Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm passionate about cheese and all artisan foods.
I started Petoskey Cheese in October of 2015 to bring my favorite foods in a new space and to be as approachable + educational as possible.
I have learned a lot as a business owner. Of course, we have had our ups and downs. The cheese shop is an honest reflection of me every day: some days we are busy and brisk, while other days you will get a mini 101 lesson with each cheese you try.
At the shop, we aspire to provide the best possible customer experience to everyone that walks in. We encourage all of our customers to carve out some time, keep an open mind, and try some new products.

The cheese shop in Petosky is nothing short of fabulous!
We purchased a grab bag they have. The cheese , crackers, olives & murabba was unique & delicious. If you have never heard murabba go to the shop and ask ,It'll be well worth it .
Stopped in today to try the new pizza's and they are delicious! What I really love about Petoskey Cheese though is the care and knowledge that Katie brings to providing us with fantastic artisan style cheeses and "snack" items to go with the cheese that are unique and curated by her like artwork in a museum.
Went in today for the first time. The shop is amazing and the owners are very knowledgeable about everything they sell. We tried several different cheeses and loved them all. We were educated about everything we tried about where they came from and how they were made. Love this place. I recommend everyone go there to get the best cheeses around.
I'll be the first to admit, I was not a huge cheese fan. With that being said, this is a GEM in Petoskey. Friendly atmosphere, excellent selection and they offer cheese samples without being asked. I fell in love with the raw cumin Gouda. Now I know why I never was much of a cheese fan. You have to eat good cheese. This is a must stop shop to add to your Petoskey experience. Get your cheese on!
Petoskey Cheese is my go to spot when we are entertaining. Nowhere else in town can you get a beautiful, delicious, affordable cheese plate that is made with love by their amazing staff. Talk with Katie about cheese and your life will change.
Bought cheese when it was across the road, was great, now it is even more special as my Father owned a business at that location, called Gambles many years ago. Our family worked their for many years. Congratulations to Katie and her awesome Cheese shop and more!
Amazing cheese shop in the center of town! There is a great selection and the staff will happily assist with your cheeseboard needs. Will stop by on our next vacation!
I love this place! They've added a ton of character to the downtown area of Petoskey. Great food and lots to discover at Petoskey Cheese.

After living for 30 years in NYC, I’ve been spoiled by places like Murray’s. That said, Petoskey Cheese has a nice selection that covers all of the bases. The times I have shopped, there have been many familiar wheels in the case as well as a few that I hadn’t tried before—which is always fun—the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to offer a taste. Accompaniments like crackers, jams, dried dates and olives make it a one-stop for making a killer cheese plate. And the sandwiches and raclette are drool-worthy for lunch...
This place is great and the owner is so nice. They have any kind of cheese that you would want and all the items that go with it-crackers, etc.
An amazing experience from the moment you walk through the door. Friendly, helpful staff and DELICIOUS cheese and creations make this shop one of my all time faves. A must in your life whether you need a little snack or an amazing cheese board for a party or hostess gift �
I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now, but don't drive downtown very often. We'll today I finally got to! Though they didn't have any grilled sandwiches, I didn't care much as I just wanted to try a spread of different cheeses. First off the customer service was great! She knew exactly what every cheese was and explained them very well. She was excited to show me different cheese trays and you could tell she took pride in her work and that it is her passion. Well I was very excited to try the cheese and salami tray and had very high expectations... I was not disappointed! The variety of cheeses had such good flavor and the textures were amazing. I will definitely be back! I am a cheese lover and this place will be on my list to visit often! This is a must try for anyone that loves cheese!
Called in an order for 2 Caprese sandwiches on a Tuesday afternoon. Stopped by 15 minutes later and they were ready... and amazing. Excellent bread, flavorful, slightly sweet tomato, well-balanced pesto, and of course perfect mozzeralla! Best sandwich I've had in downtown Petoskey. It was $10, which is on the lower end of sandwich prices downtown. Will return!
This place came highly recommended by several friends. It’s a small store on E. Mitchell in Petoskey. We sampled several cheeses and bought all but one. We bought Prairie Breeze Cheddar, Porter Marbled, Mango Ginger (dessert cheese) and Jalapeño Cilantro Jack. (I can’t remember what type they all were.) We also tasted another one called Balsamic Parmesan and it was VERY good, but we didn’t buy it. The staff wasn’t overly friendly, not the day we went (11/17/18), but by the end of the visit, she was talking a bit more. We also bought some chutney that we were able to sample. I highly recommend. There’s a smaller jar for $5.95 but it’s really small.
I ordered three cheese trays from Petoskey Cheese for my husband and I’s August elopement, and they were the ultimate hit at our appetizer table. Our family and friends couldn’t stop talking about them! Katie was so friendly and informative in helping me place the order, and included a huge variety of amazing cheeses that everyone was excited to sample (the double cream Brie is everything!!). I would order from Petoskey Cheese again in a heartbeat!
Very good selection of Cheeses, and other assorted goodies. Yummy sandwiches also available. Parking is easy.
One of my favorite places in town! The daily sandwiches are excellent and the Take n' Bake mac and cheese is killer! My personal favorite are the naan bread pizzas! There is not one that I don't like, all of them are absolutely delicious. Many different delicious cheeses to choose from. I love the end pieces of cheese you can buy for a buck or two at the register. It's a great way to try new cheeses you've never had before. Any questions about cheese, Katie is your girl! She is very knowledgeable and educated her staff very well. Highly recommend!

Unbelievable spread for my brother's wedding. I could have stood at the table all night. I loved the selection and presentation - so creative and professional. These girls HIT it out of the park. we did run out of crackers so I would recommend they leave a few boxes for refill, but otherwise the best food of the day!
Katie was so fun and knowledgeable. She created a customized wine/beer & cheese pairing class for our work group that was interesting, helpful, and enjoyable. I’ve never found a cheese I haven’t liked, but Katie’s expertise showed me what true cheesemongering looks like. Thank you for a world class experience!
We purchased a platter for a get together with friends and were very happy with the outcome. The platter was well designed and offered a great assortment to suit varying palettes. We will definitely use them again in the future.
