of the day for dinner. My husband had filet mignon topped with crab meat and served with fingerling potatoes. The only downside to his meal was that it only came with one small single potato cut in half. That was also the only side served with husband's meal. There was no additional vegetables or a salad or soup. I got the red snapper on mushroom risotto. My meal also came with another side. I choose double mushroom risotto. I'm glad I did because it was delicious and I was able to give my extra portion to my husband. The restaurant was spacious and beautifully decorated for Christmas with Christmas music playing.
This place had mixed reviews, but sometimes you need to try it for yourself and decide. I'm so glad we did! We arrived right when they opened at 4 pm on a Friday night for dinner. Enjoyed the 2 for 1 drink special, the margaritas with Patron. Gator Bites for an appetizer, and the Shrimp Boat Platter for dinner. The 2 of us split the plate and it was plenty of food. Friendly staff, nice outdoor seating area, and tasty, fresh food. Leona was our server and she was tereific! I would recommend this restaurant!
What a great evening! The food was quite tasty, including the special diet selections; the children’s meals were appealing and enjoyed; the space, both indoors and out, was conducive to visiting with everyone easily; the service was wonderful! Christine and Bailey were attentive to every need, and very pleasant and efficient. Kudos!
The food is FRESH and the atmosphere is gorgeous. From the excellent service to the waterfront view . The Shrimp Boat is unbeatable !!! I’d recommend this restaurant to anybody . I always highly recommend asking for Christine to assure your meal is 5 stars !! Her high quality service motivates me to order 2 to 3 meals off the menu for just myself
The location is great out of the hassel of the main drag. The staff was friendly. The View off the back deck was awesome and colorful with the brightly painted chairs. I beat it has great sunsets.
The food was very good, ordered the blackened seafood sampler which was perfectly done. The Hushpuppies were awesome I recommend getting them and wish we ordered a second round.
Went to The Shrimp Boat tonight. Wasn't crowded and we had the best service. The food came out quickly and it was HOT! Now that all the tourists are gone, if you want a cozy dinner, then keep the Shrimp Boat on your list of go to places!
Worth every penny!! Great service!!! Giant Raw Oysters .. Came down from Georgia and Stayed off the main strip but decided to travel a little to The Shrimp Boat .. Everything was Fresh and Delicious!!!! The crab legs was the best I’ve ever had in my life.. hands down!! Well be going back when I visit pcb again. And our waitress Christine was Great and prompt.

The service was great. The food was of great quality and tasted exceptional. Also there's a wonderful view of the boats and water from most any table inside. I would definitely stop to dine here again.
Went for the first time, very nice atmosphere, quiet and a good view of the pier. Haley was our server and she was great. We had the crab and shrimp dip appetizer, which was very good with the homemade chips. We ordered the fish and chips, shrimp and grits, "pastalaya", and the grouper supreme.... all were excellent... my favorite was the shrimp and grits, they added some andouille sausage to it and it was very good. Overall, it's a good place to go with a family. Reasonably priced and plenty of parking.
I've been here a few times and it's always nice. My cousin got married here and they did a wonderful job! It was beautiful! I didn't take a lot of pictures, because I was spending time with my family, but I would recommend this for sure!!
The food was fabulous! We had oysters and gaitor bites to start. The grouper imperial was amazing. We even had dessert and the cheesecake and lava cake were the perfect end to our meal.
Come for a comedy show. Prices were a little on the high side. Building is pretty nice with a large bar and nice outdoor seating on the harbor.
We has the best dinner! Shrimp and Grits were amazing! Lava cake for dessert! Excellent service too! We will be back!
