Reading Terminal is a fantastic place for shopping and dining. We did some shopping and ate lunch here. The pastrami sandwiches were huge and very tasty. We highly recommend Hershel's. You won't leave hungry, we are sure of that.

Hershel's serves the most delicious Reuben sandwiches I've ever had (and I've had many in many different cities)! It's been my favorite place to eat for years even though I live 800 miles away. We had the great opportunity to eat there last week, and they were as perfect as ever. We even got to meet the man himself, and boy he did not disappoint. The love and generosity he showed us, and the way he treated his employees like family just served to amplify how much I love this place. I wish I could eat there every week. Do yourself a favor and head to the Reading Terminal to enjoy the yummiest sandwich you'll ever have! I can't wait to make it back to Philly just to get to eat at Hershel's!

I turned my pastrami sandwich into a reuben. Big sandwich that had a hard time staying in the bread but it was perfectly grilled and moist. Great flavor.

Absolutely in the top 3 pastrami sandwiches I have ever had. Huge portions of meat, well worth the price. Feels like your in NY. Got the pastrami, Rachel style. Enough food for 2 people.

There are very few places that deserve straight 5 stars and I almost never give them. This place has and continues to service the greatest pastrami Rachael sandwich I have every had. Super friendly staff just makes the deal complete. Even if you hate pastrami you owe it to yourself to try their sandwich. Once you've had it you can die knowing you've had everything the world has to offer.

Pastrami is my favorite & add the “special”. My most recent sandwich was dry, the server skimped on the dressing. Overall this is a great sandwich place. They should tell customers there’s a 25 cent charge for a bag. I didn’t need one but got one & was charged. We shouldn’t have to pay for a bag.

BOOYA! great service and great food with bold flavors. I would not get the brisket. its not what you want at all. doesnt have a smoke flavor to it at all. however, everything else is well worth it. you can sit there and eat or grab and go. you will not leave hungry and your taste buds and belly will be rejoicing. the staff will give you great directions on what to order and you will enjoy it.

Here’s the deal. I’m a girl that loves a great sandwich and classic Jewish deli style sandwiches are my favorite. Having eaten at many NYC deli’s and picnicked in Central Park with the best offerings of Zabar’s, I thought I would be pleasantly impressed with the offerings of Hershel’s East Side Deli. I was wrong… I was massively impressed with not only the quality, but the quantity of delicious food. We opted for the Rebekah. The meat was savory, juicy and piled high. The coleslaw was crisp and fresh, and the dressing was amazing. I’m not going to lie… when I’m on my death bed and someone asking me what I want my dying meal to be… this sandwich is going to be on the list. It was so good that when our friend tried a bite of our sandwich, he had to go and get one of his own. Having tried a variety of the Reading Terminal Market offerings, I would rate the sandwiches at Hershel’s the best and Miller’s Twist as a close second. Do not be fooled by the look of this place. From the outside it had a vibe that was reminiscent of a school cafeteria. Yes, the sides are great, but go straight for the sandwiches!

So damn good. This was my first time and she recommended 1/2 pastrami and half corned beef. What a great recommendation. (Pastrami was my fave). I enjoyed watching them prep more of the brisket and the convo with the guy working. High recommend.
