Hands down the best BBQ in Paso. Every meat is delicious, but highlights are the tri tip and pulled pork.
We used Steins BBQ for our wedding Reception and they were so unbelievable. The food was so good and they present it so cute I was blown away how professional it was. The anti pasta appetizer table was so cute too and delicious. Our guests raved about how good the food was. On top of that Nancy was so sweet and helpful with whatever I needed or any questions I needed answered. She really helped us create the right menu that we wanted and we got to taste all the food ahead of time which was awesome! They are such nice couple, loved working with them. Wouldn't recommend anyone else because they are so outstanding. Thanks again for being such a big part of our special day, it was incredible! Cant wait to come by the restaurant soon and have some more of your good food!
We have had Stein's food before at Pomar Junction pick up parties so we knew it would be good. But it was pretty stellar even for our expectations. I had the Frisco burger- man oh man! Sourdough toast with Parmesan coating, candied bacon and guacamole plus great burger and cheese. I could only eat half and had the other half for breakfast the next day. The fries are the best fries I've had in a long time, and the service was great. Even tho it is a self serve kind of place, they came and took our trays & trash. My husband had the hot pastrami with a side of smoky Gouda mac-n-cheese. It was sublime! The prices aren't cheap but neither is rent in prime downtown Paso Robles plus nice renovations to the building. Even the fountain diet Coke was mixed properly and tasted great. Props to the Stein team, we will definitely be back. ☺
We just got married! Steins Catering was nothing short of amazing! Our meal was delicious (our guests raved) and their communication up to the event was outstanding. They hire hard-working, professional staff. They are all passionate about their craft and they are consummate professionals. Obviously, I could not recommend them more highly!
At at the restaurant many times and was very sad when it closed down. Happy to report that thier pick up business has become a close substitute. Not the selection they once had, but the food is just as tasty & thier customer service is outstanding! You should jump at any chance to sample thier BBQ.
Had lunch with my parents there. Tri tip sandwich was excellent tender will flavored meat cooked on the rare side. Great tasting and very big sandwich. Only comment is the amount of salsa is small, they should offer the salsa as side fish, it was also very good.
The Stein’s catered my wedding a couple weeks ago and were honestly the best thing that could have happened to me. They love what they do!! Genuinely care for their customers and go above and beyond. After having to fire my coordinator 10 days prior to the wedding, Nancy stepped in and became the guru I needed. She ran the day plus made the most amazing food. She even entertained my kids so I could dance the night away. Amazing company!!! I’ll forever recommend them for any event! Thank you so much.
Also, her “best of the best” list has amazing options for florist, linen, photographers and much more. I used her florist and can’t put into words how amazing they were too. Absolutely stunning.

What an honor, joy, and privilege it was to have Stein’s cater our wedding!! Nancy and her family are the kindest, most wonderful, down-to-earth people, and took such wonderful care of us throughout the entire planning process. We are a COVID couple, and had to completely move our entire wedding from May 2020 to May 2021 with little lead time. Stein’s was PHENOMENAL throughout the entire process, constantly reassuring us that they were on our team and would be with us through thick and thin. Our guests RAVED about the food and service, and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them. They even accommodated some very particular dietary restrictions with ease, patience, and grace. Cannot recommend this company enough!!
Last guy comment is correct. Large portions of meat. I Had their Santa Maria Tri Tip sandwich and mac and cheese. The tri tip was cooked perfectly! The flavor was incredible! Lets talk about the mac and cheese with sweet bacon omg it was yummy! Ambiance was BBQ style dining and very clean. It was busy for lunch at 12pm on a Friday and they were cranking the food out quick. Totally keeping up with demand. I'll be back!
I got to try Stein's BBQ while working a holiday party. The steak was juicy and done just right. The mashed potatoes with garlic and chives were very tasty. Mixed baby greens with walnuts, cranberries and feta cheese all topped with an amazingly sweet and tangy vinaigrette was the best salad I've had in a while.
Working next to and speaking with them during the event, I could tell they are a super professional, well run company with great food.
Originally, I gave this place with only the 5-star rating but did not leave any comments at all. But who would've thought the owner responded, even to the blank review with a 5-star rating?! That shows how much they care about their business and customers.
My friends and I were visiting from San Jose, CA for the President's Day weekend. We were starving when we arrived in town. Pulled out my phone and found this place and decided to it a try. And we all were happy and satisfied with the decision!
The place was clean! The staff was nice! And the food was delicious!

Later on during the same weekend, we learned from ONX Wines Tasting Room & Winery that this establishment is quite new and recent, and they still haven't tried Stein's BBQ yet. I definitely recommended they should try out your restaurant.
We just found this place this week and had both dinner yesterday and then lunch today. Sooo delicious their candied bacon is wonderful! Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious...Brian, the chef came out both times and is so welcoming! We highly recommend it and give it 5 stars!!!
This is what Paso has been needing! The food is excellent the flavor in the meat is exactly how you want your BBQ to taste! The sides were delicious and good quality ingredients. You can tell they put thought into menu and ingredients and just buy the same stuff a lot of restaurants use!

The BBQ tri-tip sandwich was outstanding! The best Tri-Tip sandwich in Paso Robles. Came back a 4th time, 1-3-2020. & OMG! Found the BBQ club sandwich. Worth the $15
Turkey, Tritip, candied bacon on sourdough. Incredible! Had a nice chat with the owner & pit master who also told me about the California Tritip with guacamole. That's happening next. The owner was so gracious and friendly. If you've never been & are a fan of BBQ this place is beyond legit. I lived in the mid west & they would die for this place. Better than Mo's, Firestone Grill, AJ spurs, Loading Chute, Jockos, Far Western Tavern, or street side Santa Maria style. You have to go support this place . . .
I love this place. Great food. Huge portions. Great prices. Awesome service. The tri-tip nachos are big and delicious. The pulled pork is juicy and amazing. Their mac and cheese topped with candied bacon is yummy. All you could ask for in a bbq place. My mouth is watering as I am writing this review.
